>>223251130It was the first step towards the Borg Queen. The writers realized that an impersonal force of nature that you can't talk to is boring/doesn't create drama, so they created Locutus as someone who could personify the Borg. That worked well enough in TBOBW, so they did it again with Hugh, then the Borg Queen, and again with Seven of Nine. The Borg Queen obviously doesn't make sense with how the Borg are supposed to be, but I understand why the writers did it.

star trek sex with david corwin
>>223253533Man, those sure were a bunch of annoying, stupid kids. But it was still a good episode. There's no explanation for the planet being perfectly identical to Earth in the 1960s. I know there are future episodes where alien races end up copying our 20th century culture due to deep space radio broadcasts, but what the hell causes the exact same continents to form? It's meaningless except to say "this is a potential future WE will have to worry about, should we meddle with diseases to prolongate our existence."Jahn as the leader of the Onlies around the same age as Miri could've played up that aspect a bit more. We only get 2 good scenes with him, his introduction and his arguments with Kirk in the classroom. I liked that little shitkicker they gave most of the other lines too, the "bonk! bonk!" kid.Janice being jealous of the literally barely pubescent Miri was so tactless of her. Were women really like this in the 60s? What does she have to be insecure about when Kirk is clearly just doing what he can to make advances on curing this stupid plague that affects adults and harbors no real feelings for her, aside from maybe fatherly warmth. And this was all on day one, before the mood-altering symptoms became onset! As terrible as what happened to her actress was, I'm really glad they wrote her out because they clearly can't write her for SHIT.As good as the episode was, it was also on the slower side, especially for a ticking clock story. First time looking into the writers for an episode, and this Adrian Spies guy only ever submitted this one script that got reworked by frequent consultant Steve Carabastos. It had to have been dreadful before Steve stepped in, and he did what he could. I wonder if the original ending was gonna have Miri & Jahn get together and have a little boy named JEEZUS.
>>223254170I feel like the numbers would be better if it wasn't just all gimmicks in a row. Like if the puppet episode was the only gimmick of the season, it might have been higher. But each episode is just lower than the previous because the people reviewing are just annoyed that it's ANOTHER gimmick. I really didn't like ep 6. It was also a gimmick episode but most people didn't realize the gimmick was excessive focus on injuries beyond what these shows normally do.
>>223255987I also looked into the writer for Mudd's Women out of curiosity, because I correctly recognized him from Batman '66 (which I marathonned a year ago). Stephen Kandel created the character of False Face and wrote the show's only Three-Parter, which featured a GIANT CLAM as the death-trap connecting part 2 to part 3. I remember liking the Zodiac three parter when I watched it, but I hardly remember anything else about it now.

>>223264278You can't just replicate an entire ship. Or even a big portion of a ship. Take a modern example. Cars have about 30,000 parts on average. What's a replicator going to do? The time consuming part is putting it all together in working order. A starship is much larger and more complicated. Even if the entire process of assembly was handled by automation, and every part was replicated, it would still take a long time and the time taken would increase exponentially the larger you made each ship and ship building facilities/yards would also have to increase massively to accomodate larger ships.
star trek sex with icheb and q jr
>>223265655You can replicate a phaser just fine, or a padd, or a hypospray. Those are all complex machines with fine components, what's the difference?
>>223265728scale
>>223265655Modular construction could speed things up.
The Protostar contains a vehicle replicator. It's small scale and described as a Prototype iirc, so if we ever get another 25th century Trek in-universe tech could develop in that direction.
>>223265728A phaser is much simpler than a starship and since the scale is smaller every aspect of its fabrication is much more manageable.>>223265768That wouldn't change anything about what I detailed. Modular parts don't really mean much when you're using replicators and sufficiently advanced automation.
>>223265850You couldn't manage me or my phaser.
>>223265846The only thing I don't like about Protostar is that she has too many open spaces. It's basically a flying mall. Main airlock leads to a giant hall, the bridge is comically large and even more exposed to the dangers of space than the og bridge design.
>>223267168I see what you mean, but to me that's leaning into the prototype aspect. It's a showroom ship that was never meant to be on actual long-term missions but to demonstrate the technology.
>>223267231
which /trek/ books are worth reading?
>>223267328The ones about the actual production
>>223267328>>223267344The art of star trek, mr. scotts guide to the enterprise, tng technical manual. Those are the essentials. There are probably a few unrealized Fontana scripts out there which could be interesting.
Why can't a Borg cube come to Earth right now? Imagine the smell!
>>223265655Industrial replicators were talked about on DS9. They could make factories, power plants, etc. Surely there must be ship construction versions.
>>223267392Probably smells like antiseptic and new plastic
>>223267392Why don’t a bunch of Borg cubes just group up and all attack Earth at once. Just get a bunch from the Delta Quadrant and send them through the transwarp network.
>>223267455Maybe ships are different because of all the dangerous/classified components.
>>223267356why would i read jewish mythology?
>>223267650The Borg farm the galaxy for innovations, they don't want to conquer.
>>223267703And conquering/assimilating Earth would yield a shitload of innovations as teh capital of the Federation.
>>223267455>Industrial replicators We don't know anything meaningful about those other than that one was modified and used to produce a bomb. At the minimum they could just be replicators that can create bigger objects than a normal replicator could.
>>223247909How did Zek make it grand nagus? He is retarded
Allowing Tuvix condemned two men to die. It is morally wrong to choose the needs of the one over the needs of the many.
>>223267794Correct.
>>223267650>Why don’t a bunch of Borg cubes just group up and all attack Earth at once. That was supposed to be the opening plot of Star Trek First Contact. That they developed a torpedo that destroys Borg cubes (quantum torpedoes, later used in Voyager as Transphasic torpedoes). Unfortunately they determined the budget couldn't show such a large fight with lots of Borg cubes. So they changed it to one ship.
>>223267231just kys my dude. There's no saving you, we both know that. Why extend the suffering?
>>223267925To bad, that would’ve been cool.
>>223268145>>223268212sleeping tablets and cheap scotch while listening to Barry Manilow. Just slip away.
>>223267794I kept him alive in that Voyager game and he basically did fuckall after, I think the game expected me to follow Janeway and kill him off to get Neelix/Tuvok back.
>>223251699Couldn't the enterprise just fly 1-2 light hours away from the star and enjoy the show again from there? If any data was missing they could do it again and again before the distance becomes too great.
>>223268237This isn’t your to do list. Thanks for the laughs though dummy
>>223267932I’m already saved. You’re the schizophrenic guy that thinks he’s a serial killer from an x-files episode
>>223268749>>223268797You can stream it if you want. A classic an hero, at least that way you'd be remembered for something else than being a pathetic friendless simp.
>>223268832You sound so unhappy. You have my deepest sympathy
>>223268832>You can stream it if you wantYou can dance if you want toyou can leave your friends behind
>>223268902no more pain, no more sorrow. You could be like Worf in Ethics, Q in Death Wish or Neelix in Mortal Coil.
>>223268832You want to hop on zoom or something? You sound like you’re in crisis mode. Poor thing. I think my strong male presence might make you feel more safe
>>223268951'Cause your friends don't danceAnd if they don't danceWell they're no friends of mine
>>223268976Hell, I'd install Zoom to find out who you are, schizoboy. Can we get the whole thread in there?
>>223269000That would be fantastic. Keep this same energy though! Tell me to kill my self and I’ll laugh and tell you you need Jesus and and I pity you. I’ll get rich and famous and you’ll die
>>223269000I'm painting minis today and would be pretty quiet except for music and lighter clicking sounds but I'd join a watch party on teams or second life or whatever
>>223269095Just to make sure - you're the guy simping over BF, right?
>>223269139set it up, schizo. I'll join whenever you did.
Did you know that Book and Michael Burnham became a couple?
>>223269217this is an ugly ship
>>223269136I’m the guy that feels sympathy for all of you because you’re severely mentally ill
>>223269274less yapping, more zoom codes.
>>223247892As always /trek/ returns to it's roots as a Kaiju franchise.
>>223264345yes I think it's speculated the hangar bays can replicate new shuttle craft given enough time and material.
>>223247892Is the finale next week or did they get 12 episodes?
>>223269433next week. Then six episodes to wrap up next season and it's done.
I like talking by about Star Trek
>>223269433>>223269466Don't forget season two of Academy
>>223268362You fucked up.
>>223269796bro I already forgot season 1 other than the sizko ep
>>223269217this thing would spin in circles
>>223269835Why? there is no drag in space?
>>223269825Odd one to remember. Vox in Excelso was much better imho
>>223269857I can hear the explosions, phasers etc. clearly Star Trek exists in a universe with some sort of medium filling space
Is that Zoom call coming? Can we use that to watch some episodes together?
>>223269909I understand.
>>223269909There’s an extra-dimensional being that uses its powers to propagate sound waves through apace.
>>223269857>Why? there is no drag in space?Yes there is.
>>223269888>Vox in ExcelsoIs that the prank war episode? I genuinely liked the series but I can't remember it.
>>223269909Phloxiston?
>>223270267Debate/Klingon solution one
>>223269948Yes
>>223270289Ok that was actually peak trek in that it used creative problem solving, had alien psychology AND a personal growth arc in the ep...and I completely forgot it. It's the Chinese food of treks
>>223270316I can't recall another example of Starfleet respecting local customs that hard, it was great. Also Beta Test ironically for turning Betazed into Israel
>>223270413Was that a Kathryn Lyn ep? She generally writes kino.
>>223270521Just looked it up, Lyn didn't write for Academy. Beta Test was written by Landau and Maggs
>>223263257Ese tipo realmente no era parte de nuestra banda. Solo era un actor fingiendo tocar la trompeta.
>>223270598You have to be American to post here, anon.
I miss John de Lancie so much bros it's unrealKnowing there will never be a true Q sode ever again hurts
>>223270618Isn't that californian american thoughbeit?
>>223270630I liked him in Stargate and loved him in Andromeda.
>>223270665Legendary career if you ask me
>>223270630I thought he died, don’t scare me like that anon.
