I saw Talk To Me and this back to back and they were both great, though BHB was quite a bit more interesting. Sally Hawkins did an amazing job.

It can only loosely be called horror for the fact that there is a satanic element, but it's much more an action/comedy without the tension and suspense of the first movie

It's not about watch. It's about how your opinion on it.
You can watch bad movies, reddit movies gay movies or hétero movies. But you only know the material if you at least see it, and your view on the movie itself is what matters. It's important to check out things, even if they are bad. Sometimes they might be actually good for you, or you might actually see an interesting concept here and there. Although bring her back really sucks hard

Holy fucking kino
We can all agree that Quentin is a retard who deserved to die more than anyone else right?
I interpreted the ending and the whole point of the movie this way: only those who are not concerned with the prison and its inhabitants (the cube is obviously a metaphor for the world/society we live in) can escape it, Kazan has zero connections to the outside and material world, he's in full escapism mode by default, and you probably already know where I'm getting at, neets also practice escapism as their default state of being

Just finished. So it's got fuckall to do with Resident Evil. I thought maybe he was going for a Buster Keaton thing or Hundreds of Zombies instead of Beavers but then it hit me. This is an Evil Dead remake, lol. Cregger has no idea what Resident Evil is, but wanted to make an Evil Dead movie and of course somebody else is doing those. So he just took the first horror IP somebody handed him that he could use as a shell for his Evil Dead remake, and this is it. I liked it! It's definitely a one time watch, though, it's the most get from point A to point B movie I think I've ever seen. I can see teenagers catching this randomly on streaming like five years from now and loving it.

Meh the point of the scene is still two bumbling white guys going "wowee this female cop is like a super soldier". I'm not even that much of a chud on the chudometer but I can't help but think of someone ticking off checkboxes on the dei list when making these films to counterbalance the fact the lead is a white guy

Bill Pullman is great in it and the female lead does get her tits out halfway which is nice. I just love the vibe of the movie. I know horror films involving dreams was Cravens schtick for a while but I feel like this film made it feel the most horrifying. The setting adds to the fear. I'd be frightened in Haiti too. Love the effects in it.
>>
>>223256079
I remember liking it despite the voodoo stuff. Voodoo shit is just personally unappealing to me. Nothing wrong with it. I might rewatch it. Only saw it once.
>>
>>223250032
I loved Bring Her Back as well. I thought it was the best horror movie of 2025. Sally Hawkins bringing her serious skills to a horror movie was great.

>>223249944
I just got home from seeing this.
The ending drops this down an entire notch. It was pretty good overall, especially the effects. Creggor is making monsters that Guillermo Del Toro would be happy with.
>>
>>223250032
This movie was pretty good but for some reason it just wasn't very satisfying? Felt like something was missing.
7/10
>>
>>223255337
It felt like Cregger had like 20 different sketches for a zombie horror movie, maybe even RE-specific stuff, but never got to use them in WKUK. So he just unearthed that when Capcom offered him the spot. The ending in particular makes me think that since it's the most blatant "Shit, shit, there needs to be an ending!" moment.
>>
>>223256142
I'm happy that the movie holds up until the end which, I was okay with, I kind of figured he was going there after what happened in the tunnel. I do wish the movie had more tense scenes and eased up on the jump scares. Especially the fakeout jumpscares that are just to startle you.
That first 30 minutes of the movie I really really liked. The lighting was so cool.
>>
>>223256296
I had a feeling the ending would go that way too, but the scientists were just so dumb. Also, I guess we're probably gonna get a sequel.
You are right, I really wish there were more tension and less comedy. It could have been so much better, but I did like it a lot because of the monsters and various types. There were also some very interesting shots.

Insidious being your favorite horror movie is a little sad and the newest one is the best in the franchise. We are anons with very different tastes, but we may still get along. Insidious as a whole is my guilty pleasure franchise.

It was a fun watch, too much reddit humor tho, but the easter eggs were there and the zombies/monsters were really cool. It looked like a mix of left 4 dead and dead space. I wouldn’t mind a sequel, but I heard the guy wasn’t going to make another one. If leon made a cameo and said something like there’s the resident evil, it’ll be a 10/10

Another thing from the resident evil movie. The fat guy was talking about how a "spillage" occurred causing the outbreak. It sounded a lot like the plot from the original resident evil movie with milla jovovich. I think it would’ve absolutely kino if the lab in this movie was the exact lab from the first one, showing some cameos and stuff, but I don’t think that was the goal for this director. Even the theme from the original movies would’ve so wet
>>
>>223256296
Agreed about the lighting, very few movies capture the moonlit / carlit snow look, it's usually underexposed or over lit

I've loved the film since seeing it opening weekend and thought it would be generally underrated, not the half-billion sleeper hit of the year that took over /tv/ and general film/box office discourse for months on end. I didn't even realize until recently the same exact Obsession threads are still being made 4 months later cuz I coincidentally stopped checking the catalog regularly at the end of June after my third viewing and personal interest subsequently dropped off a cliff outside of the occasional Indepost. 2. real resident evil movies are bad so fuck u and fuck your stupid video game you nerdy faggot haha you're a nerd fuck you
>>
>>223257157
Here's how I would have ended it.
Messenger boy gets to the lab, and instead of goofballs they are deadly serious/creepy G-Man style scientists. When his hand is exposed, they contain him quickly, and he thinks it's over. However, they give him the serum, calcifying him into a kind of corpse/statue. They tell him that the serum can be synthesized, and his sacrifice will be remembered. Right then the big ball of humans explodes into the room, killing the scientists as they jumble for the serum. In the end, the ball finds the messenger body, and implants it into himself, causing an odd mutation to occur, and his eye opens.

Same. The last contemporary horror that such effect on me was Midsommar back in 2019, so it's been a hot minute. I'm actually gonna try and see the director's cut in theaters next month since I somehow missed out on the 5th anniv re-release.

Nta but also odd people call it elevated horror when the "creepy ghost in the background" trope is the most neanderthal scary internet image from 2005 thing I can imagine.
Obsession in comparison I think was very unique and impressive even if not 100% my thing.
