After it had been mentioned in a Youtube video and ranked amid the top 10 satanist horror movies, I watched "Evilspeak" (1981). Oh boy. This movie goes on for far too long, and as it goes on, it alternates between normal picture and sound quality and something that might have been shot on 8mm amateur film 50 years ago. An orphan and cadet in a military boarding school gets bullied by his classmates. He uses a 1981 school computer, an Apple II with 48 kilobytes (= 0.00004 gigabytes) of memory and no internet connection (there was no private internet at the time) to translate Latin and come up with a spell to summon Satan -- which it does.Aside from the fact that this is obvious bullshit, the writer and director had about 15 - 20 minutes of material here and didn't know how to turn it into a full length horror movie. But he did anyway. Now compare that to "Lights Out" (2016) for which the writer and director had a 5 minute concept film. When he was offered the chance to turn that into a movie, he came up with an actual story, fleshed out the story and the characters and got help for the finishing touches by a professional screen writer. And it turned out to be a good and scary horror movie.3/10 from me for "Evilspeak". Nice idea but unsatisfying realisation.

Watched that newest Spider Man movie that came out and the whole time I was reminded of Wes Cravens Shocker which is a horror movie that came out in the late 80s where the psychotic murderous villain sort of has the same thing going on that BND does with its antagonist.Any of you guys seen this film?Its very bloody and violent but it's so over the top I couldn't find it frightening, even though conceptually it is.
