I get peeved at most movies because the modern meta is to escalate things to a reasonable amount and then release the tension with a joke or jumpscare or cutaway. Look at lee cronin's mummy as a great example of this. There's a scene where all hell breaks loose at Grandma's funeral, multiple people are injured, the girl is vomiting and crawling on all fours. And instead of having to deal with this or escalate it even more the movie just.... cuts to a new scene. That's retarded and frustrating. The movie is trying to escape it's own terror. There really aren't any other movies from this year that scared me like Hokum because they all follow that design, otherwise the casual audience wouldn't be able to watch the whole thing

Great stuff, google the interview with him. He also had an idea for a prequel telling the love story of Daniel Robitaille and Helen, where Todd and Madsen would reprise their roles. Jordan Peele was keen to produce this again after the legacy sequel, using the de-aging cgi on Todd and Madsen. Sadly, Tony Todd passed before they could do it.
