Today is Queen of /hor/ Jessica Harper's 77th birthday, so I wanted to share my copies of Suspiria for anyone that doesn't already have it and wanted to watch this October!
For the piracy-averse, it's also on Tubi.

#3 Final Destination (2000) – Strong Worth a Watch for the potent idea, the creepy first third, and for being a supreme example of late nineties-early 2000’s horror style -- you always see lighting that’s weirdly like something in a classic painting in movies of this era, with deep, soft shadows on one side and perfectly opposing highlights on the other, *yet* it’s somehow as if the light-source is a fluorescent shining through the glass doors of a 7-11. The central conceit smacks strongly of urban legend and is FANTASTIC: death has a plan for everyone, and after a teen has a bout of precognition on a doomed flight and makes a fuss that saves him and a few others . . . death decides to make up for it later, killing them all through convoluted, “better mouse trap” methods: flammable liquids that spread intelligently before some unlikely ignition, speeding vehicles, randomly flying shrapnel launched by a train, and the like.

The weakest point of the movie is that our main cast of characters -- and it’s a given that they will be archetypes of a sort, which is okay -- aren’t that interesting. Clear Rivers (Ali Larter) is a pretty weak version of an ART-GOTH (just compare her to the chicks from The Craft from the same period), while the only other central character that has any stand-out presence at all is Seann William Scott’s Billy -- who exudes a sort of goofy, golden retriever DUDE-BRO energy. Contrast all these cardboard cutouts with Tony Todd’s threatening and poetic undertaker who only appears once and briefly, to deliver a dire, mystical prediction . . . and about steals the whole show doing it! (The strongly hinted at psychic connection between precognition boy and weak-goth Ali is pretty much dropped cold early on, disappointingly.)

Start watching, PUSSY, and you tell us.

Guys like you have got this movie thing all wrong. If you see something interesting, watch it. It might suck, it might be good. It might be bad, but interesting in parts. You won't know till you go, and if you're waiting on a bunch of reductionist basement dwellers to organize your tastes for you, well . . .

This is what I do. I just randomly pick stuff that interest me based on the 1-2 sentence plotline and whatever pictures are used on the torrent tracker.

Hell yeah, bro. That's how I struck on The Sleeping Car (1990), one of my favorite B-movies of all time. The more I watch this thing, the more I see mystical depth in the off-kilter goofiness of it. Stars David Naughton (An American Werewolf in London) and the late Kevin McCarthy, who was in just about everything until he died.

>I wonder if this is good? I should ask somebody
These are the same people that listens to movie jewtubers, podcasters, and unknowingly has fallen for every corporate marketer around. I get that they do so because they probably don't want to waste their time, so the think it's better to just pick from what others have liked.
>I wonder if this is good? I should watch it.
For me it's mainly because I know nobody else is me, therefore I'll only know if I like or dislike something by watching it myself. Also, I've seen plenty of movies that nobody else here has or will even touch.

Alright lads, it’s October and horror is my favorite genre. Every year I try to watch at least one horror movie per day. However what I’d like to do this year is watch more obscure horror movies that are good that I’ve likely never seen before.
All that being said, refer to me your best obscure horror films. I’ll watch them. They can be B movies, foreign, whatever you think I likely haven’t seen before.

Embodiment of Evil (2008) - Better if you've seen the first two Coffin Joe films, but this late sequel is the arguably the best.

The Invisible Man (1933) - Not obscure, but overlooked. Short and shockingly good.

Cast a Deadly Spell (1991) - Made-for-TV film with Fred Ward starring as a noir-style detective in a Cthulhu-punk world. Unusual, for sure.

An Unquiet Grave (2020) - Passionate short production, on Tubi.

The Sleeping Car (1990) - A sweet, fun, and memorable B-movie on Tubi. A big fave of mine.

yeah, it's a short story called "The Visible Filth" from a collection called "Wounds: Six Stories from the Rim of Hell"
All the stories are loosely or directly connected and they're all about that "lore" kind of, of people trying to get into hell
It's not the best story in the collect, there's one about a colonial era ship doing a ritual and sailing directly to hell that was very cool
>>
the best thing Wounds did was perfectly capture the feeling of suddenly shock and fear when you see a cockroach and you're about to smash it with a shoe or whatever and then suddenly it starts flying.
That's the one thing I remember from the movie.
>>
Just finished. 100<100 #004.
Extremely British and dialogue heavy horror spoof about a guy who is summoned to a ghost town for a will reading and discovers he is a descendant of Van Helsing and is being stalked by a farting demon. It's a stiff and square comedy that think's it's being "naughty". Perfect example: the MC visits a pub called "The Loose Stool". Higher effort than the other crap I've been watching, they got some legitimate locations and the acting is better than you'd expect, but there's terrible greenscreen all over the place and pitiful CGI effects. It all ends with them flushing the demon down a giant toilet over the gates of hell. Overlong, silly, annoying.

>First of all you are a faggot. Second, kill yourself NOW. Too afraid of being judged to name a single film on the film and TV board. You are an unfathomably pozzed faggot that needs to commit suicide immediately.

With all due respect, telling someone to kill themselves is a sign of weakness as, rather than overcoming this know nothing cocksucker with knowledge that is superior to Him/Her/It/They/Them/Whatever, you would rather have Him/Her/It/They/Them/Whatever simply disappear instead of challenging and conquering that which opposes you thus making you a coward!

You should rather want Him/Her/It/They/Them/Whatever to live its life of self-loathing faggotry for as long as possible so they can lose everyone and everything they ever had in the fullness of time only to die alone, unloved and forgotten in a cold dark room with Him/Her/It/They/Them/Whatever's ashes flushed down the nearest toilet because by then no one will care that Him/Her/It/They/Them/Whatever ever existed just as I have no doubt can be said of Him/Her/It/They/Them/Whatever now!
