One Piece has an abhorrent, nauseating artstyle and way too many episodes. But the story and characters are good as I've learned from the live action.Naruto is just gay, and the artstyle is simplistic to boot. I'll never watch either anime but I'll continue with live action One Piece for as long as it's good.

LA One Piece would be perfect except for the race swaps. If they just didn't do the race swaps it would be the closest you could make a LA One Piece that is still digestible by a wider Western audience to the source material possible.Now that being said LA Vivi is infinitely fuckable, and I like black Igaram, but still. It's distracting in the worst way.Also as I recall they made Miss Goldenweek a bit more of a girlboss than she actually is in the manga, and idk if she's supposed to be a tiny woman who is older and just kind of looks like a kid, or an actual kid. Okay actually also now that I think about it, I recall the dialog being a bit "cunt shit asshole" swearword-y like nu-Borderlands does, it's not super distracting but still not ideal.Last one - they skipped the plot thread about Alvida going from giant hog to a skinny beautiful woman, which is crazy because the culmination of that joke in the manga is that the only thing Luffy noticed that was different with her from fat hog to bombshell hottie was that she no longer had freckles (i.e. this was a perfect opportunity to have a "fatties are beautiful too!" moment). I don't mind that they removed all references to Alvida loving Luffy or whatever that was since it ended up going nowhere. They haven't even interacted in 30 real world years / over a thousand chapters of the manga.Solid 7/10 for fans of the series, it might score a bit higher if you don't know much about the manga.

Don't watch the anime past maybe the first 300 or so episodes, use guides to skip filler, that way you get a sense for how the characters sound and act. Then continue on with the manga. Best way to go really. And from time to time just check out the coolest / best scenes in the anime as clips on YouTube. skip all the "Goku powering up for 4 episodes on Namek" tier filler crap that every shounen has eventually. The anime post-timeskip has admittedly been pretty much slop which is why I transition at that time to the manga exclusively. Oda has definitely gotten lazier but still much better than the anime and give him a fucking break, the guy is like 60 now and has been doing this almost nonstop for longer than a large portion of his fanbase has been alive.
