So, after reading all the praise yesterday, I've decided to watch Angst. Overall I did like it, but not as much as others apparently.
The gritty realism and the camera work were great. Together with the inner monologue they create an impression as if you're almost watching a clinical documentary on psychopathy.
At the same time, for a movie with a run time of only 1:20, it felt longer. Parts of the film felt like it was just filler. The climax of the movie, hiding in the villa and the killings were too short. Especially since the real life guy tortured them for hours. The killings, especially of the cripple and the mother were too comical for this type of movie. Also, while the inner monologue works, at times it also gave way too much unnecessary exposition.

Sure, other than the fact that various grown men try trick her into sex and her own grandmother (portrayed to be a pathetic whore) tries to steal her youth and trick her into a similar life of whoresmanship
Have you even watching this fucking movie?

>>223625158
I have seen the movie. Valerie herself is still very much a child. She plays with dolls, she is a kid, she's like flowers and swimming. She isn't a whore, she isn't trying to fuck men, she doesn't even understand sex when she sees people having it. It's other characters that attempt to exploit her (the priest, her grandmother) and this becomes a coming of age story for her. But at no point is she a sexual character. It's just a kid, that's why she blows raspberries when burned at the stake.
>>
>>223625296
So now you're backtracking from when you said she was 18 years old and nobody tries to fuck her.
>>
>>223625316

>>223625296

>>
>>223625327
And you're replying to me as though I said it's a sex adventure and not (what I actually said) which is that it's a based and redpilled adventure that teaches young girls to avoid men and also women because both want to abuse and exploit them for various reasons

I stopped getting excited for horror movies. I just wake up every day and god puts me in one. This real time horror experience is better then I made up fantasy film horror.

>>

Surprisingly stacked cast. Reviews say the movie is ass though.
>>

yeah it was good. the dude who played dracula did a great job
>>
>>223627685
Yes, it is ass but has some nice things about it.
>>
>>223626512
I quite like it, right up until the end where it's somehow managed to make soldiers invading a castle seem like a bore. The scenes just went on and on, devoid of much interesting violence.
>>
>>223627634
I've been wanting to properly watch that for a while now, but I'm waiting until I've moved house so I can have my mind clear for a maximally comfy experience. Only ever watched episodes here and there when I was younger because a girl at my school liked it, but even back then I thought that it's actually kino.
>>
>>223624543
I'll get around to the Talisman trilogy, eventually. Currently in terms of King kino, Last month I listened to the audiobooks of Cycle of the Werewolf and Pet Sematary and I'm physically reading Salem's Lot and You Like It Darker.
>>
>>223627956
I haven't started the third one yet but the second one, Black House, is way better than the Talisman

So I've heard, the synopsis for the 2nd one piqued my interest the most but I just so much fucking King to catch up on.

Follow it up with Pet Sematary if you want to feel sad for the next 5 years.

Agreed. The premise of 'monster of the week with two cool brothers and some hot chicks' could very easily be bland and shitty but they pull it off in the execution.

I'm 70 pages in, and it's already quite promising. The first account of the incident at the Marsten House and the dream sequence that followed were already really creepy.
>>223628120
I would say Pet Sematary is currently my favorite, I feel like it has near perfect pacing with the slow impending tragedy and the creeping influence of the malicious force. I felt genuinely spooked both times Jud talked about the dead coming back wrong.
Surprised it never got a Doctor Sleep-esque follow-up considering how much of a raw deal Ellie got and the ambiguity of her psychic premonitions, not that the story ever needed one.
>>223628132

Also heard strong positive opinions on that one. I had the twist spoiled but I doubt that it ruins the story.

Pretty good. Some decent jump scares.Radcliffe did a great job. I didn't like the ending. It needed to be dark, like the original. The original is still better and had the best atmosphere.

yeah, pretty easy to recognize they can't ever make another woman in black 1989.

Okay, had a late a start to my horror marathon so I'll need a few double features to reach 31 movies. What I've watched so far (all new to me, no rewatches this month)

>Videodrome
Definitely my favorite Cronenberg that I've seen. The practical effects are incredible, the plot is unique and trippy, and the ending gave me chills.

>Altered States
Very bizarre movie, but I expected that after seeing Lair Of The White Worm. Actually had a very sweet message about finding love in a world with no meaning. Really disturbing and trippy. The monkey man stuff could have been shorter, it was too ridiculous in a movie that takes itself so seriously.

>The Woman In Black (1989)
Am I crazy if this is my favorite of the 3 so far? One of the best ghost stories I've ever seen. One jumpscare made me flinch and throw my whole body backwards. Just really spooky and eerie overall.

All 3 of these movies have had excellent leading men, and all are from the 1980s, so naturally it's time to pivot to a movie with a leading woman from the 2000s: The Skeleton Key
I already know how this movie ends but that makes me want to watch it more lol, the ending sounds kino.
I'll also watch another movie tonight, not sure what yet.
