I saw it when it came out for free on a military base and I enjoyed it for its cliche-nature. Sometimes it's fun to see something like this almost as an updated look for the genre tropes. >The staging in "Never After Dark" is beautiful throughout: it has both the leisurely pace of a haunted house mystery, the sort of pace that allows you to luxuriate in the setting, and, when appropriate, the kinetic pleasures of a harder-edged thriller.

>a chiller that owes much to Kiyoshi Kurosawa's aesthetic and storytelling impulses.

> a solid setup, a clear establishment of how things work, and great use of the main location for geographic recognition as well as horror set pieces.

> superbly crafted freakout in the the spirit of classics such as “The Shining” and goose-pimply J-Horror films as “Ju-On: The Grudge.”

Jamie Lee Curtis wanted back so they had to reset the timeline for her character to be alive. Again. They could've used this opportunity to make John Carpenters "real" Halloween 2, but he's barely involved.
Michael's 40 years locked up carries no weight.
Michael and Laurie not being siblings is barely relevant.
Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't act like Laurie Strode.
Halloween 2018 is boring.
Halloween Kills uses stupid methods to get a vague message across.
The new Tommy is a waste of a previously good actor.
Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't give a crap that her daughter was murdered and is now playing yet another character in Halloween Ends.
Halloween Ends is mostly a romantic drama.
Corey Cunningham is a pointless character, not taking the mantle from Michael and dying a lame death just in time to be absent for the climax.
The climax carries no weight as we've seen Laurie fight Michael "one last time" before. Twice.
>>
halloween 2018 would have been a great standalone sequel if laurie and michael just both died in the housefire

Images like this make me laugh.
It's so fucking easy to complain and shit on things but they'll never ever suggest things for you to actually watch instead because then you could shit on things they like in return and that would harm their ego.
Don't get me wrong, tons of zoomershit deserves ridicule but you should suggest better things for them to watch instead. Otherwise you just come off as a lazy pussyfaggot.

Is it uncontroversial to say Dracula is the weakest of the main Universal monster movies? I'd rate it below even some of the sequels.
>>
>>223682093
The movie had some great moments and atmosphere.
>>
>>223682175
i'd agree, the hammer stuff dominates dracula.

No I've heard it before. Though I remember really liking Dracula.

The film being blatant with having characters just disappear from the plot was pretty amusing, chief example being the sister's love interest.

Yeah I'd definitely take hammer dracula and I think honestly is more influential, most people who if you told them to draw Dracula would probably draw Lee over Lugosi.
>>223682213
I think it's generally well made out of the 20~ classic universal horror movies I've seen I'd probably rank it around #10 and probably tied with The Mummy.

That's what I meant, him and the grandparents are gone for a good chunk of the latter half of the movie with no real explanation so they can have the elaborate chase sequence. The part where he got shot was pretty funny though

>Other Mommy
God damn that movie sucked. Saw it at the theater tonight, fucking hated it. The real mother could not be less likable and does nothing to earn her "emotionally charged redemptive moment". Plot was paper thin and full of bad ideas. Kid was too dumb to be believable. The only good part was that they skipped the "it's your imagination" meme and had the whole family be aware of the monster in the first ten minutes. Everything else sucked.
>>223682534
Yeah, but what an ending. I was bored and zoned out for the whole movie, but that last shot took me off guard and really made me jump. Most movies never achieve that. Horror is a weird genre insofar as One Good Moment can make the whole movie worth it.

youre not super far off from mine except i think 5 is weak and i love 3. 4 is probably my favorite on atmosphere alone. 2 is very good. 1 is maybe just above 2. i have a soft spot for curse in spite of itself, so thatd go in the middle of the list. the zombie ones somewhere in there. mcbride ones on the bottom. i also like resurrection more than h20 because its silly instead of toothless and bland 00s slasher fare like i said, not too different from yours.
