Basically the latter, still it has other worthwhile bits and it's directed by Wes Craven.

Absolutely. Like good music can make a movie better. Nudity can do the same. Not much, but it's improved movies for me before. And if it's already a great movie, it's a nice bonus.

Just finished a day at the theater
100<100 #012
This is based of a book series called Monstrous Maud, I guess. It's a German/Spanish co-production and it's gimmick I guess is the character's get little line drawings of what they're thinking about over their heads. It's obnoxious. A monster obsessed high schooler gets transferred to a school for monsters, and thwarts a plot to turn all the townspeople into monsters and vice versa. It's a good natured but dumb and dull movie. I appreciate that it fully promotes the concept of romance in kids movies and several of the characters (all M/F) fall in love with each other. There's lots of soundalike pop songs, and it gets super embarrassing when you realize they set the entire climax to the characters dancing to Thriller and then couldn't afford it, lmfao

Movie #4. This has got maybe THE stupidest story of any major horror movie I can think of right now. It's Stephen King at his Stephen Kingiest. I like the movie's manic energy, but you have to do more than shut your brain off, you have to run it in reverse. Both this and Pan's Labyrinth are kinda upside down and backwards remakes of The Shining if you look at them from the right angle.

Rewatched 28 Days Later on a shitty CRT after hearing that Part 3 of Years is on the "backburner" (aka probably cancelled). Image quality still looks rough, even S-video is probably too good a signal since you can still see the low quality of the cameras used at points, but I guess that's part of the film's visual identity for better or worse.
Even though it's an indie film it never felt cheap, the way they shot around London's early hours to really make the setting feel isolated was brilliant. And of course the acting was great and it's still a perfect standalone story that holds up better on repeat viewings. Still can't help but feel bummed about the update on Part 3 though, even if both parts of 28 Years had their rough spots and were unnecessary sequels I still really liked them.

>>223684421
A little sleaze never hurts, but it can't make a terrible film better. Especially if it takes too long to show them titties.

I watched "Jurassic World Dominion" (2022). It had all the stars in it from Jurassic World AND from Jurassic Park 30 fucking years earlier. Dinosaurs are now cheap and plentiful and they're fucking everywhere, in the sea, in the air, in the forest, in buildings, in the streets, in caves underground. So they're used every time to drag out the plot. Need to go from A to B? Nope, dinosaurs. Need to accomplish something? Nope, dinosaurs. Simply need to stretch out the runtime of the movie? Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, dinosaurs. The movie is a ridiculous 2 hours and 26 minutes long, but hey, on streaming more minutes mean more content. The plot is simple as always: The evil gene technology company that is responsible for dinosaurs being everywhere is somehow still allowed to operate and what's more they're given all the money, resources and the brightest minds in the world to work on their plan of completely annihilating mankind. But don't worry, there's 70+ year old stars from the first Jurassic Park movie AND there's Chris Pratt who will stretch out his hand and instantly tame any dinosaur. In the end, they all get to testify in front of the US Congress, and that makes it all good again -- even though the evil gene company is now Italian and of course not subject to US lawmakers. But the UN decides that dinosaurs shall live in harmony with humans, so that's what the dinosaurs do, and all is well. Until the next installment of Jurassic Something that is.

I'm not even going to rate this. It's well made, it's adventurous, it's exciting, it's terrifying. I just didn't appreciate all the plot holes.

Mastorakis was a journalist during the colonels' dictatorship in greece who collaborated with the regime, interviewing (with the police meaning, rather than the journalist meaning) on television people who were arrested during the Polytechnic school uprising of 17th November 1973.
The interviewed then were tortured.
For his services to the regime he was awarded a chance to live his illusion of being an american moviemaker.
