What even was this? I get Speak No Evil was irritating by design, but I imagine watching the original with the "bad" ending is an even frustrating experience with no payoff. Perhaps that's the point like in Eden Lake.

saw cinderella game and insidious out of the further
cinderella was a very low budget battle royale about idols competing to become a top idol
not very creatively done, they had a big breasted lady who who's gotten rid of unceremoniously which is disappointing because the way they focused on her made you expect that there'd be more
there was a twist but just a really bad one, a good twist is supposed to change the way you interpret the events leading up to the reveal but this didn't do nothing

out of the further was a pretty decent spin off film about a new family that gets haunted by a demon ghost person
had some effective scares and creep out moments, and that one scene that felt directly inspired by the backrooms was pretty good, but it fell apart in the second act when the old lady from the previous films is introduced, would've been better as a full stand alone

out of the further is awful and everyone involved should feel bad. i dropped it at picrel. this actress sucks. everything she said was delivered with a tone like she wasnt actually in the movie. her attitude didnt mesh with what was going on. she just seemed to be above it all and suddenly in charge and i dont think that was earned.
but even before her introduction i thought the movie was trying to be 2 or 3 different movies. way too much dentist stuff like they wanted to write a dentist movie and shoved it in there. stupid little recorder talking toy you know is going to be used to set up gay scares. this movie was just tired tropes over and over again.
the scene you mentioned is the only good scene.

all the reasons i gave for dropping it were her acting and the way the character was written. that scene with the grapefruits was very poorly written. that character basically just existed as an exposition dump character. the grapefruits themselves were ridiculous - she just kept pulling out new grapefruits dude it was totally cartoonish. it has nothing to do with her race. you are making irrational arguments because you're sick in the head.
>>
>>223695612
you followed your comment about that screenshot with that you hated the actress, and because it was a black actress only conclusion i could draw was that you hated her because of that leading me to stop reading and not care about anything more you had to say, if it actually wasn't about that then you'd have put all the valid stuff before spewing nonsense

Watched Fall of the House of Usher (1979 tv movie)
I liked it. Not as good as good as the Corman one from 1960, but it's pretty solid. I never read the Poe story, so I don't know which version is closest to the source material, but this is similar to the 1960 one but for a few variations on story and details. Actors were all good. Lowest point of this is the quality of the video. Seems like there isn't anything better than a shitty VHS recording of it floating around. So I assume the source has been long lost. There are other movies based on the story so I'll have to check those out too at some point.

what nonsense did i spew? all the stuff i put up front was my legitimate qualms with her performance, that scene, and the character in general. not sure why you're trying so hard to make this a race issue. i think you need to take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself whether you're part of the problem.

Just finished. RSOS #011
I woke up in a nasty mood so this was a good fit for today. So pointlessly mean and fetishically gross (get something gross in your lead actress' mouth once and it's just a choice, do it five times and it's because you think it's hot.) Alison Lohman is cute as a button (aharharhar). I'm not a big fan of Justin Long, but the guy deserves credit at this point for being such a horror stalwart (this, Weapons, Barbarian, Tusk, Jeepers Creepers, Coyotes, Night Patrol, Goosebumps, etc.) Some negroid in my theater was absolutely assflummoxed by the scene where the fly was walking around on her face and up her nose and crawled in her mouth and left the theater shortly after, lmao. This is probably the farthest anyone has stretched a PG-13 rating, especially considering The Conjuring got an R just for being loud and mean and this is WAY worse than that on both counts (the MC kills a kitten ffs, lmao)
that anvil, lol. that fuckin anvil.

Yesterday was Pet Sematery, tomorrow is The Thing, Tuesday is TCM. If you've got Unlimited it covers them and if not tickets are still only $8. I encourage everybody to take a look at the schedule.

Trying to find a horror movie I saw on TV when I was a kid. My cousin and I were flipping channels and saw one scene, laughed at how silly it was, then watched something else instead. I've always wondered what movie it actually was.
>guy is in a big house, spooky shit is happening and everything is going to hell and he's trying to get out
>he's going up (or down?) some old wooden stairs
>suddenly falls straight down through the stairs while screaming his ass off, this is the part in particular we were laughing at
>there's some freaky stuff in the basement, maybe it was flooded, can't remember
>while the guy is escaping the basement he finds his dog and carries it out with him
I can't remember anything else, any ideas? It was on regular TV around the mid 2000s but it looked old even back then.
>>
>>223697659
The Amityville Murders isn’t canon.
>>
>>223698337
Ironically, I think that's OPs pic. The Amityville Horror.
>>
>>223697588
Just finished the first. Good writing, good casting and directing, but the cinematography felt like it was a tv sitcom. What I mean is that it lacks massively compared to the Exorcist, which came out 6 years earlier, in the context of cinematography. The Exorcist, which takes place in a room focally, gave you a three-dimensional world building perspective, whereas the Amityville Horror which takes place in a whole house is much more limited. It is filmed like a long episode of the Twilight Zone.

>blood coming down the walls

That was cool, it hit you unexpectedly, like the dissonance in the movie's score theme (which is commendable), but why not have wider shots of the lake? Why not expand the story about the root cause of the house? What did they see when they cracked the basement wall open? Was it skeletons? Phil Leotardo's soul? Why not give us insight in George's business? Let us see and don't let everything be revealed post facto through dialogue like a botched wwe story. Show us George hustling with his business so he can buy Kathy the house. Show Kathy's sweet character who chases her dreams and fights for love and thus is determined to buy a house within their means, despite knowing its history, BECAUSE of its history (which makes it sell under the market price) NOT THROUGH DIALOGUE LIKE "I WISH THE PEOPLE WOULDN'T HAVE DIED" show her approach the realtor. She has three children, none of whom are George's. What happened to their father? Is that the tough times she refers to through which father Bennet helped her?
Father Bonnel, don't make him say "you helped me WHEN I RETURNED FROM VIETNAM", show us his fucking house, show his pictures, show his medals, show him volunteering at the VA. In fact, show everybody's house, let us compare households when your antagonist IS A HOUSE. This movie replaced filming pictures with filming blah blah.

There is not an ounce of satisfaction in the movie, or rational decision making.
