Couldn't tell you. I remember the first three pretty well, but all of the others I watched in rapid succession, years ago. So they all kind of blend together in my mind. In light of this, I'll go with 2. It's solid, tonally consistent with the first, and has some well executed kills. Points go to 3 for being fairly different though.

I rewatched Halloween 4 and 5 and actually didn't mind them. I mean they're nothing special and 5 is hard to get through with the psychic link bullshit, the lack of any decent characters and the atmosphere being significantly weaker than 4 (4 genuinely feels like a creepy autumn night in the dead of fall).

The 2007 Rob Zombie version understandably gets a lot of hate but it's my favorite. I like the twist of showing Michael's childhood and actually making you feel sorry for his ass in a way, plus I was a senior in high school when it came out so I guess I related to the main kids a bit more. The 2009 sequel was absolutely horrid though, way too depressing imo especially the unrated version.

Halloween II’s opening hospital section is fucking brutal and actually pretty good. The rest not so much.

So much of II is set in one location, the hospital, I just find it kind of boring and a lackluster follow up to 1

>>
>>223803001
I saw the Friday the 13th remake a few months before this and thought "Oh, maybe these Platinum Dunes reboots won't be so bad after all", this single-handedly flushed that down the toilet.

Really wish that New Line or whoever would've adapted Peter Jackson's pitch for NoES6 and just made it a new beginning for the franchise:
>The story would begin on a meta-take of Freddy, with the once-formidable dream murderer reduced to a joke, no longer a threat to be taken seriously, much like how the character was being recognized in the real world at the time. Freddy is now so weak and pathetic that the teens on Elm Street take sleeping pills just to go into the dream world and beat up on him just for fun. Only one teen slips up, giving Freddy the upper hand at the cost of his life. Invigorated by his first kill in ages, Freddy becomes a real threat again, inducing fear and harvesting its energy.
>>
>>223803001
The only thing I liked was the pharmacy scene that was blended in with the nightmare sequence (Freddy slashes a steam pipe, powder from the pharmacy shelf in the real world spills into the air during the transition, that sort of shit)
>>
>>223803142
They sort of used some of these ideas in FvJ. The Elm Street kids were kept in that lab unable to dream so they could quarantine Freddy.
>>
>>223803043

>During the filming of Vampire in Venice, the boom man on set, Luciano Muratori, stated that Kinski inserted his fingers into Elvire Audray's vagina during a scene where he was supposed to bite her neck, which had her run from the set in tears. Luigi Cozzi stated that Kinski went as far as slamming her to the floor and sexually assaulting her by biting her vagina. Co-star Barbara De Rossi also stated in the documentary Kinski in Italy that she was "assaulted one day. He never respected the script and he was always physical when he had something to do with women. [During filming] he grabbed my breasts and he hurt me".

>>
>>223804055
I maintain that if this movie took out the Halloween elements and was simply a psychological horror movie about a man's descent into madness it'd be well-regarded

It has very little to do with Myers anyway, just substitute him and take out the references to the previous entries. Make it about Corey accidentally murdering a kid and turning into a force of evil. Those are the best parts of the movie anyway
>>
>>223804161
It legit felt like they transplanted a concept and script onto that third movie until like the final 20 minutes with them confronting Corey and Meyers, then it actually felt like a proper Halloween,

I genuinely think this movie is loved by people who lock cages around their penis and pay money to women with daddy issuses to call them bad names.
There is not an ounce of satisfaction in the movie, or rational decision making.
Monster/s are cool but their design is literally "one shape" that repeats.
I guess it can maybe be funny for beta males with 70 IQ because they can self insert into it easily.
And lets not forget that the ONLY capable person in the movie (less incapable than others) was a black woman.

It was though. The incredibly clumsy way they put the story on hold for the mother to do a 15 minute exposition dump then die is shit. You could have easily acheived the same if they'd actually bothered to write characters and have characters talking about themselves, trying to figure out what is happening instead of "this is what a slightly nerdy kid would say in this situation". The first 20 seconds of seeing any human character in this film, you know all their is to know about their personality.

A better, more interesting film would have done something with the characters fighting against their TV personas and oncovering the fact they're abducted and brainwashed.

this is like a bmovie with a budget. so many faux pas' that keep it from being legit. clumsy exposition, lack of style, idiot characters, it's like seeing money burn on my telly. what were they thinking? the actors in it are the saving grace, but the director and writer fucked up.
>>
>>223808638
A lot of the dialogue is really awkward like it was trying to be quotable which ironically would have been more quotable if they had a lead actor with less range than Denzel Washington.

Just watched it.

Yep it's the best thing he's made in a while. It's very much in keeping with his earlier films but he's doing what he does best in it and mostly manages to tell a good story that comes together in the end. He even gets a bit of a budget so the big money shots aren't comedic.

Couldn't help but think of turbo granny in that one part though...

>>
>>223808385
>The Howling, sucked
Quite literally got done watching it. I thought it was alright. I don't get why the guy didn't shoot them while the barn was burning or while they were first locked up inside. The characters were alright, felt like they spent too long on the wolf transformation and not enough time on the characters trying to escape. The pacing felt weird, and the story felt like it needed some clean up. Otherwise, the werewolves looked cool and I liked the concept of there being a serial killer werewolf. I think focusing on him and him being more like the black sheep of the family would have been better, like they hide him but also don't approve of him doing his thing. A more detective based investigation into that leading to the reveal they are all werewolves would have made more sense to me. Also the husband was a nothing character. Could have cut him out of the movie entirely and nothing would change.

>>223808739

Does anyone remember this show? I ask here every year and no one does but I'll ask again.
It was a pseudo-documentary show where every episode was "found footage" of a different cryptozoological creature. I thought some of the found footage segments were just as good as any found footage movie I've seen, but I haven't watched the show in 15 years.
Anyway there were a couple Bigfoot episodes so it's relevant to this anon >>223808705

H4 & H2 are both fucking fantastic and my top favorite slashers of all.

H4

PROS
> Great moody opening credits surveying farm equipment adorned with Halloween decorations.
> Solid score.
> The film certainty has a different feel from the original 2 films but is still very suspenseful & atmospheric in it's own way (and is still dead serious in tone)
> Like 2 the film does a decent job of fleshing out Haddonfield as a real town with culture & history.
> Donald as always is great.
> Harris as Jamie remains among the best performances from a child actor I have encountered in a horror film.
> Rachel is a solid final girl.
> Sheriff Meeker (beau starr) I have always thought to be cool, his professional & trusting interaction with Loomis is more enjoyable then the more strained back & forth between Brackett & Loomis in 1/2. We get a faint hint of laziness/denial on his part with him initially trying to blow Loomis off but once he takes things seriously he goes into war mode like a boss.
> I liked that they wrote both Loomis & Myers as having learned from the events of 78, what with Loomis not hesitating to demand a town wide curfew which he resisted doing in 78 and Myers taking out both the Police & Power stations early on & letting officer Logan take him directly to his targets.
> Build up to & reveal of the police station massacre is chilling as well as the triple Michael sequence.
> This is easily the most powerful we have ever seen Myers on film.
> Entire ending from the battle atop the truck to the shootdown, to the twist is epic as hell.

CONS
> Worst mask of the series.

I’m sure people here will just say that I’m just making up a type of person to complain about, but I think I just spent a lot of my formative years on Michaelmyers.net and encountered that type constantly.

It's very obviously not in the first film.

PROS
> Almost tied with the original in terms of suspense & mood.
> Score is surprisingly unique from the original but still fantastic.
> Film fits with the original almost seamlessly and works perfectly as one long film.
> Great finale.
> Best nudity of the series by Pamela Susan Shoop.

MIXED
> The original mask is reused and does not fit the new actor as well + has damage to the nose. It looks bad in a few specific shots under bright/harsh lighting but looks fantastic in others (when Myers looks back after slashing the Marshal's throat or when Loomis points his gun in Myers face at close range near the end). Generally it looks fine through most of the film.
> Some dislike the reveal of Laurie being Myers sister. I am fine with it.

CONS
> Laurie is bedridden most of the film and does not get to fight back directly as much as in the original.
> Not enough of the adorably cute Jill.

Halloween 2018 would’ve been much better if Laurie was mostly well adjusted and had moved on with her life imo.

That's figurative. Like Quint talking about how sharks.

There’s a scene early on where you can see him in the background making a left turn and I think he did use a turn signal.

Not 6 shots point blank and falling off a balcony.
And he showed other supernatural elements such as lifting the younger stronger man off his feet with a single hand and pinning him to the wall with a single stab. Ans carrying the headstone.

You see the side of Kathleen Kinmont's amazing tits in 4, and they're spectacular. I've been downloading skinemax shit she's in.
>>223810548
It's blurring as I marathon it, but H20 starts with him trashing a woman's office to find out where Laurie is.
>>223810556
4 is better because Danielle Harris really carries it. She's a shockingly good final girl for being so young. 5 is the first one I thought was really bad. 3 is just not very good, but has some Dan O'Herlihy and that fucking creepy Silver Shamrock song.

This actually annoys me. It's the one flaw in Halloween imo. The physics just make no sense, it wouldn't be so bad if he was stabbed higher up in the chest.

He's supernatural so he made the knife do that with supernatural energy. It can't just be because it's a movie and they thought it would look good on camera.

I've seen Fabio Frizzi live twice now, once playing all the Fulci hits, the other playing live to Zombie. if you get a chance to see him perform live, do it. He's an absolute sweetheart and gentleman that loves chatting with fans.

Child Michael's bully kill is excessive but it does shine light on bullying being a problem, sometimes a severe one.

The hospital should have been the climax, IDK what the hell Zombie was thinking after giving us the first movie.

>Wake up
>Find the response to my question I asked for
I kinda wished more directors explored the whole "bullying can make people a monster" behind a more serious realistic sense, but I know has been done to death now though with fictional elements at the forefront starting with Carrie, I dunno if like a school shooter horror movie ever gets made I think it'd have more impact, but that's me. Itd probably never get made out of the pitching stage though studios would probably ask for a bajillion rewrites into like some political shit.

>>223810495
Its not one lol despite being written by King its more of a sci-fi psychological thriller with like tech elements present.
