Great poster edition? OK. Poster better than the film itself.
Hellraiser has more good sequels than Halloween
>>223819596She's like 13 here
>>223819587Hellraiser doesn't have a single good entry including the original.
the first friday the 13th was so shit. i hope 2 is better. that scare at the end did get me tho
>>223819841idk if any F13 movie is a good MOVIE but they have fun aspects to them, creative kills and stunts and shit.

>the final girl is brought back in the sequel and she's a schizophrenic PTSD messlove this trope
>>223819580Alligator 2 is good and underrated.
this guy is a fuckin moronfuck you todd
>>223819841The first 4 films are relatively tight in terms of narrative, particularly 2, 3, and 4 as it takes place over the same weekend. If you're watching F13 for the first time I would suggest watching the first 4 before giving up. 4 > 2 > 3 > 1After that, your mileage may vary. 5 has the best nudity and some interesting lore but among the goofiest actors/characters and a polarizing twist. 6 is either beloved or hated for the direction it takes the series. 7 was butchered by the MPAA, and has a very stupid ending... but it looks excellent and has some memorable characters. 8 has virtually nothing to offer in terms of the premise, should be called "Jason takes a Cruise." Introduces some very dumb shit and Jason becomes almost a cartoon character with constant teleporting and being invisible to victims. After that... don't even bother.

I posted this in a previous thread, and I'm actually having trouble making it through the first Rob Zombie movie. They made two of this shit?

>>223820363Skip Rob Zombie, watch the first film in the next trilogy... then stop forever. You won't find anything worthwhile.I've never seen anyone put Part 4 at the top of the pyramid. I'd be curious to hear how a cheap and derivative sequel surpasses the original, but... whatever.

Klaus Kinski's 100th birthday today, gotta decide which kino to watch tonight, maybe Schizoid or Nosferatu in Venice
Any good 80s/90s horror v-cinema?
>>223821522>I never saw the first Return of the Living Dead movie... and I never saw Return of the Living Dead 2... because I don't like Dan O'Bannon, and I thought it was sacrilege that he's trying to jump on the bandwagon the same year that Romero is doing Day of the Dead and the whole idea of the zombies only eat brains, well that's just ridic-- that's just stupid and ridiculous, so I boycotted that movie. I never wanted to see it. Now, I still haven't seen it to this day, and I'm totally happy not having seen Return of the Living Dead.
>>223821687>Klaus KinskiCompletely unpredictable nutjob and psychopath. I've seen him in a few movies but mainly remember him from going berserk in interviews or on TV talk shows. I think quite a lot of people breathed a sigh of relief when he died. Cute daughter, though I heard she got abused at an early age. I last saw her in "To the Devil a Daugher" - she was 14 when that movie was shot, and she played an 18 year old nun.
>>223821584he's just misinterpreting the quote. all QT actually says is that he thinks it was written as a re-animator sequel, and that it wouldve been the best re-animator sequel, but that they rewrote it for notld. he never says anything about re-animator sequels being "increasingly terrible".
>>223821396It's great, pretty low budget, but a really good Yuzna film. And Melinda Clarke was really hot. She did another horror movie Killer Tongue. I remember I liked it at the time, but that was over a decade ago, so it might not hold up to my memory. She was on that The O.C. show.>>223821522No, it was commissioned as a direct to video sequel to ROTLD and wasn't supposed to be anything else.>>223821760>jump on the band wagonRusso and Romero had a legal dispute over who owned the rights to Night of the Living Dead. Russo won and that's why Romero could never use "Living Dead" in the title and simply called it "Dead" instead.
>>223819129Scream Queens is a fantastic parody that pays homage to horror and slasher films; I recommend it to anyone looking for something different for Halloween
>>223821396This movie has evil cholos
People may be getting confused because the story of ROTLD3 was planned due to Yuzna's disapointment that the Bride of Reanimator only appears at the very end of that film, instead of all the way through. Not because it was meant to be an actual sequel to it.

>>223821760>>223821919Also, his comment about O'Bannon jumping on the bandwagon doesn't really make sense. He wrote and directed ROTLD, but was hired to by John Russo who, as I said, owned the right to NOTLD. And I think he gave himself a "story by" credit on ROTLD, although he probably didn't write any of that movie, just took story credit since it was a continuation of NOTLD.
>>223822537>And I think he gave himself a "story by" credit on ROTLD, although he probably didn't write any of that movie, just took story credit since it was a continuation of NOTLD.The tie-in novel was written by John Russo himself and is based on his original draft, it's basically a completely different story than the tilm.

Lots of horror fans genuinely don't care about anything but kill counts and gore and chase scenes and jump scares, when all of that shit is a far cry from the old ghost stories and gothic tales of the macabre that the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, Shirley Jackson, H. P. Lovecraft, Robert Louis Stevenson and M. R. James used to write about. There is no desire for anything more than haunted rollercoaster rides from that crowd and they make up a considerably large portion of the audience of this genre sadly especially the younger generations. All the stuff that actually makes you think, that stays with you after the screen fades to black, the stuff that maybe even keeps you up at night, that makes you look over your shoulder twice, gets shunned and mocked by those seeking instant gratification. "Horror" just means the same four things over and over and over again with no room for deviating from the same tired formula so that's why none of the great classics "holds up" in their eyes naturally.

>>223826517>Toxic Avenger 2: 8.5/10That's a high rating for a movie most people agree sucks... glad you enjoyed it, anon. They actually apologize for it at the beginning of 4 and say it is the real sequel. 4 is a good one. You might also like Nuke 'em High. It's the most similar troma movie.
>>223825925watching it tonight. But Phenomena first...
so Hope is a kinda silly movie huh
>>223826517>>223826728Also, Tromeo and Juliet. James Gunn directed it. I put it and Toxie 4 behind Toxie 1 in the top 3 ones made by troma.
>>223822765>Bruce Campbell on soup cansThis is amazing lmao
>>223826800I didn't rate this one at all, maybe you have to be into the shakespeare thing
>>223825663The Raft and Chief Woodenhead are fine, what are you talking about?
>>223826478It's a solid 7-8/10 supernatural horror murder mystery with a great atmosphere and cast and period setting but as far as popcorn horror goes it's miles better than Conjuring slop and that's what we should've gotten more of instead of modern jump scare style shit. As far as Depp goes his character was a detective first and foremost and his job was to solve the mystery of who the killer in the village was using scientific methods he developed on his own to catch a regular human to prove to his superiors they were still stuck in the past with lazy detective work and often forcing confessions from suspects by beating them instead of actual justice acquired through deduction and gathering of evidence, eye witness reports etc. but since the killer was a reanimated corpse science wouldn't be of much use after a certain point and it was down to simple detective work to deduce who then controlled the Headless Horseman which the oldguard in New York also didn't engage in which is in keeping with how they establish Ichabod's character and motivation in the beginning ie. he seeks true justice. I don't think that was an issue in the plot as you're making it out desu and as for the killer's motive they were out for revenge not just money and power and how would they even guarantee the family wouldn't come back for revenge themselves if they just threatened them for their possessions and let them go on their merry way? If their plan had succeeded and every witness and family member had been eliminated it would've been the perfect crime as nobody would've been able to pin the murders on them, just some old local legend everyone was scared of.
>>223826944i rewatched sleepy hollow and it doesnt hold up despite having its moments and yes being one of burtons last decent films
>>223826881>maybe you have to be into the shakespeare thingI'm not. But I liked Tromeo and Juliet. I don't know. Isn't it basically just a similar premise? I didn't think it was very shakespearean. And I don't think I've ever had to type that word before either.
>>223826977I was also pretty young last time I watched it. Maybe the absurdity and edginess wouldn't be as endearing to me now.
>>223820189the gangrape scene threw me for a loop. I wonder if that wolfman manga took inspiration from this?
>>223826674Day was such a cringe movie
so im the only one here who saw Hope? are you lame-Os just watching the same bullshit every year? lol
>>223827048We watch Fixkino here.
>>223827017You're brown.
>>223827048>so im the only one here who saw Hope?I was interested in seeing it, but then I heard it's almost three hours long and sloooooow, I'm kind of over movies not respecting the audience's time. Also I'm starting to understand that South Korea sucks at these kind of movies. Japan and Hong Kong in the 80's and 90's know how to make fun horror shlock, but outside of Park Chan-wook, it feels like South Korean directors take all of this shit way too seriously.
>>223827131>I'm starting to understand that South Korea sucks at these kind of movies. Let's be honest, 95% of k*rean movies in general suck ass. Japan mogs easy.
>>223827131>three hours long and sloooooowFor what it's worth I watched it and it didn't feel like a 3 hour movie, I was engrossed and the time flew by. That being said, it could and should have been shorter.
>>223827080i wanted to like this but i couldnt>>223827131i watched it because this guy also made The Wailing but goddamn is it a slog. it has some decent moments but every scene is drawn out so long it sucks the air out of its sails. it has quirky korean humor sprinkled throughout and thats fun but its a tonal mismatch. and the cgi is just bad. i agree with you that korea doesnt do this genre well, especially vs prime era hong kong kinomakers.

>>223827183Are you a cuck? We loved it here.
>>223826944I just thought setting him up as a man of science contrasted too sharply with the "nah the supernatural is real and half of this town can cast spells" place it quickly landed on. I'd have done the exact opposite, made him a detective who is conflicting with his peers because he has an open mind - i.e. make him Mulder instead of Scully. The plot wasn't terrible it just seemed like sucking off multiple of the guys she hates and then faking her own death was elaborate given she's got the death note skull.
>>223827048Didn't look like a horror film, also looked like it was probably the kind of sloppy CGI I hate
Have we apologized to Halloween Ends yet or do I need to return in 4 more years?
>>223827304is this the movie where johnny depp is fainting every other scene?
>>223827334Don’t need to apologize. It was shit.
>>223827328Graham Humphreys also did a killer Evil Dead II poster as well, really captures the manic darkride/fun house vibe of the whole film. British king of the horror movie poster.

Alien 3 analysis. The one that filtered millionshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHE1md3Jb5w&t=23s
>>223821760I love the heel director but this is stupid as fuck
>>223827494Well, you made anons argue about whether the 1970s were the 1980s. It was the religious/demonic possession aspect. Pre-Satanic Panic by about 5 years.
>>223828158i hadnt seen the first 4 in years so im going through them. 3 is up next. that said, the first two are such good movies. i love aliens in particular. cameron firing in all cylinders, a solid surrogate mother plot for ripley, everything hudson says, etc. it all works so well.
>>223828171Thank you. I forget how bad religious psychosis is in this country. It's just a movie and of course they made it a big deal. I remember hearing about a woman having a heart attack watching Passion of the Christ too.
>>223828117this. 80 faggots ruined the film and the genre just by association
>>223828189People back then would kneel over and die from all the africans we have on screen nowadays.
Watching Exorcist right now
>>223828186Aliens is amazing and a classic, but Aliens 3 did something different and went back to the horror roots of the franchise. I talk about it in that video, a lot of people hate 3 for killing off newt and hicks but these are horror movies and not meant to be happy films. and I love all the religious symbolism in 3 and the self sacrifice motifI just like darker films personally
>>223827997The Fake Ghost Catchers (1982)
>>223828189by religion you mean Christianity don't you. just don't mention the completely normal jew swinging chickens round its head, or the completely normal muslim exploding itself on a regular basis, or the completely normal hindustsni worshipping a 7 headed crocodile, or the buddyst pretending not to worship a fat bald statue that has an infinite life cheat.
>>223828229i feel similarly except with the alien franchise. i love the terminator way more than t2 because of its darker tone, predator works so well because its a horror movie core, but something about aliens just works for me more than the first alien.
>>223827334It had a cool concept but it was executed awfully.
>>223828226I have 33 minutes left. it's kind of a chill movie. It's a reminder how much better 70s movies were than 80s. Those beer pints the catholics are drinking at the beginning made me bust mine out and a cold one. look so visually appealing and i'm thirsty
>>223828282I totally get it, I don't bash Jame's Cameron's Aliens at all, it's a great movie
>>223828229>but these are horror movies and not meant to be happy filmsmeh it's not that it was grim that was the problem it's that it undercuts Aliens but then keeps Ripley around as the same character for a new film.
>>223828331I don't even think it undercuts it, it's a continuation of the story it's just that it kills off some characters. you know, in these horror movies where people die? I just think it's weird how people get hung up on that, sure you could continue that story and it has been in other media, but I don't think that's as interesting. people just want more colonial marine stuff and a happy ending
Just put on Alice, Sweet Alice
>>223828379Give us a liveblog
>>223828373the whole core of Aliens is that Ripley learns her daughter has died, and then fights a giant alien mother to save a new child she has bonded with and takes in. And then the next film is like uuhhh just forget like we wanted you to care about that, that yeah Ripley? she's over it, she's suckin and fuckin now. It's stupid, there's no emotional weight to it or even grimness. It's just paved over.
Saw Back rooms with my dad yesterday. He was confused. Would've prefered spending more time in the back rooms with the family.
>>223828433Yeah I hope the next film just gives us way more creepy backrooms.
>>223828158>I'll make click bait by saying something mediocre and disappointing is acherly secretly magically good>>223828373it just isn't a good film. the people making it knew it, read about the production.it's like predator 2, it's better it exists than not, because there's some good bits in it, but overall it isn't anywhere near up to the standard of that which went before it.
>>223828429you're retarded. she literally cries and greaves about it during the whole runtime of 3. you're just talking bullshit now dude
>>223828453>greaves
>>223828418Brooke Shields is dead
>>223828451>read about the productionI know all about it. David Fincher was burdened by meddling execs and an unfinished script and made do with it. if you think it isn't good that's just your opinion lol
>>223828429you'll not convince him, he had his plebbit firmware updated with "Sensationalist prefabricated opinion #2375" and now can't uninstall it.did you know, starwars was actually a flop that was saved in the edit by a woman
>>223828464your point is still retarded, I mean you can deflect but you're talking bullshit. some of the biggest scenes in the film are the autopsy of newt with ripley breaking down as well as the funeral for hicks and newts. it wasn't "paved over" it was a huge part of the movie
>>223828229I keep scratching my head whenever someone insists on seeing Aliens as some purely thrilling action movie full of Marvel tier quips and zero tension. There may be bits of humor in it and banter between characters which also existed in the original Alien but tonally it's still closer to T1 than T2. People really need to get over humor and yes action existing in horror movies too.
>>223828500just say you're seething bro it's okay, you got filtered. I don't need others to give me my opinions, that's why I'm not just agreeing with your retarded take
>>223828453it's not the core plot of the film, it's side content fluff. The prison men not liking a woman on board, Ripley falling for the Doctor, the alien inside of her, the conflict between her and Weyland–Yutani etc, all of that stuff is what Alien 3 is about.
>>223828470it's the opinion of everyone who watched it and thought - "oh. that was a bit crap, guess no more alien films are coming".and that was the case until 4 arrived and saved the franchise by being a work of art and genius.
