Just finished the Amityville Terror. I recommend it.
This movie is so good but it's a disappointing in the sense that it could be GREAT with a better script and handling of its themes.

I finished Hellraiser: RevivalGreat game, and now the third or fourth best HellraiserGlad I put the Female on this, she was the best waifu in the game.
Wtf? I just finished The Amityville Terror and it turns out the main actress in the movie, Nicole Tompkins, was the person they based Jill Valentine on.
>>223846310What especially sucks is they had an opportunity to do just that with the sequels and reboot and completely squandered it.

any worthwhile commentary tracks for horror kino?wes craven's commentary on nightmare on elm street is fairly decent. russell and carpenter on the thing is a classic commentary track. carpenter's commentary on Halloween also isn't badjason lives has a good writer/director one
>>223846458It definitely isn't perfect. It doesn't really know what to do with its social/racial themes and ends up becoming a film solely about folklore and immortality through legend. There are also some nitpicky things in the script, but I'm not as concerned with those.
I saw Black Christmas for the first time last Halloween and loved it, been looking for something similar ever since. Found out there's a fanmade sequel "It's Me, Billy" two-parter on youtube. Any of you seen it/recommend it?
>>223846480>commentary tracksI've never watched one, for anything, not just horror
>>223846472They is crazy, she aged 20 years in 10.
>>223846484>It doesn't really know what to do with its social/racial themes in what way? >and ends up becoming a film solely about folklore and immortality through legend.it was and is always about that some of you retards watching these movies for the first time, because you're fucking gay, are legitimately too poisoned by modern shit
The whipping scene was hot, but the ending was corny as shit.
>>223846496The House On Sorority Row (1982) had very much the same vibes as Black Christmas (at least for me).
>>223846480Wes is great on the Scre4m track, he's passive aggressive about Bob Weinstein the whole timeHayden and Best Emma are also there, one of them, I can't remember which, leaves early because she has to do something and changes clothes in front of Wes
>>223846472>>223846472Wtf happanend? All her collagen disappeared in 10 years. Fuck. She aged like 20 years in 10 years.
>>223846550She looks fucking 40 when she is only 28 years old.
>>223846273kino kills
>>223846550She is only 28. Holy shit. I thought this was one of those “meet an actress from a movie from 70’s” horror convention posters. She looks so old.
This was one of the better ones I’ve watched this month
>>223846265It's on my list for this month!
>>223846524>in what way?It doesn't really come into play in any meaningful way. Take a film like The Exorcist and its themes of religion, faith, guilt, fear (both maternal and more general) are expertly handled and woven into the script. Candyman doesn't really do that. The social themes provide a context for Candyman's existence and motivation, but aside from that it really serves no purpose in the script. Cabrini Green feels like an incidental location rather than a necessary element of the story. >it was and is always about thatYes, but it also establishes social and racial themes and those quickly become an after thought.>>223846524>some of you retards watching these movies for the first time, because you're fucking gay, are legitimately too poisoned by modern shitI've seen Candyman before. I decided to rewatch it tonight as it's been a while since I had last seen it. I don't watch many modern films.
>>223846593She looks 50 here man
Okay its "Weird Modern Horror Movie" nightI'm going to watch "Possum" and "The Void"
>>223846609>Yes, but it also establishes social and racial themes and those quickly become an after thought. No, they don't. You're retarded.
>>223846620This is what a 60 year old jill valentine looks like
>>223846480>any worthwhile commentary tracks for horror kino? The best commentary track ever recorded is for Evil Dead II with Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, Scott Spiegel and Greg Nicotero. They started doing MST3K riffing on their own movie, and you can hear the camaraderie between all four of them. The other really good one is for The Thing with John Carpenter and Kurt Russell, but all of their commentaries together (especially Big Trouble in Little China) are very good, very funny and very entertaining.
>>223846599This, and The Sadness;both ultra-violent, mean-spirited movies I didn't really care for.
I agree with Anon #1, Candyman starts out amazing then fizzles out in the final 30 minutes or so.Still good though
>>223846659Granny Jill.
>mean spirited
>>223846683that isn't what he saidhe upset that the movie doesn't dig enough into the racial themes even though every scene with niggas does just that, and they're all over the fucking movie
>>223846310I was going to watch III Tonight until I realized the Day Of The Dead part was literal so I'm saving it for then. Instead I watched picrel. Had the syfy stamp on it but it felt more like a lifetime spook flick what with all the somewhat sanitized kills and commercial break friendly transitions. Not terrible though if you're into lite horror
>>223846683I think what's frustrating about Candyman is it's so close to being one of those horror films that becomes a mainstream classic like The Exorcist or The Shining and becomes a classic film rather than just "good for a horror film", and ALMOST gets there but not quite.
>>223846705>becomes a mainstream classic like The Exorcist or The ShiningIt isare you a fucking ESL or a euro or some shit?everyone knows candyman
>>223846659She looked mature, like 28, but good at 18 and straight up old by 28.
>>223846677Mean spirited is a good way of putting it.
>>223846658At what point do they come into play after the first half hour or so of the film? They establish the theme and then don't really go anywhere with it. You can certainly attempt to read more into the film, but the script itself doesn't really inform those interpretations. For example, I've heard that some people interpret the ending as a kind of allegory for appropriation. Even if that were true, it's cheap allegory. But in any case, the film certainly doesn't inform that interpretation.
>>223846659You're an balding bitchy homosexual with no interest in horror films just here to endlessly talk about aging
Korean voodoo is kind of kino
>>223846677i'll take em if you don't want them
>>223846747Yes, after Helen gets framed as a weirdo race-killer who vacationed in the hood slaughter niggers and steal babies, she does spend time in an asylum, but upon escaping, she does end up exiled from her own high rise and must return to Cabrini Green as she is now homeless and poor and that's where you go when that happens, and then Candyman reveals that she looks like the white girl who got him hemmed up and killed by a lynch mob with cave-bitch ways, and then Helen defeats Candyman and celebrated by the local "community" because she saved the baby, which absolves her of her previous status, again, as some kind serial killer of black people

>>223846891you suck
>>223846484>It doesn't really know what to do with its social/racial themesthis is what makes it one of the only "black" horror movies that people care about, it mostly just uses the black community as a setting instead of being hung up on racist shit (it's a black character praying on the black community just for its own survival, not necessarily as revenge on them), so its villain has a lot more staying power. He's got a personality, he's not only a metaphor.

>>223847042I did this with Fall 2, the black character was annoying to look at.
>>223847042Yes it would be stupid. The amount of people turning off movies/shows early is an epidemic. Get rid of your ADHD Tik Tok riddled brain, shut the phone off, and watch the movie. I don't care if it's bad. Watch it. You'll be a better person for it.
What a fucking asshole. This is another dude looking up at us. Normalize speaking ill of the dead.>Elvire Audray committed suicide in 2000>In a scathing obituary of Kinski published in 1991, Spanish film director Fernando Colomo alleged that Kinski had tried to rape actress Maria Lamor during the filming of The Knight of the Dragon>Of his three children, only his son Nikolai attended his funeral.
>>223847042It's October, treat yourself to a better movie anon
>>223846310Maybe you all knew this already but what's cool is the film is sort of based on a real person who used this narrow space inside of the walls of an apartment building in Chicago to break into other peoples apartments. One woman, Ruthie Mae McCoy, caught the guy in the act of climbing through a whole behind her bathroom mirror and he murdered her. That's what I remember anyway, maybe got some details wrong, it might have been multiple people who used the passage to commit burglary.

>>223846804But she's never framed as some kind of racially motivated killer in the film. Candyman doesn't even kill exclusively black people. I understand what you're saying about Cabrini Green, and I do think that was probably the point, but for the reasons I've stated, the film doesn't do a very good job of informing that interpretation. I feel as though you could remove the concept of Cabrini Green and the movie wouldn't change much aside from depriving it of its thankfully minimal examples of very on the nose racial commentary. The fact that Cabrini Green is a housing project for black people feels incidental. Helen resembling the girl Candyman fell in love with is also incidental and really doesn't serve any purpose in the script, though I'm still not sure that this is exactly what the film is even trying to imply. It doesn't really serve the racial themes at all and really just provides further motivation for Candyman as an individual.>>223846909I don't expect nor do I want the film or any film to be reduced to allegory. I just want it to deal more directly with its themes like the greatest horror films do.

>>223847262Well for one thing, he doesn't hang over the black community exclusively. And the movie mostly forgets about the racial themes after the first half hour where the focus entirely shifts to Helen being framed. The only time the racial themes return is to remind you that Helen is a white woman like the girl who got Candyman killed in the first place. To me, that's not good enough. In a film like The Exorcist, religion, faith and maternal/familial fears permeate the entire film.

Sleepaway Camp 1-While "fine" I don't think I'll continue with this series, I'm getting real "Basketcase" trilogy vibes. They really sold how grimey Summer Camps are.Fear Street 1978-Watching nineteen year old Sadie Sink run around in shorts for most of the hour and fifty mins runtime scrubbed the mental image of the feminine penis from Sleepaway Camp out of my mind. There's actual nudity in this one but most of it's dude ass, however you can almost see a flash of titty after a sex scene. Besides that, another enjoyable but basic slasher where most of the kills are offscreen because it's against young children.
>>223847988>basic slasherjesus christ you zoomers are so bad at thisa girl dies from getting a curling iron shoved up her pussy
>>223847988the second sleepaway camp has some juicy tits

>>223847988Too fat
>>223847988I don't even like Sadie and that clip is nutsdo whatever the fuck you want, but I don't understand people who don't want to see for themselves. I'm a completionist, once I start a franchise I watch everything it's got (except TV series or video games, fuck that shit)>>223848027the only reason this got any buzz was Garth Marenghi directing it, I really got nothing out of it
Alright I'm gonna watch the final of these body snatcher films. Kidman looking like a snack already.

>>223848219>Don't you want others to enjoy your favorite movies?no, because they watch movies incorrectly
>>223847956True
>>223848246he's right and he's saying dude needs to catch up while other dude is saying "nah, I don't need to see that"you're wrong and anyone like you is wrong

>>223848246>He is gatekeeping, he is saying you aren't a "real" horror fan if you didn't follow whatever path he took to loving the genre. No, I specifically said if you avoided horror movies until you were 27 and now you watch Sleepaway Camp and call it "basic" even though it has some of the most inventive kills of any slasher movie ever and was a relatively early entry into the slasher boom, you deserve to die
evil dies tonight
>>223848279Oh well I agree that Sleepaway Camp is goodMisunderstood, ignore my counter-spergout to your spergout
>>223848278>Why the fuck should I watch 6 direct to video sequels when there are hundreds of original horror movies I still haven't seen? For the love of the game, but again, having "discovered" horror because reddit told you to or whatever the fuck means you simply won't understand>Fuck you, I love horror and you can't tell me that I don't.I am, and will, and obviously you kind of agree because you're spazzing right now
>>223848278you gotta watch a thousand hours of shit so you can find all the gems
>>223848300I've been watching horror since I was 13 years old, I just massively ramped up the amount of movies I've seen in the past couple years. Not because reddit told me to. In fact I don't know if this is more pathetic, but it's partly because /hor/ told me to! Finding a community to discuss all these movies with was a big inspiration.
>>223848292
>I've been watching horror since I was 13 years old>and I just watched Sleepaway Campyeah, sure
>>223848335No I'm not that anon. But I did only watch Sleepaway Camp 2 years ago.I enjoyed it!
>>223848216kek
i used to jerk off to annie belle's big beautiful tits in house on the edge of the park when i was 15
>>223848305I don't understand the aversion to watching sequels, it's a weird modern thing borne film twitter-style rhetoric of the first one being the only good oneI would almost say >Watch the second one if you like the first, and if you don't like the second one, then don't watch anymoreBut you can't do really do that with the longer horror franchises because they almost never follow a linear downward trajectory in quality, a third one could be better than the second, a fourth one could be almost as good as the first, a fifth one could be wildly different from every other movie in the series and appeal to you where none of the others did
Giallo sounds like a hipster pit in the horror genre
>>223848361The aversion for me is because I'm prioritizing original movies first. I have watched some sequels. I watched the first 5 Friday the 13th movies. The first one was my favorite but part 4 is good two. 2 and 3 are okay.I want to watch the Child's Play sequels next
if you don't like all of my favorite horror movies then you're not a true horror fan
>>223848361they think their time is precious as if theyre not going to just waste it scrollimg through nonsense on their phones lol. yeah man these horror franchises are schizophrenic and the quality ebbs and flows. just watch the goddamn movies, quit adopting the opinions of youtubers sight unseen.
>>223848379>twoHoly shit I've lost it.I need to stop arguing with you people, it's causing my mental faculties to decline.
>>223848376It is for the crowd with good taste
>>223848376maybe 25 years agoif you haven't even started with giallo what are you doingyou should see at least five before even stating an opinion
>>223848426I saw 6 and when I stated my opinion you told me to watch 100
>>223848379>The aversion for me is because I'm prioritizing original movies first. Why? Who told you to do that? It's not a natural behavior for movie watching and as you could probably gather from Friday, the first movie isn't even representative of the wider series. But obviously someone told you to stop at the fifth one for some reason, even though many, many, many, many, many people would tell you that Jason Lives is the fucking best one, it's a very common thing people say about the series.
>>223848430and I was right both times
>>223848433No one told me that. It was my decision. I stopped there because I wanted to watch other movies.I didn't stop forever.I just am watching other stuff right now. I have a large watchlist.
>>223848426Fuck off. I was about to put on Deep Red but your post made me physically ill that I’m just gonna put something on with Joe Spinell in it
>>223848461Are you the same motherfucker who watched just the first Nightmare on Elm Street, professed your love for Nancy repeatedly, but then refused to watch any of the sequels even though she's in fucking two more of them?
>>223848462oh no
i love tooth gaps
>>223848469Yes. Also if you remember I said I would watch the sequels, just not right now. What are going to do? Cry? Call me a faggot? Call me reddit?I'm going to keep watching and enjoying horror movies at my own pace no matter how angry it makes you. There is nothing you can do to stop me!
>>223848492>What are going to do? Call me a faggot?YesFaggot
>>223848478
>>223848501gorgeous!
i do have sympathy for the zooms. when we were young, we had video stores, walls and walls of box art to entice you, a real tactile grass-touching experience. now youve got a collection of fucking pixels, a supersaturated market, the peanut gallery publicly proclaiming their shit opinions to the world. if i hadnt slow rolled horror from the age of 7 with whatevers on cable then whatevers popular and so on, i wouldnt even know where to start. we had two decades of trash fucking ghost movies shoved down our throats.
>>223848492>Also if you remember I said I would watch the sequels, just not right now.Do YOU remember that that was like three weeks ago?>What are you going to do?Thus far, I've watched at least four horror movies every day this month, many of which I've already multiple times, but still enjoy.Unless you can top that, Mr. Watchlist Faggot, you have no room to condescend, because you're obviously just procrastinating here
>>223848355I will now watch your movie
>>223848517Yeah it was 3 weeks ago, I already have a set watchlist this month, no room for ANOES sequels. Maybe next year. That's great that you're enjoying October so much. I am too, but I'm watching 2 movies a day and only ones I haven't seen.
>>223848527*Points gun at your head*
>>223848542And you waited until you were 27 to watch a Nightmare on Elm Street because?
>>223848517It’s not a race, anon. Watching the most things in a day doesn’t give you a profound understanding on anything really.
I should watch this version, not the 06 remake, right anons?
>>223848563>it's not a raceI agree and I wouldn't have mentioned it at all if that autist didn't bring up his inflexible watch list every other post>doesn't give you a profound understandingit's not hard to have a better understanding of horror franchises when the other guy thinks the sequels are pointless
>>223848516I'm sure they've had a bunch of FNAF creepypasta videos and obscure videogames to make up for it. But in terms of movies, yeah.
>>223848560I watched it 2 years ago when I was 24.Because when I was a teenager I naively believed that classic slasher films were all stupid and not scary. I thought since they were older they would be goofy.I didn't actually give them a chance until I came to my senses in my mid twenties. I couldn't believe how amazing ANOES was and how wrong I was. I'm still riding the high from watching it, it's incredible.
>>223848565yes, the original Omen is a masterpiecethe remake is just a horror remake and really the original works more like a conspiracy thriller than a horror movie in the first place
>>223848492We can ban you from here
>>223848563> Watching the most things in a day doesn’t give you a profound understanding on anything really. You need to be watching a minimum of three movies a day in order to post here.

what happened to mia goth's eyebrows? did she lose them in an accident
sorry but if you havent watched at least 20 lesbian vampire movies you cant call yourself a horror fan. thats the only metric that matters.
>>223848633They are a bit goofy, but ANOES is genuinely scary. It balances absurdity with scary very well.Okay that's fine, I'm going to keep posting here though you can't kick me out, it's not your special club
>>223848629you literally areyou called Heather Langenkamp the most beautiful girl ever or whatever and you literally won't watch other movies she was inYou can't even do waifus correctly

Gonna watch "The Void"
Should I actually watch X/Pearl/Maxxxine? I can't tell how it's received here
>>223846236Just saw Hokum. I enjoyed it, but the guy seems capable of only one story >Some person does some crime (murder) in a weird/creepy locale>Other person arrives, sleuths and gets to the bottom of it>Some supernatural/spooky entity runs parallel to the plot, and delivers comeuppance to the murderer
>>223848747based>>223848755Trust your gut anon. Mia Goth terrifies me.

>>223846599This is one of the best newer horror movies I’ve seen.Tbh horror movies are not really scary - jump scares give a little surprise, gore is gross, some things like anticipation of a jumpscare cause anxiety - this movie is not particularly scary but it stuck with me for several days after I saw it which is much more than I can say for most
>>223848755They're worth watching, though nothing too special. X is pretty fun but unremarkable. Pearl is probably the best and most interesting and Maxxxine is somewhat of a mess but still pretty stylish and intermittently fun.
>>223848759i loved hokum but i was unimpressed with the wooden golum movie. i have caveat on my 2026 list.
>>223848755I'd say just watch Pearl, but it being better than X as well as a prequel probably contributes to people liking it. I largely hated X.There's probably better October watches.
