My favorite genre was initially sci-fi but I came around to horror after watching around 200 horror movies.
The variety is incredible, there are so many different ways to make a movie spooky, scary, or unsettling

to the anon who was looking for recommendations for his wife in the last thread:

Classic universal monster stuff always fun, could be a little slow but lots of atmosphere.
I'd also throw out:
>Rodger Corman Poe movies, lots of colorful costumes and spooky sets with fun acting. Might be a little slow if she doesn't watch older movies much

>90s/early 00s stuff. Dusk Till Dawn, The Craft, The Faculty

>Bram Stoker's Dracula more of a gothic romance with crazy cinematography than traditional horror

You keep listing reasons for why you're gay as excuses.
I'm sure you also "thought it was dumb" and "didn't like being scared" and now after spending 20 years being dismissive of the entire genre, you here to be insecure and passive aggressive about having still not seen Nightmare on Elm Street 3
It's your bad, not anyone else's.

>Deadstream’ Directors Joseph and Vanessa Winter to Helm Horror Movie ‘Future Me’ as Longevity Pictures, Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios Ink Multi-Picture Deal (EXCLUSIVE)

..set to direct horror-thriller “Future Me,” based on a viral Reddit short story by Daria Vasileva. The film is the first title of a multi-picture deal between L.A. and UAE-based production company Longevity Pictures, indie genre label Spooky Pictures and Abu Dhabi’s Image Nation Studios.

Originally published in the “NoSleep” subreddit — the online community dedicated to user-generated horror fiction — “Future Me” follows a man “who receives a deeply unsettling email from his past self via the ‘FutureMe’ website, a message that draws him down a terrifying and increasingly surreal rabbit hole,” according to its synopsis.

Joseph and Vanessa Winter’s next project is the previously announced film “Amityville,” a radical new spin on the Amityville Horror franchise

“Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios have built an incredible track record for championing high-concept, creator-driven horror storytelling, so expanding our partnership felt like a natural next step,” Nassif said in a statement.

“After the success of ‘Backrooms,’ the potential of internet lore as fertile ground for adaptation has become undeniable,” ‘Future Me” is exactly the kind of project we’re looking to get behind — a chilling premise with a passionate existing fanbase
>>
>>223857071
I was dismissive for about 15 years, not twenty.
It's not my bad. It's okay that I haven't seen that movie.
I'm glad you're so passionate about horror, but it's really immature of you to dismiss others who are getting into the genre just because it took them longer than you. Don't you WANT other people to find joy in the things you love? I'll watch Dream Warriors next year probably
And yes, I'm aware it's immature of me to have stayed this argument witj my passive aggressive remarks.
I don't normally prolong multi-thread arguments but you've really struck a nerve, trying to gaslight me into thinking that I don't actually love the genre that has consumed my life.

For me I initially ignored it when it first came out because all I knew about it was "lol Paris Hilton is a whore" so I never watched it.
It was during my second watchthrough of Supernatural that got me to finally check it out. Paris is in an episode of the show because Padalecki co-starred with her in House of Wax.
Ended up loving it, and to my surprise, Hilton's character was one of my favorites.
Her deadpan "why?" as a response to the other chick wanting to investigate the spooky shit cracked me up, and won me over.

And I say that as a person that loves to re-watch some shitty B-movie slasher flick that is objectively not a good movie.

Netflix review: 'BELOW' miniseries
New definition of bait & switch right here, don't waste your time.
What starts off well enough to maybe hook you, ends up being nothing it presents itself to be. Anything presented as supernatural or unexplainable ends up being conveniently perfectly normal and man-kind is the real cosmic horror, climate change, rich people bad, climate change, climate models are too conservative and climate change—thank you for viewing. The squid literally yanks people off the coast, but it's a normal squid you see, she's just a mommy defending her giant iceberg eggsac that appears out of nowhere. That's not even the most retarded part either. Kill whoever made this and do it fast.

Not gonna lie, I didn't hate it. I mean, there's at least one dud episode (the self-help guru), and it ends kind of abruptly, but the "wokeness" was a bit overblown, and I didn't hate Toxic Avenger/Weapon X Jason, what little we got of him.

The unfortunate thing is if it gets cancelled, it's going to leave some threads hanging, like the hippie chick still on the run after the hippies were massacred. Not to mention the company probably following up on Elias disappearing in the Crystal Lake area.

I watched this one, City of the Living Dead, and Zombie since I read that a lot of the songs on this album were inspired by those specific films.
Thought they were mediocre. The plot was practically non existent which I'm assuming is because these movies were cut and edited to pieces before they got shipped out to the grindhouse drive-ins were they were showing. Some fun kills especially the gratuitous drill to the head scene.

He's mad at her for making him go to the camp. He's begging her not to make him go at the beginning, and he's basically left to fend for himself while she's working.

That said, the show definitely did give Jason a bit of the Disney Quasimodo treatment in an attempt to make him more sympathetic, because deep down, your average audience wouldn't have been able to sympathize with a deformed mongoloid making retard sounds.

this would've happened a billion times already
that's not enough of a reason for him to be unreasonably mad at her to the point of cutting off all contact
while they did come up with the gay "explanation" that he's a super mutant from fallout to please retards like you who were confused about a big retard guy killing people, they didn't mention anything that would've made sense like oxygen deprivation fucked him up more or that he becomes dumber every time he "dies" or anything like that
again, I'll state this fact, anyone who needed the big retard who killed people as revenge for his mom to have more pathos are retarded, and anyone who accepts "he was a lab experiment" as their desired reasoning is even more retarded
he killed people because he's retarded and is mad about his mom being killed, and then eventually he came as an undead creature, because he was still about it, and for some reason you fags can accept that when it's 200 year old ghost story but not when it's a movie franchise you've been told is dumb

>>
>>223861917
i love gonjiam. most found footage is garbage but this worked really well.
>>
>>223862105
There are two special moments with the ghost girl following the guys that got me really frightened, and that doesn't happen often. So even if the rest is not as good overall, I appreciate the film for those, just as I appreciate any other lesser film that gets me the chills with a particular scene.

>>223862105
Gonjiam is one of the better found footages, but I couldn't help but compare it to Grave Encounters 1 and 2 which I had watched recently before seeing it, and which are better in my view. It's not a fair comparison though because despite the setting they're still pretty different. I should watch Gonjiam again some time I'm thinking.
>>
>>223861711
Blame zoomservatives. They're your people.
>>
>>223862196
I really liked Grave Encounters too. Problem with comparing both is that even if Gonjiam has better technical quality, Grave Ecounters ground style feels better for a found footage thing. Or maybe because western - eastern differences I don't know. Both are good. yet i also rate Grave Encounters 1 a bit above to the other

Is cringe watching, you can say "ok this is bad but not that legend bad level" and then something incredibly stupid happens (random clips of the game, the slow motion, the dead screens) that makes it fucking stupid and have to laugh. If there were not retarded technical and editing things, would have been a proper 3/10 film. But funnier too watch with friends to get a drink shot everytime a game scene appears. The shootout long scene is hilarious too.

Good trilogy, certainly not a case of diminishing returns with each sequel like Basket Case and TCM. Come for the reputation and directing with the first one and stay for the tits and Pamela Springsteen's performance as Angela in 2 and 3.
Not sure which is my favorite but III's definitely the most humorous Shocked that they let the rich white girl character say Nigger twice, but the two token black campers definitely were some niggas. The bit where the thuggish one pulled the gun on Angela got a chuckle
Pretty good stuff, and I respect the fact they bowed out after three movies.

The box set that came out in 2002 had an unfinished version of 4 on it. My memory is it wasn't too watchable because it didn't have an overall narrative and felt like a bunch of random scenes.
