Obsession is not complicated. I know some people on here have difficulty understanding the thematic subtext of the film but in general I think people get it. So to act as if it is some impenetrable, subtle masterpiece that only women are capable of comprehending because of lived experience is really funny. It's a good movie but its quality has been vastly overstated because it directly touches on hot topics of the culture war zeitgeist, in gender politics/dating culture. It's similar to how people rave about I Saw the TV Glow because it's dealing with trans themes, although Obsession is clearly way better than that movie.
