Gentlemonsters, it's time to do the mashhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF69rFld9zQ
>>223973774I meant gore porn like Saw and Hostel >>223973777The fact It'll be nothing but torture porn and simultaneously they're not going to have the balls to touch half the fucked up shit that happens in the comics has already put it on my never watch list. Imo it's 15 years too late for a movie adaptation. The comic hasn't even had a popular release since 2013.
>>223973811Lon Chaney as The Phantom of the Opera, you goofball.
>>223973781>no universal witch
first for Bava
>>223973781Which wins in the Monster Mash Dance Competition?
>>223973781Anybody else remember this documentary? It aired on AMC in the 90's during their Universal Monster marathon? Very comfy, love hearing Ray Bradbury wax poetic about idolizing The Invisible Man.https://youtu.be/-hKaU5p6DIA?is=hyqjefV5bWG0d1z-
>>223973550I hate this faggot so much holy shit
Is the Gill Man the most fucked and shat on Universal Monster? They haven't given him a movie in half a century and there seems to be no interest in ever doing so. Even his fans seem to have jumped ship over to the Invisible Man. He's got nothing left. No future. What's he going to do?
hostel 2>3>1
About to start this baby up
>>223973833Wolf Man's the only one I could imagine having "moves" of any kind. Even Phantom I don't take for a dancer even though he's musically gifted
>>223973836entire movie is the next victim being incredulous about death's plan until the movie ends with a bloody fartIt is funny death has to figure out an ever increasingly complicated Rube Goldberg machine of situations to cause accidents.
>>223973860>They haven't given him a movie in half a century and there seems to be no interest in ever doing so.John Carpenter tried in the 90's before The Mummy reboot and Guillermo del Toro tried in the 2000's (it's why Shape of Water happened), James Wan tried but that shitty Wolfman movie killed it, Universal is the holdout.
>>223973877I think Frankesntein's Monster would've tried if he spent more time with the old man, he'd play his violin and teach the monster to dance, would've been nice.
>>223973860Probably because "spooky water monster" is the most generic and overused trope of movie monsters.
>>223973917Compared to spooky vampire and spooky reanimated corpse?
>>223973931A vampire can have any kind of personality and character. Lagoon creature is limited to monster
>>223973860>They haven't given him a movie in half a century and there seems to be no interest in ever doing so. Even his fans seem to have jumped ship over to the Invisible Man. He's got nothing left. No future. What's he going to do?It's not Universal but it exists.
>>223973610Watched this over the weekend while shitfaced and stoned. Trippy fucking movie.
>>223973917>overused trope of movie monstersIdk how you can think that. At least, there's not that many fish man movies. More killer squid things in my mind.
>>223973860>get another Creature from the Black Lagoon>it tries to emulate The Shadow over Innsmouth insteadWould you be mad?
This was decent. It's the first Ti West film I've seen that had zero cucking. Even his VHS short had cucking.
>>223973781It's crazy how The Phantom of The Opera is one of the earliest film adaptations, and is still one of the closest to the source material. They changed the ending slightly, but otherwise it's a very faithful adaptation of the Gaston Leroux novel.
Hey anons, just finished my 31 Days of October Challenge. I've been watching them in small binges. Go ahead and judge my list, I tried to mix in plenty of movies I hadn't seen. 1. Backrooms (2026, rewatch)2. Bio-Slime (2009, new)3. The Being (1983, rewatch)4. Spawn of the Slithis, or Slithis (1978, new)5. Resident Evil (2026, new)6. The Strangeness (1985, rewatch)7. Godzilla vs Biollante (1989, rewatch) 8. Project Wolf Hunting (2022, new)9. Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (1985, rewatch)10. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (1987, new)11. Beware the Blob! (1972, new)12. The Dunwich Horror (2009, new)13. Without Warning (1980, rewatch)14. Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2007, new)15. Nightbeast (1982, rewatch)16. The Whisperer in Darkness (2011, rewatch)17. The Void (2016, rewatch)18. Alien Factor (1978, new)19. Nightmare on Elm Street 4 (1988, new)20. The Deep Dark (2023, rewatch) 21. Nightmare on Elm Street 5 (1989, new)22. Life (2017, new) 23. Blob (1988, rewatch)24. The Crawling Eye (1958, rewatch)25. The Ick (2024, new) 26. The Leaching (2026, new)27. Tentacles (1977, new)28. The Cycle (2026, new)29. The Suckling (1990, new)30. The Mutations (1974, new)31. The Gorge (2025, new)
>>223974088Pretty low bar to set. It was certainly "decent". Just decent.I don't recall what cucking there was in The Innskeepers.
>>223974118>It was certainly "decent". Just decent.I mean I liked it, a solid 7/10.Movies about vulnerable young women in isolated spooky houses get under my skin, I was scared the whole time.I haven't seen The Innskeepers
>>223974116>The Void (2016, rewatch)What'd you think of this one? The special effects are incredible and the premise is neat, but I feel like it's missing something, not sure what.I enjoyed it though
>>223973836Just finished. The train wreck ending is the best part of the movie. Probably spent their entire budget on it. Onto number four I guess.
>>223973860The worst thing is that Del Fatso got the chance and he instead made a tumblr fanfic about fucking a fishman and racism being bad.Not even Sally Hawkins tits could save it.
This is certified Cagekino though the ending fucking sucks, and this comes from someone who usually likes vague endings, but this shit doesn't have any ending at all
>>223974194Forgot the pic
>>223974209Funniest movie he's ever done
fresh
>>223974209It’s was retardedly funny, more comedy than horror like cooties
>>223974177>fourth movie is literally named The Final DestinationFucking hate when studios do this shit. Especially when the fifth one is just 5.
>>223974209saws all saws all
>>223973781>Universal Monsters editionbuh-buh-buh BASED
>>223974164Honestly? It’s one of my favorite movies of all time, I’m glad you picked it out of the list. It’s not a perfect film by any means, but something about it feels special. The practical effects feel like they were done with love, and the isolated rural setting draws on the obvious Thing inspirations in a way that compliments instead of detracts. Basically I recognize the movie as an imperfect piece of art, but I’ve also seen it dozens of times and I’ll always compliment it
>>223974082I'd be giga pissed. All they need to do to make a new Black Laggon movie is make it more like a modern slasher. Maybe it's budget that's keeping them from doing it. They'd need a boat, a lagoon, underwater swimming scenes, a suit etc. That's more than a mask and a knife.
>>223973916there is no reason at all why a head should be that square
>>223974244My head looks like Steve from minecraft, my friends make fun of me for it.
>>223974181racism is bad. you're mentally unwell
>>223974248American History X proved racism is justified at the end. Checkmate
>>223974248Oh yeah Mr Smart Guy?Name one racist horror monster villain
>>223974248Cancer is bad, that doesn't mean it's entertaining though does it moron.
>>223974232To add to my post, as a huge Lovecraft fanboy and a shameless fan of cosmic horror, the Void is arguably the best cosmic horror movie that never explicitly mentions anything in the Cthulhu mythos. It adapts the themes in a way that effortlessly carries the same motifs, I like that it tries to build its own mythos as the movie unfolds
>>223973815https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzQO4SlcofQ
>>223974136You might consider giving that one a watch. It's definitely one of those "only the last ten minutes matters" sort of movies, depending on who you ask, but it was fun enough. Won't deliver as much tension as The House of the Devil though.
>>223974181>The worst thing is that Del Fatso got the chance and he instead made a tumblr fanfic about fucking a fishman and racism being bad.Did you not see the post above? He only made The Shape of Water because Universal rejected his Creature From The Black Lagoon proposal.
>>223973781Is Frank the most relatable monster?
>>223974244The idea is that it's basically a can topper, that's why the stitches are just above the brow. Pop the top off and put in the brain.
>>223974242I agree with you. In a way, we got spoiled a bit by the 90s/2000s.
>>223974326I've related to him since I was three years old. Being ordered around by adults and having limited vocabulary as a child but thoughts in my head with no way to express myself except through broad emotions like anger and sadness made him deeply relatable.
>>223974311It would have been basically same film with a different name.>he tried pitching a version focused more on the creature's perspective, where the Creature ended up together with the female lead, but the studio executives rejected the concept
>>223973820No I completely agree with you, I’m fucking flabbergasted that they’re making a Crossed movie. I’m guessing it’s coming off the Boys and the Sadness but still, what a bullshit idea.
>>223973781It's a shame that This Island Earth wasn't a horror film about a martian monster, because the suit and design was incredible. A lot of work to just throw him in at the end as a plot device.
>>223974261....?
>>223974416What was racist about him?
>>223974467
>>223974416Is this a Wendigo monster movie or something else?
>>223974491Cannibal ghosts and lots of tits
I knew this was gonna be garbage, but at least it's comfy garbage. (Also takes place on Halloween, which is a current bonus.)
>>223970539Watched 2. Didn't like it as much. Things got convoluted and the girl power shit was stupid. The cute and funny clown was nice at least. Is the third one worth watching?
>>223974515Are they ghosts that started eating other ghosts and became cannibals or cannibals that died and became ghosts?
>>223974177>immediately after the terrible CGI crash and PS2 debris effectsYeah I gotta take a break. This one is so fucking bad. Give myself a buffer day.
why does italian horror try so hard to make the soundtrack as ear splitting and repetitive as possible? there has to be some real cultural background to this because it's every movie.
>>223974538The second one, but perhaps more importantly, they're also Neo-Confederates from the Civil War era. It's a fun time, anon.
>>223974538Dead Southerners from a town that was massacred by Union troops and now eat Northerners in modern day as revenge
>>223973824his village just got internet so he had no way to know
The new Insidious was shit. The dentist stuff was disgusting. The geek squad was replaced with a black female tattoo artist. The climax was lifted straight out of Jumper. All the references to the previous films just made me wish I was watching those. Frankenstein was boring. But the scene where the guy carries the dead girl to town and everyone reacts was great. Still the majority of the film is just people talking in parlors.
>>223974619I have to agree about Insidious. I mean the grossout stuff was amusing, but felt out of place. It's just become a one stop shop for generic spooks, for the "lets go see that horror movie, the scary one" crowd.
Alright putting on Neba Afuta Daku
>>223973527 #And there's not a statue, not even a plaque dedicated to him anywhere in Hollywood! Now I knew he had a temper. I knew he had a thing for aspiring actresses. So when he was cancelled, I wasn't upset. I didn't ask "who snitched?". Because I knew that was the business we chose!
>>223974536It's a Christmas movie. Cute and funny clown girl is no longer cute and funny. If the chosen one stuff in 2 bothered you, you might find 3 a bit annoying, but it almost plays second fiddle to Art going around doing holiday antics. The biggest complaint I had about 3 was how they unceremoniously kill a main character off screen. Still no idea what they were thinking with that one.
>>223973872Wow the main character in this was a fucking idiot
>>223974772>Still no idea what they were thinking with that one.My guess? Perhaps they didn't. They did the classic "completely mutilated character" death which means it could have been someone else.
I don't understand the obsession with relationships. I have a perfectly healthy parasocial arrangement with several women who would cross the street to avoid me if they knew what I looked like. The Invisible Man is an underrated film.
>>223974801I'm hoping that's the case. Perhaps they then swoop in to save the day in Terrifier 4. Kind of corny though.
>>223974780Like you wouldn't go with the guy who kidnapped your gf back to his house to get answers, and without even hurting him or telling anyone else where you were going yeah sure bruh
>>223974805try lurking at the bottom of some swimming pools as they swim overhead to change things up
Thought this listed David Bowie in the credits, it was actually just an actor named David Bowe instead.
>>223974819You forgot knowingly agree to drink the sleeping pill laced beverage so he can take you someone while you are unconscious
>>223974833I was just trying to cool off. Stop laughing, Parker.
>>223974836>David Bowie... wasn't even the singer's real name. His name was David Jones, and when he started out, people told him he had to get a stage name because David Jones was already taken by the singer of the Monkees. So he came up with the stage name David Bowie.
>>223974871huh. now I don't feel so bad having mispronounced his last name.
People keep calling me creepy because I post about actresses who were child stars. Meanwhile, nobody has acknowledged my excellent taste in Italian horror. This is censorship. This is persecution. This is why I don't go outside. Stop laughing.
>>223974903I remember that in previous years /hor/s there was an anon who used post a list of horror films with underage nudity in them. I've seen them all ofc, but I think the tranny jannies ban you if you post it now.
Sometimes, I wonder what a Hammer version of the Invisible Man and the Creature from the Black Lagoon would have been like.Same as I wonder what director could have given us 90's/2000's remakes in the same vein as Coppola's Dracula, Branagh's Frankenstein and Johnston's Wolfman (Sommers' Mummy is fucking great but it's a completely different story).I imagine Del Toro would have loved to do a remake of CftBL, seeing how he basically made an unoficial one with Shape of Water. Also, seeing how awesome Sleepy Hollow is, maybe Burton would have done a nice Phantom of the Opera. What are your ideas, /hor/?>>223973781Cool pic OP, but it should be 3x3 and include Claude Rains as the second Phantom of the Opera.
>>223975003I think it's sad Hollywood hasn't seen the value in CFTBL.I mean it has a good basic skeleton which is going for a boat trip up a river. Tha'ts Anaconda right, you get all the fun the snakes and monkeys and maybe tribespeople and whatnot. And then there's with the aspect of the creature being the last of it's kind, and pseudo lusting after the female lead. The other thing from the original that I think is special is the opening, it's quite unique. It sets the stage with this monologue about the creation of the earth, and about the vast passage of time, the oceans, and evolution. Sometimes I wonder if it influenced Ringu, because they both open with shots of a black ocean.
>>223975048Also, I guess you could say one difference is that all the other universal monsters can speak, so they make for easier character dramas. And the trick of the creature is to show his character arc, but I don't think that's too hard.
>>223973781Which had the best girl?
>>223975125for me it's Julie Adams. the jconn of the 50s.
>tfw no qt german expressionism goth gf
>>223975287
>>223975313It's not fair bros
>>223974528I really enjoyed it. I didn't take it seriously and just viewed as a 'bad' movie and had heaps of fun with it.
>>223973872>>223974780>>223974839It's another cautionary tale about the dangers of obsession. Rex wasn't naive, he was fully aware he was being lured into a trap, but the entire movie shows how he's unable to let go of his obsession with knowing what exactly happened with his wife even years after she was kidnapped, and can almost safely be presumed to be dead after so long and how this obsession consumed his life even after he got himself a new girlfriend who ended up leaving him because of it. Rex was frustrating to watch the same way the guy from Audition and Bear in Obsession was, they all let their personal obsessions with women they were in love with override all their logic and reasoning and ended up suffering heavy loses because of it.
