Speaking of canon relationships, does anybody else feel like Ron/Hermoine is kinda fake?The strongest argument for it is that Hermoine is spiritually similar to Ron's mom in being nagging/overbearing, so if a GF/wife is a replacement mother then she's a good fit. However, we learn in the first book that Ron's greatest desire is to stand out from his brothers, Dumbledore explains it out loud in the scene he has with Harry and the Mirror. It's somewhat hard to believe that Ron's anima would call for someone who would hold him in a henpecked little boy role, never to escape for all the long years of his life. I think he would want someone who sees him a little more how he wants to see himself, as a hero in his own right. I'm imagining a girl a year or two younger who sees him as Harry Potter's best mate and not Yet Another Weasley.Similarly, it feels really odd to me that Hermoine gets committed to any guy at all. She has a strong feminist vibe and I think if she did end up committing to the family life, it would only be in her late 20s after she's done at least a little career woman living. I'd see her more like Ginny, trying different boys out at different times (starting with Krum) and discarding them once bored. I also find it hard to imagine her dating much of anyone in that school when she can compare all of them to her friend Harry Potter, slayer of basilisks and terror of dementors.
