>>224025331It's not that easy to get right. You have to draw on several distinct creative wells, give them a reason to exist, have innate sincerity to sell it, and then package it all in a way that makes sense both within and with respect to the format.i don't think it failed as much as you don't see a lot of it talked about because so much of it ends up being flat. buffet infinity is worth watching though. it's a bit stretched out but has a lot to offer.
>>224025279I saw this movie several times on TV back in the day and every time I wondered if a large piece of the movie was edited out because I was always confused towards the end. Was the tv version that bad or si the movie just nonsensical towards the end?

>>224025302I’m going to blogpost on OP’s behalf. I watched Salem’s Lot a week ago, I think it was on Amazon Prime or Tubi, and it still holds up. Solid horror movie and I’m surprised they’d put something like that on TV in the 70’s. I watched it because it’s my favorite Stephen King book and my dad said he had nightmares after watching it in the 70’s. Way better than the It miniseries in the 90’s.

>>224026633>tapes had nothing to do with the disappearancesOh I like this! Michael must have been the accomplice cause that was his hand on the last tape, so why didn’t he recognize the protag? There is also the way he changed his tone during the script recording half way through, maybe the protag told him at one point to not recognize him if they cross paths again and just play along? Who was calling the phone, all in his head? So many more questions
>>224026985I think James saw one of the original broadcasts and that's how he knew about the mask. Then he just tried to tie the coincidences together. I don't think he had anything to do with making the tapes

>>224027109Shame. Since I already watch the first half of LifeForce 3 times a day, in tribute to Sir Picard I will finally zip up my pants and watch the rest of the movie.
>>224026936>>2240269744 is fine, it's just got such a hard cliffhanger ending that 5 had a lot of shoes to fill and instead they did a bunch of nonsense

i'm sorry for not liking halloween that much. it just never clicked for me

is hellraiser judgement good
>>224027281It's Night of the Comet, I fucked that up
>>224027308well IIIIII like a vampires and near dark double feature
>>224027312idk if I'd say good, but it's got some good elements
>>224027212Night of the Demons
>>224027218>>224027239Wrong. I get that it's a bit of a slow burn for a slasher but everything from the atmosphere, music, cinematography, editing, characters and even the plot is top notch. There's a level of paranoia present in the film that is only matched by The Thing. With each of these two movies Carpenter proves that mystery can prove a valuable ally in creating horror and tension. A lot of old classic horror stories from the greats were also good mysteries after all.
>>224027268I got Pieces in a bargain bin dvd of 10 random horror movies for like $5 in like 2008. It was the best one in the bunch.
Demons rise at a Hallow's Eve party when a comet flies overhead and raises the dead!
>>224025795You're fucking retarded and most likely the "can't read" skin color. All of the horror of book-version Salem's Lot comes from how smart Barlow is and how he slowly corrupts each and every single member of the town to do his will. To pull that off you need a large ensemble cast. The movies turned Barlow into just Retard Goblin, but the book version is pure Machavellian.King did the same thing, even better, in the first 90% of Needful Things, but he fucked it up at the end with a stupid "le symbolism" ending.>I'm pretty sure the real Stephen King died in that van crash. His 20th century work is pretty fuckin good.
>>224025331Same problem that creepypastas had, any potentially cool idea gets overwrought and overexplained to the point of absurdity because zoomers don't know when to hold back.

>>224026870well it was rap
>>224027218I love vampires but I was not convinced by other baldwins romance lolll
>>224026380i think it was a 30 minutes short stretched to be a movie but without any substance added to compensate for the conflated run time, the scene in the real world didn't blend with the rest of the movie, the puppet segment was also a waste of time and it felt like it should have ended at the crystal city

>>224027547>>224027541Did Salems lot change your life or something? Why does someone disagreeing with you produce such delicious seething? Dracula isn't that interesting but it's still far better than Salems Lot.
Dracula is a fantastic novel.
>>224025344*bonk!*
>>224027645Psycho and The Birds were the original slow burns, then Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby. Halloween was also heavily inspired by Psycho and Black Christmas, Donald Pleasence's character is literally named after a character from Psycho. What they all manage to do so well though is the mood and atmosphere. I guess slow burn horror just isn't for everyone.
