Just finished picrel. Would recommend. Not quite as spooky as I thought it would be, but it was so well made that it didn't really matter. 8.5/10

>>224053085it's kino. simply a well-executed movie. tight script and good performances all around. i didn't realize how much stuff Charles Durning has been in. he starred in a broadway production of a play written by Jason Miller (Fr. Damien Karras in The Exorcist), which is a neat fun fact..also Bubba's mom is Jocelyn Brando, Marlon's sister.

I say, I don't really like TCM 2 as a movie. Many scenes take too long, far past the time when you get the point. HOWEVER, it has my favorite jump scare (Leatherface in the radio station) I've seen ever.

>>224053508>is it something worth promoting as a must watch classic?yes. haxan is more entertaining than nosferatu. and more visually and technically impressive.
>>224053586> I wouldn't even consider it black and white with how all the different areas had a unique color to them.Same thing with Nosferatu. If the version you see is in black and white, it's some shitty looking 240p public domain upload that won't captivate a viewer like a nice tinted HD cut that gives a proper impression of the aesthetic. With a silent film especially, the video quality matters a lot. All you have is pictures and music.

>>224053641However horror can contain zero to a lot of gore

Just finished picrel. First legitimately good Spanish horror film I've seen.
>>224053897Not a fan of REC or Dagon?
>>224053851>new loreoh shit
>>224053476>We Have Always Lived in the Castle is Shirley Jackson and also a very easy fast readI read this last week and didn't get much out of it. I get 'why' it/Jackson are revered and the writings fine but there was 0 intrigue for me. yeah yeah southern gothic oo little girl is evil okay wasn't a surprise it just is and what IS it. idk just quaint and dated to the period contrivances I guess.had better luck reading my Robert E. Howard stories.
>>224053920I watched the film of that a while ago. Thought it was a horror but it was more like a gothic drama with cute girls.
>>224053912They were decent, I suppose. Dagon has a cool atmosphere.
>>224053920Probably hinges on how much you like the characters. Also Robert Howard is one of the greats. Guy made Conan the Barbarian. Of course he is better
Ok, perhaps 1 more
>>224054007Crisp. Very kino.I love how good traditional animation looks in HD
How are we doin'?
>>224054025Seeing old content in HD has made me appreciate it so much more. Extremely blessed that a lot of media was preserved on such a great medium. Just old tv shows really that get missed.
>>224054064I could go for some horror desu
>>224054064Still doin
It is done...

>>224053920Are you the pseud who doesn’t like Stephen King?
>>224053305
>>224052103Wasn't there an Anon who claimed to watch over 100 movies this month? I want to see what his list looks like
>>224054064Good. After a month straight of horror I'm finishing the night off with a couple episodes of the original Star Trek.
Just watched Frankenhooker. Definitely one of Henenlotter's weaker movies.Despite only being a little more than 80 minutes, it feels very slow and padded out. The titular character doesn't even appear until 50 minutes in.It's more in line with the quality of the Basket Case sequels than the first movie or Brain Damage, sadly.
>>224053977well, he his as pulp as pulp gets, and I do tend to favor literary horror in text but between him and Shirely Jackson trying to ring in the season it was no contest is all
>>224054178Patty Mullen definitely carries a lot of it by just looking pretty. The exploding hookers are pretty good, though, you gotta admit.
>>224054147I've read plenty of King, I don't harbor any grudge or preciousness about him and certainly acknowledge his faults. Salem's Lot and some short stories as a teen were definitely impactful
>>224054119I shall sleep easy TONIGHT
>>224054158the 100 < 100 anon didn't make it there, but it was a valiant effort
>>224054205I did enjoy the webms and little write-ups at least. It's reassuring that there's a never-ending supply of apparently watchable slop to see.
>>224054155What the fuck kind of AI downscale is that pic
>30 posts leftAny regrets, Anons? Missed kinotunities this season?
>>224054205was shocked he made it past 50 at that pacegod bless him but I still wonder WHY OH GOD WHY!??!
>>224054191He is a classic, cannot criticize him. His works are being put on film to this very day. At this point, he is beyond criticism.
>>224054260I just finished Scooby Doo season 1. I was supposed to marathon all 3 of the first seasons, didn't happen but I'll continue to get through em
>>224054260I got sick around 10 days in and never kept my pace up after that. I don't want to make excuses but it takes me weeks to recover after each time I get sick now.
>>224054260I still have a bunch of blu-rays I bought years back that I need to get around to.Also wanted to explore more Willard-like movies but had to keep moving on and didn't get to. Next year I'll try to make time for Stanley (1972), The Killer Snakes 1974, and Kiss of the Tarantula (1975) if I can remember to, but I'm always so unprepared once October actually hits
>>224054260I regret watching so many streams and sportsball.well not really, I need some tether to the present but I didn't muster the drive to watch more <80s jap horror that I tend to like Curse of Dog God. also probably should've got out into the community more to soak in the seasonal processions. hard to really feel the festivities just behind a screen
>>224054327>also probably should've got out into the community more to soak in the seasonal processions. hard to really feel the festivities just behind a screenThere was some cool shit happening in my area but I didn't have it in me to join in. At this point I'm married to /hor/ and just feel like shitposting here on Halloween

Now that the dust has settled, what do we think of this reboot?
I WAS GOOD TO YOU, MIKEY
>>224051960based>>224054260not really. but 2026 reaffirmed how dire modern horror. I'm not usually "modern bad", i try to give things a chance, but I can't name a single new release that I liked. >>224052103well technically i haven't finished. I was supposed to watch 181, I got to around 130
>>224051975The sequel came out 12 years later and was a complete tonal shift, so yeah
>>224054442>I was supposed to watch 181, I got to around 130What the hell were you watching and how?
>>224054442>181
>>224054442>I was supposed to watch 1816 movies a day is a hell of a standard to hold yourself to
>>224054442>6 movies a dayNot feasible without cheating
>>224051977>>224051999based
>>224054496You mean you don't watch movies at 6x speed?
>>224054504True horror aficionados watch at 0.75x speed
>>224054515That's how you get the true slowburn experience
>>224053761>woman goes to sleep too earlyLooks like there was a lot of them on /hor/ tonight
