>Shortly after the release of Mind Twister, Slater suddenly retired from acting and disappeared from the public eye. Fellow Chopping Mall actress Barbara Crampton explained in 2016 that the two failed to keep in contact in the years following that film's release. The movie's crew had been unable to locate Slater, making her one of the few surviving cast members to not attend the 30th anniversary screening of Chopping Mall.

Had a good Halloween this year. Went out with the gf to a couple of parties and got pretty drunk. It was weird to see what normies watch on Halloween. The first house we went to was playing Freddy vs. Jason in the living room, for some baffling reason they followed that up with the Nightmare on Elm Street remake (fucking why?). The second place we went to had Rob Zombie's Halloween playing in the background followed by Terrifier. We spent most of the time in the backyard grilling and listening to Halloween music so it didn't matter much anyway. When we left the kids had taken over the TV and were playing Mario Party, not even a spooky level or anything.

I think with the NOES remake it was a case if it just being on whatever streaming service they were using and them not knowing any better. Rob Zombie's Halloween was definitely intentional though, the people hosting the party are the type that smoke in the house and were letting their 16 year old daughter take shots with the adults.

Top 5 (no order):

>Ju-On: The Curse (2000)
>Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003)
>Never After Dark (2026)

The only non J-horror movie I really liked this month was Intruder (1989), the others I watched were mostly trash because I was catching up on more modern stuff.

the existence of evil spiritual beings doesnt prove without a shadow of a doubt the existence of a good spiritual being. getting killed by an evil spiritual being doesnt necessarily mean you are not also evil, or that heaven/hell exists at all. you're making a lot of assumptions

I try to do 13 new horror experiences every October (not just movies but books, video games, audiobooks or new haunted houses count too) and overall most of my 13 were good this year. Only stinker was The Keep, which has a good movie under it but was cut to shit.

nah it's just not very good. very stale sets and boring shots. very hollow characters. mediocre performances and weak delivery of lines. it's crazy what passes for "good" movies with modern audiences

wow, that new Resident Evil film was truly awful. Based on the creature designs and the aesthetics and even the musical choices, it's very clearly an homage to The Thing. I couldn't believe how much of it was comedic. I guess Zach doesn't really like Resident Evil or horror films at all.

It looks sanitized already. Only way to recapture or surpass these old crazy franchises is with new crazy franchises. The reboots have too much money behind them and have to play by too many rules to get made. The originals did not give a fuck and were not 'treasured franchises to be respected and made with care for the fans'. That's the problem. The original got an X rating, and that version was in theaters. They don't have the guts to do that with The Exorcist now.

I watched "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (1920). This restoration was much better than the one we watched in school a long time ago, the picture quality was excellent, it had tint and a score that matched the strange expressionist sets. I loved how the tint turned from blue to yellow the instant they switched on the lights in the office of the director of the mental institution. The strangely warped and distorted sets are weird at the beginning, but it's all explained in the end: it was all a delusion in the head of a mental patien. .... or was it?
I found it interesting how this movie commands your attention even though you can't hear the actors speak (as sound film only came seven years later).
