She might not like it, but she understands wanting to have her cake and eat it too. I also think her believing herself better than tres magia, or really most people, works to her advantage in justifying it in her head. I know there's the joke about a mom, a mom, a daughter and a dog, but I think in Kiwi's head at least, she could probably live with that arrangement. With some of the interactions later in the manga, I think that might even be the canon relationship endpoint. It's tricky to write, but I think you did it well.

Maybe I'm the only person on earth who's ever tried to compare this to that Akebi-san manga series, but Akebi-san felt like it was written and drawn by a guy who's never interacted with women. But Mahoako, if you told me it was written by a woman, I totally would believe it. Despite how normal the former tried to be and how absurd and perverted the latter is, somehow Akebi-san felt so alien to read while Mahoako is such an engaging experience with characters that are so colorful and somehow relatable in some ways.

Quiet up to the main building, quiet through the front hall which had all its lights put out, and quiet as they approached the large central hall of the fortress. Korisu was afraid and already hiding behind Leopard. Baiser joined her and let Leopard be the first person through the last set of double doors. She called out.>“Hello! Anyone home?”>Her voice echoed through more darkness. They continued on with Baiser apologizing for the intrusion. Again there was no answer. Leopard was now more annoyed than anything.>“What the fuck it's empty in here!”>Behind them the doors to the space slammed shut on their own. As they turned to look back a voice finally answered from above and they had to turn again.>“Ugh, don't you know how this works? Open your eyes we're up here!”

A trophy collection spread out just for this meeting. Baiser felt sick. Her lungs burned from how little she even breathed as she bent down to pick up a shattered purple heart. She was snapped back to attention by the commanding voice of the woman on the throne.>The woman in charge.>The woman responsible.>Baiser moved forward to the head of their little formation as she clutched the unidentifiable heart. Enorme stared down to meet her burning starry eyes directly.

We've faced only pitiful excuses for opposition even on our latest hunt! There were none that could stand before us! NONE!”>Vena put her sleeve over her mouth and shot back.>“Except Tres Magia. Which is why you were leaving the city to begin with to avoid being squashed.”>Enorme scowled.>“Yesterday even mighty Tres Magia were at last supposed to be found, tracked, and felled. Until your little, useless, traitors SAVED THEM!”>The mascot's voice took on a new low tone as she delivered a warning.>“Careful. Pride cometh before the fall.”

Leopard swung her small pistol around trying to count the number of enemies during the heated exchange. She tapped on baiser's shoulder and whispered to her.>“You know I'm ready and willing to throw down any time, but having fought the one ink-bitch this is a LOT of ass to whoop.” >Baiser remained fully focused on Enorme alone. She gripped the heart in her grasp unable articulate how painful its presence was. Who had it belonged to? Who's dreams and heroism were destroyed by this woman? Enorme was not fit to lead a school of fish let alone be a Lord if she could not understand the role a villain should fill. “Un...forgivable.” Not a soul noticed the tiny spark of light, the smallest ember of purple light, as it bloomed inside her palm. Any attention paid in her direction went to the menacing aura that grew around her as purple stars bloomed on her cheeks.>Enorme tilted her head back unsure of what to make of this development, but spoke down in disgust.>“Girls, crush them.”>The nun jumped down to crater the floor on landing and started a slow march toward them. Leopard grabbed Baiser's sleeve and tried to shake her back to awareness.>“Baiser!”

They just barely got out in a flash of blue energy before the dollhouse itself exploded into splinters. Sister grew to the size of an actual house before them. Baiser hurled Leopard toward Alice and Vena. She turned back to Sister as the giant tried to step on her.>Baiser swung her crop to hit the oncoming foot with a shocking amount of force. Enough to knock Sister off balance. Baiser in a rage against these monsters took to the air to press a counter attack. Her next swing formed a projectile of dark magic which knocked Sister to the ground with a massive crash. She would have barreled forward toward Enorme but the sound of gunfire made her look back. With the dollhouse shattered Alice was reeling from the severed magic. Leopard alone was using her full battery of fire just to keep the ink demons back. Meanwhile Leberblum had vanished to who knows where and Loco was moving to attack. Retribution would have to wait.>Baiser flew down dodging music notes to get back to her friends. Along the way she shouted orders and lowered her arms to scoop up broken hearts to her chest.>“We're leaving! Leopard throw the biggest you have!”>“But Baiser that's-”>“DO IT! Vena portal us out!”>“Can do friendo!”

Until the moment passed. Baiser sat up and looked around at few hearts she had managed to grab up. Then down at her hand where she still had one clutched tight. She moved it up to look through it toward her window. Daylight filtered through the purple gem and splitting into internal rainbows in every fissure. She swore it had been in a worse state when she picked it up.>“Unforgivable. Unforgivable, unforgivable, unforgivable!”>She stopped when on either side her friends held onto her arms. Both looked worried. She quietly reassured them she was fine. She was far from fine internally, but losing herself would not bring any of the lost magical girls back. There was only one chance.>“Please, the hearts.”>They gathered up the tossed gems into a pile unsure of what Baiser was going to do with them. She pulled out a Tres Magia bag large enough to put them in. To Utena it felt like time was of the essence even though she had no idea how long it had been since any of these had been confiscated from their rightful owners.

There was no way this was not borderline traumatic to the girl.>“I... I hope they get back home too.”>Baiser was winded but driven by purpose as she stepped out onto the rear grounds of the shrine. As told Azul flew out from the woods and landed next to her.>“What is this abou-”>To her shock and horror Baiser grimly held the bag full of hearts open. She covered her mouth.>“I-Is there any chance at all any of these can be returned?”>“There's only one individual who could say. Come on.”>Azul left the ground and flew back up just over the trees. Baiser followed her to a barrier protected clearing in the woodland. On landing Sulfur was set to beat the living daylights out of her but Azul held her back.>“AZUL THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?”>All arguments ceased as Baiser knelt down and poured out a pile of heart gems.

Azul tried to approach Baiser, she moved faster away wide eyed and trying to breath through bruised lungs.
