The thing that kills Gundam pilots isn't the permet exposure but the stress of directly connecting with a hulking metal giant. Permet exposure is a more insidious killer.
I personally think permet contamination only happens when someone tries to pilot a giant machine, which is a lot for the human body to handle.But as prosthetics, I don't think it's as big of a deal.Even in the post-epilogue, where they are starting Gund-Arm prosthetics tests and Petra is set to be one of the first participants, it shows that they're making progress.

Guin was an especially interesting parallel as kind of a proto-Shaddiq. Both are dark-skinned, blonde-haired schemers with unrequited loves; Guin is gay and interested in the straight male lead, while Shaddiq pursues a lesbian.Also the the goofy/dramatic elevating platforms, which were even less explained in Turn A.
