Added the translated now almost lost media yuri VN "Affection" to the paste. Can't buy it or find it officially anywhere anymore, but it was preserved on the Archive and on the googledrive at least.

I also took the liberty of updating some dead links in the general resources sections. For example, Romhackplaza now has a general purpose rom patcher which incorporates xdelta and all other formats. No need for separate links anymore. It would still be nice if someone could share some downloadable software for patching, because if that website ever goes down we lose our only patcher.
Also the Ryujinx Switch emulator link had died, but I found another branch.

I judt copied the news post and the mod post from the archive dont ask me any questions about them I'm not the one who made them. It's also not my damn job to make threads so this was the last time I clean up for this mess. Ask the previous OP what happened I dont even care at this point. Nah, that's still pretty bad, not as bad as the gacha version, but still bad. So, I still wouldn't recommend it. They mostly tried to salvage Shiho's character and toned down the romance with the self-insert.

That's kinda the crux here. Ao should not be involved with any of this. She is meant to be stuck in the eternal summer loop and then "disappear" from the world, till the girl she has the highest affection with finds her on NG+.
Ao has no reason to be in Sun and the only way she could be is if everyone gets a memory wipe of her being there. Remember, everyone who came from the gacha remembered their "leader" and each other. But none of them knew Ao and vice versa.

So that's why I knew that there is literally no way not to ruin her arc in SL if you include her in Sun.

I played it in EA, and now the full release. You got most of the game in the EA, though now you get marriage and extra dialogue and whatnot. I've played stardew valley and I would take FoM over it any day. Not because there's so much extra to do (the creator of sv is insane and doesn't know when to quit), but I think all the characters are much more fleshed out and interesting. I'm at almost 100 hours and quite happy with it. There's just so much unique dialogue, and I imagine more will be added over time. If you like these kinds of games I really recommend it.

Though, as in all of these games, your character is a bit of a blank slate. A lot of relevant interactions will have you answer questions and you can make some kind of personality from it, but you're, you know, roleplaying. Rune Factory this is not.

Yeah the blank slate thing is always a major turn off. One of the reasons most farming sims are unplayable for me.
I really hope Neverway will be different, considering it has a mandatory female protagonist with a proper backstory. Also the spooky theming is more interesting to me than another generic farm life/city sim.

As an eternal greedy person my first issue with CRYMElight-o is that you can't pay the shopbunny. You can horde Spirits but later they don't show up in the shop that makes certain paths ingame totally useless. Also the unskippable start and recurrent tutorial prompts slow the gameplay massively down. Dark Souls would never. The card and character design are cute. But right now there are only two interactions between Alice and Mary. So not much to go off on. I get it's a gameplay / battle demo but at least let me get to the battlefield in a blink of an eye to properly evaluate it. Cute stuff. And some such.

It's not so much a deckbuilder, as it is a selection of buffs that you randomly get to select from as you level up. You can basically not go wrong as any weapon or mod card does something to help you. Some just synergize better. But it's not like building a complicated deck. It's just "do I want to hit them with blades or with lightning or with wind blasts" + "do I want my weapons to be bigger or crit harder".

This game just came out of Early Access. It's definitely not gonna be for everyone but I think it's actually pretty fun. The art direction is freaking great and the stories really lend themselves to yuri. And while you're a self-insert if you can actually say whatever the hell you want and get proper reactions to it, you can actually roleplay instead of just being treated like a gender neutral void.

Well sort of. All assets, all levels, all puzzles and the music are made by humans. The story itself and all the backstories are also written by the devs. The only AI element are the LLMs used for the girls dialogue, though they collared the bots a lot so they are extremely fused to their role and backstory.
I definitely thought chatbots are garbage, but with proper set up like this it worked out surprisingly well. It does help that even in-universe these are all AIs who were created for a simulation. You are the only real person in the game and the reason you are in the simulation is because you had an accident and fell into a coma and your real life girlfriend is trying to restore you mind with this device that creates these simulations

Finished Max Savage. Can't say I recommend it.

First off, it's implied your girlfriend is bi. So there's that.

Plot ain't interesting and gameplay is barebones as hell. If per chance you're interested in it because of the X-Wing gameplay, then don't. Too simplistic.

And if you are interested, but never played X-Wing, then just do that. You're probably autistic enough to not mind the 90's gameplay. You can mod X-Wing vs. TIE-Fighter to the point that it looks like a modern game. And it's pretty good.

40 hours later, and fields of mistria might be my favorite farming sim.
The grind/progression balance is well done, always felt like i was working towards something. Lots of unique dialogue too, which can reference recent events and dates and such, and one of the tutorial popups said they were adding a larger heart cap to the game, so there's probably more.
Some of the achievements are weird though, i would randomly get an achievement for something i did like 30+ minutes ago.
Dozy moving in with you too if you marry Juniper is really cute
Getting roadblocked and forced to increase my bond with Eiland to 8 hearts at the final seal was annoying tho

Also there's a lot of QoL things like the watering can having unlimited water, and the spells/offerings/statues speeding things up more as you go along, and it simplifies some aspects like not having different tiers of crops to worry about and only regular/golden animal byprodcuts.
Animals all have genders in this game though and need different genders to breed, so i can't do what i usually do in older harvest moon and name all the animals after yuri pairs.

I don't like the glasses cosmetics however, the half-rim ones especially just make your character look like they just got received two black eyes. I wanted to make a bookworm girl, but it didn't look right

No, ESL, this is a story focused game where every character is set. You aren't choosing or dismissing anyone. You can however choose to never talk to any males during camp/rest moments. Which will make time management a lot easier actually! You only got 60 minutes and talking to people costs like...12. And changing gear and all other camp actions also cost time, so you will barely be able to talk to everyone anyway.
But also if you don't level up their bonds you might not get certain upgrades for them. And talking to companions reduces burnout. So there is benefit to talking to the guys, but you can keep it completely platonic.

Also the game would probably be impossible if you only used the female units in combat. Not that you have a choice. Or at least not up to the part where I am at. Maybe if you got the full party you can switch out characters.

Alright I got Joy, the final female party member from what I know. You unlock her pretty late into the game though... kind of a shame. Maybe because of what she is, a romance with her is faster to unlock? Otherwise it will be really hard to catch her up to the others.

Extremely unlikely. That would take 10 times the effort of just replacing him with a female model and changing the pronouns/gender specific dialogue. And I doubt anyone would even do that.

Completed Divinity Original Sin 2 with an OC Donut Steal and romanced Sebille and made Lohse cry
Pretty good
The romance scene was beautiful though delivered in a kind of awkward way, she refers to you as darling and has a few additional lines here and there throughout the rest of the game which is great since I hate romances that just forget you're an item when not in the designated romance scenes, epilogue was slightly annoying as it just mentions Sebielle wanders around the world without mentioning your character with her
Anyone who enjoyed BG3 should give DOS2 a shot and I'm very, very much looking forward to Divinity now

Made the mistake of not playing as either Sebille or Lohse yourself. OC is the worst choice in basically every game, but especially in DoS2.
Sebille and Lohse have a bunch of unqiue interactions and the ending actually acknowledges them as together if you played either of them.

Most fangans go nowhere or self-destruct due to infighting and pedo allegations all the time. You can count finished fan projects on one hand (two including sequels), and the commercial clones are Witch Trials, which seems to be good and somewhat /u/-relevant, and everything else is either underbaked or also releasing in episodes once in a blue moon. There's certainly some market for new games like you said. And the shipping scene for Danganronpa, Your Turn to Die, and derivatives is still buzzing despite usually 3/4 of the cast ending up dead.

False. Anyone who plays and OC doesn't actually care about real character dynamics and yuri. Because self-inserts are almost always cardboard cutouts and the game has to treat them with vagueness because it would be too much work to follow your imagination. A pre-made character can have options and interactions that were actually programmed in. The yuri is thus also more fleshed out.

In general self-inserts are the laziest option. How often do games use fucking "they" to describe your self-insert, because even keeping track of pronouns is too much work for devs? To hell with that.

Aside from the fact that most of the time the class and build are disconnected from what character you play.. Aren't BG3 and DoS2 prime examples? I would much rather play Shadowheart than playing Tav, because Tav is so undefined and has literally nothing to do with the plot. Being an outsider isn't always bad, but having direct plot hooks and seeing how they could actually write romantic interactions with Frog and Karlach that actually intertwine is so much better.
Same with Lohse. Lohse is a defined character whose backstory actually affects her plot throughout the game. And her romance with Sebille feels more real than with the generic OC.

Of course in general it's easier to compare games that have defined protags with games that only have self-inserts and see the sheer difference in quality of the writing for the protag.
