If you played the games you should recognize the inherent low quality / blurry assets. Not to mention the game (like the overwhelming majority of VNs) doesn't bake characters in the background for anything but major plot points. That would interfere with the modularity of the art and cause problems if the script needs to be changed for any reason.

Durability is going to be a staple in the franchise moving forward, and from a design perspective applying it to shields is the best idea Nintendo has brought to the series. Being able to mindlessly block every attack like in the previous 3D games before Skyward Sword was unbelievably stupid.

Are there any modern racing games with the racing layout of Midtown Madness/Midnight Club? I have been spoiled by this and can not go back to any other racing game. Forward Horizon and NFS their formulas are boring and linear. Tokyo Xtreme Racing is glorified drag racing with no turns so I got bored of that quick as soulful as it is.

Bloodborne and Sekiro are the best fromsoft games. The fact that they filtered shield shitters (the vocal people who think complaining about the lack of a "build variety" makes them smarter or understand good game design) is just a bonus. The reason why they both had negative reviews and casuals complaining about the difficulty being too hard was due to this vocal part of the community (the majority of souls players) crying to get their crutches back. Shields are great, sekiro is fine because you literally don't need one, but in ER sure you can beat the game without one I normally two hand anyway, but having a shield is a nice way to actually be able to stand your ground in the game which in Sekiro you can do by deflection in ER you can only do that by rolling, so if you get into a fight in a narrow area where you can fall off the edge, then a shield is great. Mind you AoW totally negate the need for a shield in most cases, giant hunt basically deals with 95% of enemies except some of the amped up BS ones from the DLC e.g. horned warriors.
