I love this thing so much it's unreal.

i'm an adult so i built a harness to carry my PC with a widescreen monitor mounted in front of me and a generator on a wagon behind me.

That's not funny you shouldn't joke about such things. Being satiric can send you to hell.

Yeh, it's pretty cool. Wish I had the money to buy one.

I am thinking about ditching my (linux)pc entirely and going full steam deck. If I want to play with kb+m I can just stream to my mac mini.

Weird to realize it's cheaper than the Switch right now despite being so much more capable. Valve is being real aggressive with the pricing.

The older model is kind of shitty, you shouldn't buy it.

I have both, the older model is still easily the second best handheld out there.

People probably going hard on the store once they have their deck, so Valve can afford to lose a bit of money up front
I know I did

>64GB is 4$ cheaper than the LCD Switch
>512 LCD is only 40$ more than the switch Oled
>both are cheaper than the 256
That is pretty aggressive! I guess Valve wants to get rid of their current stock of LCDs or something. Also again Valve makes money if you buy from Steam and the Deck is sorta like a machine that funnels you to play more games on Steam. Not a surprise that they'd do that. I still think this thing needs to be in stores for people to try out themselves.

Bullshit
With 64GB you're still looking at over $400 if you want storage on it because 1TB SD Cards are expensive
>>
>>681085728
512gb sd cards are cheap, and so are 512gb SSDs
>>
Sucks that the oled isn't getting a discount. That was my one hope for this sale.
>>
>>681085868
>512gb
That's going to get filled up in no time
>>
>>681079824
i really really like it. it's impressive how well resolved the hardware is and most importantly the software. i wouldn't even consider the windows handhelds, the trackpads and everything you can do with steaminput make the deck just work.
i played an old kb+m only game on it the other day, and I just made a good trackpad+buton setup in 5 seconds and it played perfectly fine.
>>
>>681085930
no it won't lmao
if you're buying a deck for the latest AAA games you're a fucking retard
also you don't need to have your entire library installed at one time, just a few games you're going to play. 512Gb is way more than enough.
>>
>>681086076
Yes it will if you actually emulate anything past the 16bit era
>>
Someone shill me into CONSOOMING the 512 GB LCD, or de-shill me if you have purchased the LCD one and have real CONSOOMER'S remorse.

I can afford an OLED, but I would only use a deck indoors and I don't care that much about battery life.
>>
>>681087642
I got a refurbed 512 LCD and it's brilliant. Battery life is fine, I've not found it too short.
>>
>>681087642
OLED has nothing to do with playing indoors. It has better contrast, better response times and better color reproduction.
>>
>>681087828
I don't think I could stomach having just one year of warranty.
>>
>>681088018
New Decks have a 1 year warranty as well don't they? It's the same either way.

Bought the 64gb one selling it today.
Selling my rog ally right before the x launches so I can recoup some of my money.

Then I will wait for the xbone handheld.

A fukking hope they launch next gen by 2026. I can wait 2 years but nothing longer then that atm.

I hope so too, but I just don't think valve is currently capable of making that many and managing the logistics of it all and it's hard to tell if they'd even want to. I think they'd at least need to get it into far more countries first.

>>512gb

I have nearly 100 games installed, some of them around 50gb+ and over a thousand roms from atari through n64. When games are all you're getting 512gb does not fill up in no time.
>>
>>681087642
If money is a concern and you don't care much about the battery life then I'd say there's nothing wrong with going for the lcd over the oled, it's still the best handheld on the market. Only real reason not to get a deck in some form is if you really want a game that has eac in it like fortnite.

You either buy the absolute cheapest model, or you get the OLED version. Buying a 512GB LCD model is a waste, you might as well get the 64GB version and swap the SSD yourself (saving money in the process) or spend a bit more and get the better device.
The OLED version has a better (and bigger) screen, but it's also slightly ligher, slightly faster, runs quieter and cooler.

I own the LCD model and I kinda regret it: I bought the cheapest model because I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. Well, I play on Steam Deck most of the time these days.

That said, if you truly don't give a shit about battery life, consider the ROG Ally as well. The Steam Deck is more efficient at low TDPs (10W and lower), but you can push the Ally all the way to 25W and BTFO the Deck performance wise.

>That said, if you truly don't give a shit about battery life, consider the ROG Ally as well
ROG Ally doesn't have trackpads, so it depends on the games you're playing. It's more powerful for AAA console slop, but Legion Go is very close in performance and as far as I know offers much better control options.
Deck is the king when it comes to emulating controls for PC games.
