what if they went the opposite direction and stopped going open world but more so linear dungeon-like levels in an inter-connected world
>something akin to ds1/ds2 world with various routes
bring back a harder and more punishing weapon depreciation system, players actually need to change up weapons although rarely (especially early on) until they find the smith (similiar to ds2)
>dungeon loot after bosses and just exploring within them with actual useful weapons that you want to try out
player won't actually dislike the fact that weapons can lose their sharpness/break but actually look forwards to new weapons that they will actually potentially need to swap to
>notable dungeons that aren't too far off from the meant path have actual power ups for attack power/hp akin to sekiro
>talismans slots are how you actually change up your character, talismans can give proficiency with weapon types instead of being lackluster %dmg increases

No this mechanic in any game is cancer. Its not good and at least From software doesn't make it bad. Unlike BOTW that's unplayable with it.
