no more lock on targeting
scan visor scans the entire room and adds logs to log book
melee attack
absorbing weapons and their ammo off enemies like Kirby
grapple beam is a beam weapon
power beam gets stacked upgrades
super missile is a beam weapon you charge and shoot
(so the four beams are power, grapple, super, and a currently picked up weapon)
no more missile pick ups they regenerate back over time
health regenerates back slowly
1st and 3rd person perspectives to switch between
speed booster is a sprint ability you obtain
it automatically steps up short jumps
space jump gets upgraded multiple times
a triple, and quadruple jump
boost ball is like Sonic's spindash and bounces right up 90' angled high ledges
no save rooms you can call your ship in any open area to save there
Hunters remastered packed-in as a multiplayer mode

We already know lock on is in. I understand it's always been a part of the series, but I have no idea how that can possibly make combat more interesting than just standard twin stick aiming. I know it's not exactly a combat focused series, but more engaging combat wouldn't hurt.

exactly, I'm sure lock-on is a hold over from when the Gamecube controllers had an unappealing C-Stick. they could revise this game now, it's been decades.

they don't, metroid isn't about combat, this is where the 2d games went wrong after super
