The feelings of weight and inertia are what is missing in new titles. There is too much movement with too sharp accelerations from enemies often too large. I guess its supposed to be a power up but it feels more like things having zero mass rather than deploying gorillonz of momentum and kinetic energy.

there's a sense of mystique and magnificence that none of the other souls game ever came close to capturing
elden ring was just fucking boring without any big reveals, nothing new and unexpected
meanwhile dark souls 1 makes you shit your pants in wonder when you encounter gravelord phantoms for the first time and how fucking hardcore they were despite the "simplicity"
nothing in elden ring even comes close to the horror of a red phantom mushroom parent
