The game was initially supposed to be less ambitious but Nankidai made the chapters longer after it became well-known. He has to write the final game, resolve all the story's mysteries in a satisfying way, account for different routes with different characters being alive, and all of that while being a family man and (I think) writing/drawing a manga? And presumably being addicted to V-tubers. Not surprising it would take this long with so much on his plate, but the way he kept releasing side-content for a while made me think he doesn't know what he's doing and just keeps procrastinating.
