yeah, it's fun. i played it on the vita originally. i will add that i actually haven't played hackers memory yet, but for the current price it'd be worth it even if it was just the first game, that gave me plenty of playtime.

Its enjoyable but the translation is jank as fuck at times. I only played the first one so maybe the 2nd game has a better translation.
>>
New sales aren't bad because new sales are bad, they're bad because it used to be that good games near constantly came out, meaning competing for players' attention was a serious concern. New good games push older good games back in relevance, resulting in deeper sales on better titles.
Nowadays you get like 2 good releases a year so why the fuck would publishers accept heavy discounts? Aw, pissed that Sekiro and DS3 are still being sold for expensive prices? Guess you'll just have to go play the other quality games that are out now (LOL)

Opinions for/against please. I value comfy base building above all else. Already exhausted Valheim, The Forest and Fallout 76. Open to suggestions for other base builders.
>>
>>681534342
Nioh 2 is basically Nioh 1 but better in terms of mechanics. A little bit dumber in terms of story. But it's also got better variety than 1. I'd say go for it, it's a great game.
>>
>>681534342
Nioh has this ultra autistic mechanic where you have to tap L1 after every combo to regain stamina. every. single. combo. you have to tap L1 after. it's one of the dumbest game mechanics i've ever seen.

>>
>>681535050
Don't care, pirate whatever you want. Any money you spend will 100% end up in the hands of someone you disagree with morally, ethically, or for any reason. Doesn't matter who you are or what you believe, your money always goes to people you will like. So don't even try to justify it you retard, just pirate it if you want to.
>>
>>681535164

I wouldn't say it's stupidly difficult, but if you're new to bullet-hell games you would struggle a bit. I think I struggled with about the same number of bosses in both, but I've played a lot of bullet hell.
For other recommendations, Bloodstained is fantastic if you haven't played it already, and I liked the small bit I played of Vernal Edge.

>>
>>681542127
i like it but it's definitely jank
scratches a good itch for exploran and the world/lore is fairly interesting, though delivered through really bland npcs
combat takes a lot of getting used to and can feel kinda shit
having to sling your backpack on the ground and before a fight and then going back to pick it up again adds a strangely nice extra bit of "realism" to it
magic system's weird and cool
apparently it's better coop but i had fun by me lonesome

>>681542034
It's really fun if you want something that eats up a lot of you time. I'm only 50 hours in and I feel like I'm not even 1/4 through the game. It's much more in depth with its combat compared to other farming sims. You're definitely given more freedom too. Like you're allowed to fight some bosses early on without leveling and they'll most likely beat your ass until you either out level them or learn their patterns. The cosmetics are also amazing, but you're gonna have to grind for them.

The only downsides are that you move slow as shit until you level your movement speed. The romance options are great, but it feels like you go from being complete strangers to in love after 3 interactions even after the update, but they kind of fix them after marriage. There is a lot of grinding, but the game also gives you some cheats in the name of leveling potions so even if you're just stuck farming, mining, fighting; you'll find or afford potions that increase the other stats.

Ignore the negative reviews on the store page it's just a bunch of retards mad that the dev team are making cosmetic dlcs while they work on updates.

In that case go Warhammer. I liked BG3 but RT is cheaper and a breath of fresh air. When I played around release though the final act was a buggy piece of shit and I hated it though but everything else is good.
>>
Help me remember this game. The dev is japanese, the main character is a monochromatic girl who's endlessly grinding through a vertical dungeon and you go back to your base to upgrade items. It's 3d, has a tilted camera perspective. I think it was also released on switch? I've spent like an hour trying to find it but I can't.

disco's good for the story and at that price it's well worth it.

Personally Valheim is kind of boring. I've played a bunch of survival craft style games and honestly this game needs a few more updates before I would recommend it at any price.

lots of shit to pick up off the ground and craft stuff with
basebuilding for some reason but it's quite cosy
at $4 it's fun enough and certainly different if you're craving a crpg that isn't d&d or fallout

Why do people lie like this? Stop pushing agendas that are not video games. There is not a single encounter in bg3 that reuses a gimmick, they are all wildly different. You can search the millions of playthroughs on youtube of this very popular game and not a single one will be the same. You're just absolutely wrong. Sit down, faggot.
>>
>>681544717
Gathering Storm's in-game ruleset toggle also includes everything from Rise and Fall, so you could get the full experience by just buying Base game + Gathering Storm. Rise and Fall is just an overpriced faction pack if you own GS.
If still no, then don't bother. Civ 6 was reviled before DLCs and is honestly still considered inferior to 5 even after both DLCs released. I would unironically recommend Humankind over no-DLC Civ6.
Also, if you like 4Xs, play Endless Legend and maybe Endless Space 2 as well.

It's OK for a remake as far as I can tell. The game mechanic for dungeons is very grindy, like 99 floors in Dead Souls. Missions, substories, etc - all is there. However, I dropped it because I couldn't own all the dungeons after 40+ hours of total gameplay. It stopped being interesting.

>Is this a good metroidvania?
No. It ties how you generate the mana to classes, but locks you into a class before you even play the game. It also ties skill tree to class, but you can't see tree until a bit into the game, so you have no way to know if your class is worth playing until you've put a decent time into it.
Your basic moves do next to no damage, but parrying does a million, which makes the combat kind of boring as you're mostly just scratching things
The story is also tonally fucked too, with a weird mix of a breal setting, sarcastic characters and 4th wall breaking, none of which is appealing

I've playing Hero's Adventure. It's basically a Chinese TRPG open-roam game. You basically can follow the main story they set, fuck off to do other main stories where you defeat the faction you can be recruited to in the beginning, or do faction and companion stories. There is a chance you can lock yourself out of content by being weak, making certain choices, or passing deadlines.

Each time you unlock endings and achievements, you also get bonuses when starting a new game to put you ahead and help you go for the endings you never got.

It's overall an alright game (7/10) if you like wuxia shit. You can also marry and build a harem if you play it smart, but some dedicated dudes made a full guide for getting all the girls. There is also like 2 cunny wife options, a princess and tribal priestess. You can also NTR a companion of his childhood friend/cousin and marry her instead.

I actually play rpgs, so rules heavy games like owlcat aren't particularly challenging. This is the easiest one they made and it's basically a really bad VN on anything lower than unfair, and midway through the game it stops attempting to throw up obstacles anyways.

And don't worry this game is plenty faggy. In fact, I genuinely feel it poisoned the warhammer fanbase and they will never recover.

Nightingale was a huge fucking let down. I haven't touched it since launch but it's nowhere near as cool as the trailer makes it seem and you're constantly traveling between new worlds, so you don't really want to put roots down anywhere. Enshrouded, however, is fucking excellent. Base building is great. Get it.

Have you played Lost Technology? It's basically a strategy game, different factions have their own storylines.

Lizard faction leader is based as fuck. He genocides the Elves and put them in a forest after murdering their matriarch, burns books on technology/social studies that people discovered, fights honorable people to the death, helps cat/dog girls build an ethnostate after fighting their strongest men for fun, ends slavery across the continent because all life needs to be free, keeps all the races separated into their own nations and prevents traveling outside your sphere of influence, helps the dwarves and gets a new weapon from them, his rival is the literal fantasy version of Muhammad who he calls a retard faker before murdering him and destroying his religion before it can take over the world.

Then he gets a moth waifu and dies a peaceful death from cancer under her care. His best friend reveals their younger friend why he did everything he did and they promise to continue his legacy after he brings peace to the world.

It's the only multiplayer blobber on Steam. Basically it's like a hybrid of Wizardry, EverQuest, and Diablo 2 gameplay. It has real-time combat. The leader steers the group through the dungeon and everyone participates in combat via skill buttons. You have passive skills and talent trees so the theorycrafting is pretty deep. The itemization is pretty good too. Crafting isn't in the game yet, but it will be "some day". Imho it's a great game for small groups of friends because it's very focused on treasure hunting and combat instead of stuff like running around a giant game world where logistics become a barrier to grouping.

I mean... full disclosure... I am the developer. It probably isn't for everyone, but if people like online co-op old-school RPGs without micropayments then they'll probably love it. It's not unusual for players to sink hundreds of hours into it. You can see in the reviews.

It has a lot of clear inspiration from EverQuest and intentionally shares many of its sound effects (which are public domain). It has passive skill level-up messages like EverQuest. The combat logs and chat interface are similar to EverQuest. It even has old-school commands like /who /played /party and /guild. The race and class selection is very similar to EverQuest. It even has some items and mobs that are reminiscent to stuff in EverQuest.

That said... don't play it expecting EverQuest. It's a multiplayer dungeon crawler and not exactly an MMORPG in the traditional sense.

They all blacklisted the game after this article. But the Japanese media didn't get the memo.

Hey just wondering, how does this stuff actually hurt sales? When you get leftist smear campaigns, does it hurt sales, or is there a wave of support after?
>>
>>681565882

What is even the basic game loop of those games? the Doraemon one looks like a farming sim but the other two are just children killing time during summer break, how is that

Relink's pretty fun, just be warned that the multiplayer isn't nearly as active as it was a few months back and it's gotten hard to find rooms.

Big time. I probably lost millions of dollars because of it. When the entire American gaming press refuses to cover your game, it will hurt you. It also has a trickle-down effect that results in Twitch/YouTube influencers having no idea that your game exists. Even if they do know you exist, they will be nervous about openly supporting a game made by an unhinged schizo with wrong opinions. Oh well! I guess I'm stuck marketing via Japan.
>>
>>681566826
Can you make millions with Wizardry type games? I figure even if every single fan was willing to pay $100 for a game that would still be peanuts at the end of the day

Yes. You can make millions with basically any type of game on Steam. Just because of the sheer quantity of users.

Is Sonic Origins any good yet or should I still just stick with the mobile ports + AIR still?

i got one of the keys and i'm playing it now and so far it's more like a Cookie Clicker type game with a Wizardry skin rather than a hardcore super difficult RPG. i could definitely see this being the kind of game that ticks a lot of the boxes that can get people hooked very easily. a less honest dev could probably have done a similar concept and really really fleeced some whales.

I really like 2 but just be warned it's janky as fuck at times with weird platforming segments. 1 is more standard RPGMaker fare.
God tier OST though.

Everything in the entire thread looks like shit, and not even wort $0.99. You guys know you don't HAVE to consume sales like women at a garage sale, right? You can simply say "wow this game looks like shit, no wonder it's on sale."

You are a retard. It would not have made millions, it's in a niche genre with a bunch of games that already have playerbases, a genre that is generally a fairly large time sink which means the type of people who want this type of game aren't going to divide their attention. You also haven't lost millions, you never had it and you weren't entitled to it.

I assure you that I did, you reprehensible chicken nugget scoon. It has already made hundreds of thousands and it's not even full release yet. When it did get a morsel of media coverage from Japan, it made $20,000 in one day.
>>
This might be too niche of a question but if I were to buy vanilla HoI4 would that be enough for Old World Blues or is that one of those mods that's mechanically barren unless you pony up for everything?

I'd trade HROT for Arthurian Legends. Zortch and Cultic are just fine. I've got Disillusion sitting in my cart as well. I'd wait for a steeper discount on Animal Well unless it's your top pick out of that cart.
>>
new bred when
>>
>>681568690
Animal Well was a good base game then it devolved into autistic post post post game secret hunting which I personally hate in indie games. SKALD was okay. It's mostly a narrative game and the combat feels very tacked on and simple. Despite liking boomer shooters and the aesthetic of it, I didn't like HROT. It has enemies that spawn in via teleportation mid level which I think ruins level design and encounter design in a shooter.
