It should be obvious that Malenia was jealous and tried to kill Radahn without Miquella's orders. Which is more obvious, to try to convince him again or use his ability, or to kill him and use an overcomplicated plan?
Malenia did the one thing that Miquella forbade her to do, just to win the duel, due to her insane obsession with being undefeated, and steal from Miquella his chance at divinity, due to him rejecting her. That's why Miquella abandoned her.
TL;DR: Malenia is rotten, jealous cunt who ruined her land out of spite and pride.
