Runescape's a bit more of a comedy than FFXIV is but I do generally dislike the way the FFXIV protag is more overpowered than anyone and anything. Occasionally FFXIV does cool things with how broken the protag is - I like how ShB gradually builds up to you trying to contain corruption that'd make you the biggest threat to the world, and how EW has the bad guy commit suicide by cop on you to start the apocalypse - but I'm not sure if the good parts are worth the bad parts.
