has this ever been debunked? not only on vidya
metacritic's user data supports users belief that old good, new bad.
this past month compare how much old vidya you played to how much new vidya you played.
Pretty much, every time you bring that up you have some shitter boasting about their god awful indie games meanwhile I'm still playing UT2004 because nothing surpassed it.
>>683740672>UT2004my knees are kneeling on their own
>>683740275Industry's a lot worse but there's good games still coming out (mostly not from the major players unlike 6th gen and earlier) if you're willing to look, and acknowledging that is the difference between a realist and someone who just can't find joy outside of nostalgia.
>>683742890>but there's good games still coming outname your 3 best that are not rouge-like-Deck-building-survival games
>>683743773This year? Kunitsu-Gami, Under Night In-Birth II, Unicorn Overlord. Devil Blade Reboot was really great as well. Looking forward to Metal Slug Tactics after that demo. Also Balatro but that breaks your rule.
>>683744129>Unicorn OverlordbasedThe rest doesn't look impressive
>>683744129pretty fucking cool anon(other than that fighting game), thanks!
>>683745263Kunitsu-Gami is really excellent so far, very much paced like a game from before budgets got out of control across the industry.
>>683740275Video games have entered a money-milking scam era right now, so even if they were good the old stuff is better solely for the fact you only had to buy them then you could game with out issue.
>>683740275There's a strain of discourse online these days where people smugly dismiss a simple materialist view of the video game industry's current descent as "nostalgia."Meanwhile it's more quantifiably, objectively true than the global rise in temperatures. More jobs were lost in Jan-May this year than all last year, which was already a record-holder.It's so weird to be smug about the status quo as it's catastrophically failing right in front of you.
>>683740672Indie games are as devoid of creativity as AAAA but people give them a free pass out of spite towards big developers. Which is pretty depressing given how indie developers have absolute freedom and the tools to make anything without having to answer to suits and stockholders; instead gonna keep making 2d pixel metroidvanias, roguelikes or top-down RPG maker walking simulators (all of them with deckbuild mechanics).
