At the most some enemies will have spikes or will be flying but the strongest attacks usually ignore those kinds of restrictions anyways and almost no bosses even have them, there also should've been more with extra effects like attacking more than one enemy at a time or like the one Luigi move that could inflict attack/defense down.

I dread getting new exploration abilities because once I can high jump or burn things or whatever, I know the rest of the game will be full of obstacles I need to high jump over or burn and each time it's totally obvious what I need to do but I still need to stop exploring for two seconds to use the ability they want me to use.

Of course making a deep battle system is better than using the same move 100x in a row with some QTEs thrown in, however Mario & Luigi still holds up among RPGs because the standard is using the same move 100x in a row with no technical skill element.
