Unironically true, Fable failed to deliver on 1000 things but its atmosphere and music were top notch.

I've (mostly) built an entire new TTRPG system based on Fable. I just started running the campaign on tuesday, it went pretty well. The first session had the players playing as 10 year old guild foundlings, session 2 they will be proper guild apprentices and do a quest with a hero chaperone, then session 3 they will be graduated heroes and I'll set them loose on the world.

I've got a bunch of art for it commissioned already.

>Hey, Danny, can you do the theme song to this game we're making?
>I'm a little busy with the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack right now!
>That's alright, just copy some of the shit you're doing for that! Fantasy's kind of like superhero crap, right?

Are songs actually shared across games? Or does Danny Elfman just have a very distinct sound to his music?

True. Shame what happened to this series, it seems like it could have gone forever but they juts had to fuck it up.

Danny elfman composed it

More of the latter. Elfman has been mocked throughout the years as "Discount John Williams," and while he's done some legendary work on iconic movies, if you listen to some of his songs back-to-back you'll quickly pick up on the musical themes he loves to (re)use. It all still sounds great, but it's just samey enough that you can usually tell when it's him.

Coincidentally, you can start at 1:40 for both of these and hear the similarities pretty quickly.

I never really played that (or any spiderman) game. Perhaps I was just lucky and didn't hear enough of his work to see that.

Taken by itself, I'd still say Fable has an incredible OST.

2 was basically what we were promised with 2, but that just means it wasn't what a sequel shouldn't be. We simply got what we were promised initially.

As someone who was more hyped for Fable 2 than any game I've ever been excited for- I hugely disagree.

I followed every developer diary and video they put out, Peter did NOT deliver on everything promised by any means.

It had the multiplayer, it had larger spaces and vaulting over fences that were waist high, it had a more in depth magic system, it had more in depth economic systems, it had families with kids, tracked stacks like STDs with condoms, I'm hard pressed to name anything they didn't deliver on finally. Except the laughable idea of growing trees.
