Why is MvC1 not as popular as MvC2 or 3/U3?

MvC1 has arguably the best presentation of the characters and colors but CPS2 was limited in memory so not many characters could conceivably work. This ultimately led to Capcom switching to Naomi for MvC2, but they sort of lost their direction when making stuff for 2, prioritizing throwing in as many characters as they could. But the stages don't have much to do with Marvel or Capcom and neither did the music.

I loved the sound aesthetic of MvC1 (such as the "Lets go crazy!" as an example) and while I love the stage theme music in MvC2 I really did miss the character theme songs of MvC1.A lot of the MvC3 music I did not like as much as MvC1 or even Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.
