>>683782680Memes aside, the problem with modern gaming is that it's a well-established niche that reached its plateau more than a decade ago and is now stagnating hard.Every genre is dominated by its well-established juggernaut, so for a new game to break through, it has to be outstandingly unique and gimmicky to avoid being seen a yet another low-quality bootleg. Consider Concord for example - even if it had no DEI at all and was full of sexy waifus, I would still have little interest in it because it's just another not-Overwatch and if I want to I can just go and play the real thing.Established titles at the same time face a similar problem from their past selves. I have absolutely no reason to buy Game™: The Re-Sequel: Remastered Edition® which is a $130-at-launch microtransaction infested barebones hell as a service that one won't even be able to play in a year or so when I can have a vastly superior experience just launching the original game from ten+ years earlier.

I'm suprised l4d2 still has that many players. It gets kinda boring doing co-op over and over again, but hearing coach say "do I look like a 10 foot tall bitch" is funny.
