Play Ballance.
This game creeped me out back then, especially the eerie soundtrack, it's nothing overtly scary, but it has that uneasy feeling, my imagination back then went haywire thinking what kind of plot could be hiding in this with all those floating worlds. It's mainly just short ambient stings, but combined with the overall silence of the game, it makes quite the moodhttps://youtu.be/71Budh2EVRc?si=Fb65K9L3tqQYEIjr&t=64
>>683795008Its such a well done game man.
already did. cool ass game, i loved the weird atmosphere it has
hel yea
maybe maybe
Switchball is also great, in the same vein, though it doesn't have the mysterious atmosphere of ballance. I wish marble rollers were more popular, marble it up was great, but I want more weird marble games
Which ball games do you recommend?I've been playing Paperball recently but honestly, the Monkey Ball style sucks, especially when the levels become more of a war to get past obstacles that can kill you immediately than pure flow.
For me it's marble arena 2
I remember a game called hamsterball but havent been able to find it anywhere anymore
>>683797140>Which ball games do you recommend?I tried playing Ballex, it's quite alright compared to Ballance. I'd recommend it, but don't expect the same level of polish and design consistency.
>>683795008Same lol.Kino game though. Weird that it got posted here
>>683797317>Weird that it got posted hereI'm all about kino games anon.
Marble blast ultra remains at the very top even today, how did they manage to make the game look so futuristic even today? Marble it up looks a little too nintendo-y if that makes sense, ultra had a more serious tone going on
>>683795008>>683797317For me it's the endless chasm under the player, creeps me out the most.
>>683797405I remember seething about it though since I was too retarded for some levels
i love balls
>>683797476
Ballance was such a tough game for me when I was younger
>>683797280>>683797161>>683797003>>683795008>>683793934timeline shift, does this timeline have open world marble games?
i miss going freeware diving on shady old sites and finding bizarre games like these, modern indie games don't hold a candle when it comes to the eerie feel old graphics had, pic related always amazed me with its huge pre-rendered backdrops, it's more puzzlelike and less platforming
>>683797953Only modern ones like exo one, I can't remember anything from before 2010 that was open world in that genre
>>683797280Interesting. There's a level editor, which I think is totally essential in these games (but unfortunately a lot of them don't offer it).
>>683793934Played it back in the day and it was one of my favorite games.
>>683797983>giant room skyboxI love the eerie skyboxes from the games of that era. Gave me such odd feels.Pictured: a skybox from the software 3DNA Desktop.
>>683793934buy an ad

>>683798273holy shit, 3dna, i had that on my ancient xp pc i must've broke so many times filling it up with IE toolbars and what not, that's another thing that's completely forgotten now, there was a fledging industry there trying to innovate on the whole 3d/immersive desktop thing, now everyone just goes with whatever their OS offers, customizability is forbiddenI think the skybox in that might've been made with bryce 3d? I know to this day roblox still uses a bunch of old mid 00s bryce skyboxes, it's quite the whiplash seeing them today
I used to play a lot of Oxyd on my parents' macintosh back in the day.
>me realizing sonic is just ball game + kemono>me realizing metroid is just ball game + guns
>>683798493>I think the skybox in that might've been made with bryce 3d?Very likely I'd say.
>>683798727That game had such devious copy protection, it would at random pop up during gameplay and block your progress, and the manual where the codes were was all printed in hard to see red to prevent photocopying. It's still a pain to play today
>>683798727looks like an enigma ripoff
>>683793934For me it's picrelated.
Anyone ever play this? I remember there being this huge site probably around 2007-2009 which was dedicated towards marble rolling games. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, other than it had that default photoshop brick texture and the site was all made to look like an ancient paper scroll in light brown.
>>683798273>3DNASuch a trip down the memory lane.
>>683798493>>683798774>Bryce 3dGod, I used to muck around with that so damn much as a child. Just putting together stupid scifi vistas and then leaving them to render for an eternity only to get blown away by how cool they looked. I did that so many times and it never got old. That and another mac application, 'goo' or something - basically the liquefy distortion tool in any modern image editor but you could make it transition between distortions in a little animation. My mum made so many goofy custom christmas cards with that.
>>683798968I vaguely remember that site I think. So many sites like that lost to time, man. Makes me so sad.
>>683793934It's so cool how it seemed like everything is so high up in space
>>683799198>be careful what you put on the internet, it stays there forever>all the cool stuff rots away but your personal information is perfectly safe
>>683799198Freeware sites are very much fossils, the only one I know that's shockingly still up is caiman.us, after its owner died about over a decade ago, the site has eerily remained the same since then, it's a complete time capsule of cheapo gaming in the mid-late 00s, there was something mystical about downloading someone's crappy freeware game and having no idea what you would get, some of them i remember being so poorly coded they'd barely run even back then
>>683793934is the gameplay balanced?
>>683793934aw man, i 'member playing the demo for this years ago. pretty fun game, has a really cool otherwordly atmosphere (hehe).
>>683799814No, developers went balls to the walls route.
This one is a cute little monkey ball ripoff, but it wasn't that bad, unlike monkey ball, the stage doesn't tilt entirely either, so it's a weird cross in-between marble blast and monkey ball a bit. I remember having this in a CD jewel case.
we need more shape gameslets come up with some concepta mobius strip game
>>683797140Mercury for the PSP was pretty great, tho not strictly a ball game.
>>683795008>?si=Stop doing this shit, Anon.
>>683793934>games where the objective is to get the ball to the goalball revamped 6 when?
>>683799754>caiman.usWow, nice find. It really feels like a time capsule.I want to go back to these simpler times so bad.
>>683793934hehe its called ballance cuz you have to keep balance while being a ball hehehehehehehe
Oh god no, now I'm hearing the music from marble blast ultra again.
Does this count as a ball game?https://store.steampowered.com/app/35460/The_Ball/This shit goes on sale for 80% off regularly so just wait
>>683798752>me realizing every character is just a ball with arms/legs attached to it
>>683804597does not contain any balls so no
