Zoomers don't even know how big the Tamagotchi was
>>
For me it was these bad boys.
>>
I had a dinosaur-themed clone, I miss it so much.
>>
>>683806801
Dinky Dino?
>>
>put some fresh batteries in my tamagotchi
>egg/baby stage is annoying as fuck requiring attention literally every 5 minutes for an hour or two
>finally grows into young child stage
>do my best to take care of it but school / chores / etc get in the way
>tamagotchi evolves into its adult form
>ugly duck balloon monstrosity
>let it die or take the batteries out
>repeat months later
my childhood tamagotchi experience. also felt like every week or so some kid was getting in trouble with the teacher for playing with their tamagotchi in class and had it taken away
>>
>>683806589
It was like 2" tall, not that big
>>
I never gave two shits about Tamagotchi and neither did anyone in my school. Giga Pets and Digimon, though, everyone had those.
>>
>>683807183
were you in the school for weird children?
>>
>>683807183
inner city poor school, you probably prefer rc cola over coke too
>>
>>683807276
Possibly. Did you guys also have a yoyo fad? I had so many Xbrain yoyos as a kid, which were basically cheat modes for yoyos. X-brain Y-wing forever.
>>
Let me guess, you need more?
>>
>>683806589
I knew of them but never knew someone who had them.
>>
>>683807367
No inner city, I lived in a relatively small town (~75k people) in the Midwest. But most people were poor, even in my """middle class""" neighborhood, so maybe that tracks. RC Cola is fucking awful though.
>>
>>683807528
it was more of a girl thing
>>
>>683806589
I've been thinking of getting a Tamagotchi Uni, but as someone who's never really been into this stuff, is it even worth it?
>>
Can you people finally fucking learn that you're thinking of gen alpha and not "zoomers"? We know what a fucking tamagotchi is. I remember when there were loads in stores. Assume I don't remember pokemon cards or collectible disc things in bags of chips next
>>
>>683807458
My grandparents had this exact TV. It broke, so they just but the new TV on top of it.
>>
>>683807637
if you're a very early Gen Zer, you probably know about it, but I doubt late zoomers know
>>
>>683807458
That craftmanship though
>>
>>683806589
I remember seeing people play with these on the bus to school. I wanted one so bad. For Christmas my godfather bought me a Loony Tunes Gigapet (Bugs Bunny). I hated it. But I appreciated the gesture because he was not in a good spot financially at the time.
>>
>>683806716
>check out tamagotchis
>they have color screens
>you can marry other tamagotchis
>they even have whacky shit like wifi
>meanwhile digimon still releases black and white LCD toys like it's 1998

Nah, I played with these types of toys, though I was more of a cube world guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgmKT9N-JKQ

>Cube World
Fuuuuck, I remember seeing commercials for these as a kid and remembered wanting them, but never got any.
>>
>>683807458
VGH take me fucking back. I have formative memories of playing Earthworm Jim and DKC on the SNES on a nice TV like this one. Watched a bunch of Tom & Jerry and classic Looney Tunes on it as well.
I never see TVs listed like this online anymore, not where I live at least

You know how baby boomers still call young people "millennials" even though millennials are in their 30s/early 40s now? This is just the 4chan version of that shit.

My younger brother is a late zoomer, and he knows. The zoomzoom is correct, zoomies and millennials have pretty similar childhoods. Kind of like how retard Gen X assume we don't know what he-man is, or that millennials don't absolutely love the original ghost busters.

No they did they were just much younger. Though to be fair my brother has... me as his brother and our mom is a very early Gen X. So he grew up with both millennial core and Gen X core indoctrination. his favorite game is kingdom hearts because I played it a lot when he was growing up, and his favorite anime is death note because it was the first manga I showed him. It's cute. Love my bro.

They can be fun little time sinks, but it really depends how/if they've changed them with the newer releases. I've got Digimon, since I prefer to battle my vpets, and the newer models cut down on the need for constant care (maybe check up on it once an hour or so), but they used to be pretty bad, where ignoring it for any reasonable amount of time would end up with care mistakes. They're usually cheap enough that it's not a huge issue to take the gamble on one, though.

Zoomzoom official ones were less than 30$. Then there was all the chink clones or the digimon or wtv other pets/robots/mons/fighters bandi/etc was making which were cooler and could connect with eachother.

Remember in like 97/8? a year before pokemon toyRus had a fuck ton of these every kid in class had one type they were fun. Fiddle around a every hour check on pet feed it clean it play with it train it. Fight someone keep winning making people mad, pet finally dies cry bitch tears. Restart all over again.

I always figured after pokemon GO(pets could fight or play games staking a claim somewhere others could challenge you. Everyone is forced to join a guild/colou or wtv. Cities fight to control the most spaces) they would try making some MMO gacha shit and it would make billions due to how simple&fun the series is. Have like a base of 20 species, but clothing/accessories types of housing shit for inside that housing etc etc bunch of shit to spend money on. Walking around you can fight animals search for stuff play train etc.
I know they have tried making mobile games but none of them caught on in the west I think one is popular or was in Japan.

Tamagotchi's are cute/fun how is a MMO gacha shit not one of the most popular mobile games ever made. I mean even fucking monopoly is raking in billions somehow and it cost them nothing to make that game like literally less than 1m in dev cost and it made over 1b in a year. This is how hasbro is alive mind you this fucking monopoly gacha mobile trash. You can thank this game for allowing them to continue killing MTG&DnD. And its projected to make even more sales next year due to all the gambling shit eater zoomer gambling scum love this game legit cant put it down or stop throwing money into it due to all the perfect gambling mechanics in it.

I just want a comfy mmo tamagotchi game man.

Those are retro throwback models with newly added stuff to them. Theyve been using colour screens since the 00's hell didnt the all have internet or wifi since the 10's. Granted these are all Japanese toys I think the western ones are only the retro rereleases or collectors edition bullshit because western toy companies only sell goyslop overpriced trash.

>Probably cassettes if it hasn't been done already.
These have been unironically popular with the zoomer music scene since the 10's because its cheaper to make than vinyl records. Custom 5-1k cassettes are legit popular thanks to tumblr. Also in order to record the music on the tape it takes time you need a special machine to do multiply tapes at once and if you want high qaulity sound the recording takes the amount of time the recording is. Its really cool that records&cassettes made a comeback also they dont sound like shit or are shit thats only the cheap as fuck garbage mass producted pop music. Good cassettes did not blow up or get eaten unless they were played in chink garbage or repeatedly over&over again.

Fuck using old portastudios and other 4 track cassette recorders for indie music was/is popular because it gives you a sweet ass lofi sound. These things cost quite a bit of money and are a bitch to learn how to use you can even record up to 8 channels on them. I got one I found it in the trash ages ago I remember seeing even semi broken models selling for almost 1k on ebay. The real bitch is they use semi special cassettes to record the masters on and getting news on is a pain.

Cassettes and old 80's&90's 4-8 track recorders are hipster as fuck. People are even using sony MD disks & recorders but those disks are hard as fuck to come by now since they were only popular in asia are for wtv reason western companies refused to stock em due to ease of copying data and the size of the disks. MD players were based as fuck re-writeable "floppy" discs that could hold up to like 300mb-1gb double sided later on in its life. Music and storing computer files I'd use mine to share music&emulators/roms till like 2003/4

It was how you got Celebi via the Game Boy's online play system in Japan.
You could actually trade and battle online in the game boy games by plugging them into your cell phone. It's also how you got the GS Ball. This service was never released outside Japan.

The Ball was left with Kurt with the hopes that viewers would eventually forget about it.

I was born in 1999 and slobbered over my V4, V4.5 and whatever the early 2010s unit with the statue on top was called. I also had exposure to Cubeworld and My Meebas. Most Tamagotchi enthusiasts of the now are Y2K troonlets who grew up with that era of the brand. It’s extremely popular in kidcore/furry cartoon circles. What’s your damage?

I think I'm gonna pick up some of these simple, splashy games for my kids as they get older. I keep seeing copies of the remade Fireball Island at bargain stores. They'll probably love our heavier games when they're old enough for them, but games like Forbidden Bridge, Fireball Island, Crossfire, and the like are perfect for young kids that lack the ability to keep track of lots of functions and features of a ttg dungeon crawler. Maybe Godsforge too, that game is great and super simple to teach.

Why not just pick up the new edition? It's readily available and more or less slavishly devoted to recreating the original experience for better and worse.

My parents were both into the Anne Rice books and being a voracious reader I eventually demanded access to whatever it was that held their interest enough to read, so by 4th grade I was reading vampire smut. Just tore through the entire series with the same enthusiasm as I did with Harry Potter. I went to see Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon with my mom and around the same time my step-dad showed me Akira and Ghost in the Shell since I was enjoying the anime on toonami. I know there were some other random movies that they showed me young that had sex and nudity because I've seen most cult fantasy and sci-fi classics like Aliens through them.

The most hilarious part was that during one of the "read a random book from my bin" assignments in maybe 5th or 6th grade I came across an adult pseudo-historical Roman era "detective noir" novel. There was a sex scene that completely passed under my radar because I was used to reading that stuff already but I realize now I probably should have warned my teacher about what had ended up in the grab bag for students at a christian elementary school. All kinds of weird shit in there. The other book I remember pulling was also like a detective novel but it was set on a modern Indian reservation and there was this sort of back and forth between mysticism and rationalism that eventually involved a radioactive macguffin after various convoluted twists. I completely forget how it ended; maybe just a shootout at the eventual mastermind's lair?

Speaking of a kid not realizing how desensitized they are, I had an embarrassing experience.
I had watched Titanic recently, and I remembered specifically a line calling someone a "One-legged prostitute.
Well, I had a friend who was well off. His parents would treat us all the time when I slept over at his house. We were in a nice restaurant and I called my friend "YOU ONE-LEGGED PROSTITUTE" right in front of his parents.
They were fucking shocked and asked me if I knew what I was saying, which I didn't.

>>
>>683816393
Why were they weird? They make more sense when you think about that TV was a piece of furniture when they first came out. It matched your room, you could put shit ontop of it. Plastic housing were the TV companies cheaping out while calling it futuristic. It isn't a real TV if it can't kill a man either from the weight or getting shocked. Tubes don't fuck around

>Tamagotchi
Bro I had one and gave it to my sister. Realized girls were more fun in 7th-8th grade
>>
I was the first kid that brought a Tamagotchi to school.
I singlehandedly created a crisis of children going crazy in the middle of the classroom because the pet was evolving or dying.
Friendships between girls ending because they got the same type or the different type (lmao)
The school principal having to talk with our parents about the dangers of virtual addiction.
Good times.

>mindless pop culture consumerism

you want to talk mindless? my Boomer dad, genx mom, millenial younger brother, gen alpha cousin, all are fucking addicted to their phones. This is no longer about capitalism, thats here to stay.
If anything, my ass is anti-consumerist. I can afford new shiny technology and choose not to, because my shitty 2015 laptop still runs. I don't need fancy shit. So no, we millenials didn't give you shit. Quit vaping.

>demand for unnecessary and shitty reboots
I never asked for this.

>Disney Star Wars

It had promise, but the clusterfuckery of changing directors midway did them in. The tv shows on disney+ seem like too much lore for my taste. Rogue One was ok.

>cereal bars
if you have an idea as stupid as this, and people want to shell out money for cereal? Go for it.

>safe spaces
No such thing. Leftist garbage and PC police enforcement. Cyber bullying is bullying, because only a moron would not admit everything is tied to the internet these days.

>adult daycares
I'm sorry what?

>demand for walled garden tech

I wouldn't be on 4chan if I cared about this. I seek out the haters, I love arguing with people who don't share my viewpoint.
