both of these are considered "handhelds"The reason The Gameboy and its successors took off was because of its battery life and compact size compared to some of the other handhelds that existed at the time like the Game Gear or Atari Lynx that were considered "comically large." The original DS was considerd a little "bulky" for a handheld which is why its upgrade, the DS Lite managed to achieve almost 2/3rds of the total lifetime sales of the DS, despite coming out 2 years later when the market had already been saturated with the regular DS. Even its generational competitor, the PSP, had to justify its bulkiness and lower battery life in spite of its comparatively significantly stronger hardware, which led to products like the PS Go.The steamdeck, on the other hand, is a muder weapon masquerading as a children's toy. It was designed by people that consider "handheld gaming" an activity that encompasses, at most, walking from the sofa to your fridge and back and instead of just putting the controller down, like any other regular fatass that plays videogames on their console, that gameless journey was considered enough of a market gap to justify the development of a surfboard that has a degree of compatibility with modern games to fill just about a PS3 library (zero games). We've been taken for absolute fools.
