I think people misinterpret the music. Yeah it's cool, but you're not supposed to vibe to it. I think its high tempo and loudness is supposed to make you feel like your character feels. Adrenaline is pumping, you're confused, panicked, paranoid. The moment you awaken you're constantly on the run. Seeing everything around you go to shit, barely avoiding getting sucked into space, some cunt yelling at you and telling you how shit went down when you were asleep, crew of the ship getting killed right in front of your eyes etc. Engineering is similar, you make a run for your life in small corridors flooded with radiation and enemies. Of course there are moments later where the music is more ambient and spoopy once your character kind of realizes and accepts the situation he's in.
I loved the system shock 1 remake I hope they'll nail 2 as well. It deserves more recognition.
