Why do people say they're a bad deal when they aren't?
>$500-$700
>runs most modern games at medium 720p / low 1080p just fine
>emulates pretty much everything up to the Switch
>comes with a backlit keyboard
>comes with a nice 1080p 144HZ screen
>upgradable ram / storage if you have problems with those
So why do people hate gaming laptops again?
Gaming PCs are only cheaper if you buy some parts used which is a gamble in itself.
>>
Because everyone needs something that makes them feel like they have worth, and when you don't have any of the things that usually give someone worth, you start grasping for straws, because it's easier than admitting that you're a worthless waste of space, oxygen and resources.
>>
>>683814305
For 900€ I can buy one with a 4060 that can emulate ps3/360 and run all games at medium high 1080p.
>>
>>683814615
>that can emulate ps3/360
Most gaming laptops can emulate those just fine.
Does that $900 also include a 144HZ monitor & keyboard?
>>
it's more about how annoying things are to replace.
>>
>>683814808
It's a laptop dummy have you seen one without?
>>
>>683814305
Bad value for money, can't upgrade or replace 90% of the parts when something goes wrong, prone to inhaling dust and overheating, mobile chipsets get limited driver support, and most gaming laptop owners are housebound NEETs who don't need the portability. Just get a desktop.

I bought a G14 laptop for work and gaymen. Is fast enough but it doesn't hold a candle against my old W540 build quality-wise. I bought a 'eck and im building a desktop... next year im ditching my laptop and buying a decent workstation for work.
>>
>>683814305
Oldfags parroting circa 2006 memes.
Nufag zoomers being too console-brained to do even basic configuration and maintenance to keep them alive more than 12 months.

Anything over 1080p and 60hz is wasted on a laptop. Pointless power drain and the mobile hardware is not designed for that.
>>
>>683815540
>Just get a desktop.
They're way more expensive unless you buy used parts which are a gamble.
>>
>>683815540
Actually you can upgrade a laptop just fine.
You sell it and get a new one with the money.
If you don't go out with it ,it will look brand new and you won't lose more than 100~200 if you sell it after 2y.
The big companies keep making them more expensive and laptops are kinda not going down in price even used
>>
>>683815540
>can't upgrade
I'll give you that
>can't replace
that's just false
>>
>>683814305
Lowers your sperm count.
>>

Nobody actually puts their laptop on the ball's

>>683815804
>just replace the entire machine when 1 component fails
Cringe.
>>
>>683814305
>medium 720p / low 1080p
I don't consider that acceptable.
>>
>>683815804
>If you don't go out with it
Kinda beats the point of having a laptop.
>you won't lose more than 100~200 if you sell it after 2y
This is just delusional unless you're talking about macs.
>>
>>683816053
You only need more for competitive games.
>>
>>683816139
I like seeing my games.
>>
>>683816017
Where did you get failure from?
I've had at least 7 laptops in my life and the only one that failed was run over with a car.
>>
>>683816190
Anon, I'm pretty sure you're blind if you can't see games at 720p or even 1080p....
Get some new glasses maybe?
>>
>>683814305
If your standards are so console-esque you might as well just get a Steam Deck.
>>
>>683816106
Nope .
Maybe it's different in the US but EU fags won't give you a break even with used stuff.
I've see used more expensive then new.
>>
>>683816259
Even cheap gaming laptops are WAY better for gaming then Steam Decks.
>>
>>683814305
>Gaming PCs are only cheaper if you buy some parts used which is a gamble in itself.
If you can't build a gaming desktop for cheaper than a comparable gaming laptop, then you are a legitimate fucking retard, stfu. No "used parts" necessary.
>>
>>683815661
>>Just get a desktop.
>They're way more expensive unless you buy used parts which are a gamble.
Stop repeating this bullshit, it is objectively false.
>>
>>683816243
>if you can't see the 300-800% more pixels without them actually being there, you're blind
Good logic.
>>
>>683816949
That shit only matters for competitive games.
>>
>>683816715
I've literally found cheaper laptops than equivalent PC parts.
I'm serious if you start with 0 part's it's a thing

they are fine for what they are
the issue is people trying to use them as a substitute for a proper desktop which is not what they are for

>MFW I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 laptop
It costs only $599 in the Amazon right now.

You can always just upgrade the RAM and the SSDs.

Because people just want to gatekeep how people playing their games. That's why people get pissy when other people mention they use a gaming laptop. Or prebuilt. Or they played something on game pass. Or that they bought digitally.

Understand that these faggots hold no power over you and their validation is worthless.
>>
>>683819803
Prebuilts are only decent if you're paying like $1500+ for one
Anything lower gets you dogshi specs
>>
>>683814305
That's more than the cost of a console for lower quality. It's shit.
>>
>>683819803
Except what you said isn't true. You're always getting inferior parts for the price with a laptop in exchange for portability. They're a bad deal for gaming, especially. With gaming, you want the best price/performance, but you throw that out the window for a lower top end and higher prices.
>>
>>683820064
i don't know, i feel he's kinda right. it's always same thing. whatever you used money for is best way to do things because you need to be right that you spend your money on right thing. in the end it doesn't matter.
people will always buy stuff that you don't like and then you're gonna be like eeeeh that's so waste of moneyy!! but then there are always people who will think that what you buy is waste of money. like said it's whatever doesn't really matter
>>
if you emulate on a laptop in public, I will call the police
>>
>>683820461
The question wasn't "why do people hurt my fee fees when I game on a laptop?" It was "Why do people say they're a bad deal when they aren't?" They're objectively a bad deal, and I explained in detail.
>>
>>683820601
that's like your opinion dude. lots of people will feel like this was best purchase ever and how they lived without it before. it just how it goes
>>
>>683820736
What someone feels is irrelevant. Bad value is bad value. If I buy a roll of toilet paper for $2, but a 9 pack is $4, it doesn't matter how good I thought my purchase was. It was a bad deal.
>>
>tfw playing mw3 on my free 3 months of gamepass included with my laptop
>silky smooth 30 fps at 720p low settings
Don’t regret my purchase. I do regret installing cod though what a fucking piece of shit, I could’ve been playing yakuza or p3r or some shit.
>>
>>683820903
You ever saw that pic of the dude with the laptop and the gaymer faggot with his monster build desktop going up some steps?
If I were ugly I would’ve chosen the “value choice” too, but I actually enjoy moving it around places with no fuss.
>>
>>683814305
cooling issues, no upgrades (aside from ram and storage), non modular, if your screen breaks, you're fucked forever
>>
>>683814305

If you travel a lot for work etc. Then it makes sense. But if you're home every night, then it makes no sense.
>>
>>683821398
I like to play games. I don't pick my electronics for "style," because it really doesn't matter. I bring a girl to my house and show her around. She sees my massive gaming rig with a 55" monitor as we pass by my office. She doesn't care.

>>
>>683814305
Because 10 or so years ago they were an objectively terrible deal. Now, with cooling being decent on most of them and *entire generations of graphics cards* coming and going without a single new game actually needing them, the argument for a gaming laptop is a lot stronger.
