What is it about this game that makes it feel so different? If someone asked me to name a game that played or had a similar story to E.Y.E. I don't think I could name one.

narrative consisting of scraps from a (probably non-existant) board game's world backstory with the rest written in a drug fueled delirium, all with 10 layers of lost-in-translation

fun fact: there was a e.y.e. goldsrc game beforehand

The levels were needlessly large. I love that shit.

Hotline Miami shares neither perspective nor aesthetic, but I would say the essence is reminiscent.

was that ever publicly available?

I miss the 32-man co-op mission servers where everyone would run off in different directions like sanic and finish all the objectives in like 40 seconds. Also the newfags who would get one-shot by turrets and have no idea what killed them or how.

man I miss the battle royale mode. It was enjoyable for what it was and the maps were really neat I boot them up in GMod every once in a while

looks like a 40k game

It was based upon a at home knock-off of warhammer a group of friends made. They went on to develop actual 40k games.

Based, I love it when indie studios sell out to make mass produced slop

It's called Syndicate Black Ops.

There's a Steam group that runs through some of its maps every Saturday, make sure you have all the new custom maps though.

E.Y.E's battle royale was and still is infinitely superior to any other game/mode with that title. No foraging for weapons, just getting dropped in with one mag's worth of bullets and the default sword, then blocking bullets from everyone else until you could mop up in sword duels.
