given their coding teams are 100% poojets it wouldn't surprise me if the performance somehow ends up being worse

AC is a French company and a significant part of France's cultural output. It's only natural that they be given a tribute during the Paris Olympics

Celine dion fucking nailed it.

I hate her but I have to admit she crushed it.

Also slightly related. I just played odyssey on steam deck and it was really impressive. Had the settings on high and it was smooth.

This had to have backfired horribly for them. I played the game and I wasn't able to tell it was supposed to be from Unity, the fencing mask or whatever the fuck that was didn't help.
I also stopped watching halfway through because they spent like 30 minutes doing their faggy dance numbers instead of focusing on the parade. Probably should have stopped at the bisexual threesome.

it is not profitable to make games in
quebec. the only reason that it has become a hub for game development is because of these tax credits. Ubisoft would have chosen a location with lower labor costs or tax burden if they didn't get the credits.

Lmao they really are pathetic aren’t they, they’re Canadians
>>
>>683861062
they probably wouldn't have. Montreal has a higher cost of living and higher wages than most American cities. if there were no tax credits, it's likely that Ubisoft would have opened up a studio in a cheaper location. they were also being offered tax subsidies by other companies but wanted to go to Montreal because they are French

Ubisoft previously downplayed Unity and thought it was basically a black stain on their company but after Odyssey making people look back on the older games fondly and the fans constantly praising Unity and asking for the newer AC games to be more like Unity they've had a sort of "Come to Jesus" moment with the game.

I don't see how being in Montreal with tax credits means anything. Moving elsewhere will mean being able to lower salaries and pay less for the building real estate, yes, but they'll lose out on whatever tax credits they would've gotten from Montreal, so they'll just end up in the same financial spot. The key part of that article is that without being paid with taxpayer money, Ubisoft as a whole would be 500 billion in debt. Ubisoft only has ~4,000 employees in Montreal out of 20k. So they'll still need to pay those 16k other employees. Despite everything, Ubisoft just doesn't generate enough capital to pay for everything. Pic related shows how bad it is. I'm not even sure if they're even making profit after accounting for inflation, and this is all presumably with tax credits + stealing taxpayer money from like 4 different countries.

Well it's a little disingenuous to say this because they're related to payroll taxes which really shouldn't exist in the first place because they're slapped on any business with enough salaries. It's simply always been an unfair tax. Ubisoft paid 274m euros in payroll tax in 2024 but received a 179m euro credit.
>>
>>683862523
honestly it's kind of impressive kikebisoft managed to be the only entertainment company that didn't see growth during the jewvid pandemic
>>
>>683862793
It'll probably get worse. They amortize (transfer from the balance sheet to the profit and loss statement) their projects completed account over about 5 years. It currently has a 2 billion euro balance so on average that's a 400 million dollar expense that they have to record every year
>>
>>683863051
they had a pretty significant sales jump in 2021 from 1.594b euros in 2020 to 2.223b euros but they're just spending too much fucking money

Isn't this the same as Japan slapping Mario and Pokemon on all their public events? Ubisoft games are basically France's only globally relevant cultural export at this point, it makes sense that they'd include them in their Olympic ceremonies.

I would've liked Wakfu/Dofus to have a character or mascot like a Tofu be there instead but Ankama drops the ball constantly. I think that series is way more French than AssCreed.
