Is it just me or does the driving segments in games where operating vehicles isn't the main focus feel more fun to use compared to open world games like GTA?

Also, yes

>that one driving mission in Agent Under Fire that put you in an open world section of China and let you drive around for hours]
This was a crazy level of ambition
>>
They are fun and they are soul. sadly they did not make it on pc games and even on consoles they do not make it any more. Also james bond games are awesome. all of them
>>
Driving was kinda nice in this porn game
>>
>>686362585
Ok not all of them I suddenly started to remember how bad goldeneye reloaded was. even 007 legends was somewhat better
>>
>>686362527
This was insane for one level. This game also has the best death match multiplayer evergopgfrwguik,,/::,,,,,,…..,,,,,,,,
>>
>>686362715
>goldeneye reloaded
That wasn't a real James Bond game, and that was basically their cut off point from all relevancy.
>>
I've always wanted a game where the main focus is NOT on piloting a huge craft (like a skyship or boat something) but the option is there. The craft has to be big and you can walk around and interact with stuff on it, but the main combat generally takes place outside of the craft.

Like an open world game where you can mess around like normal, but the option to become an airship merchant that hauls around cargo in a comfy ship would be my ideal game. Like imagine if Kenshi was a TPS and you could get your hands on a massive skyship to trade around the cities
>>
>>686360691
american fugitive has some of the most fun driving controls. It's really insane they did only flat terrain. It's such a dumb choice lowering the quality of their game by over 9000. That could have been one of the best games ever made.

But the flat terrain and character design is what holds it back from perfection
>>
>>686362585
Hitman devs are working on one, no idea when it'll be coming out though
>>
>>686362056
Well those are two different games. The OP screenshot is from Nightfire and the second one is from Everything or Nothing. Both are good games.
>>
>>686362818
Which one was the one with the infinite grapple hook that basically worked on every surface of the game? Was it Agent Under Fire? Because that one was so fucking fun. Especially when you had like 2 or 3 friends over for split screen multiuplayer. My god, those were days!
>>
>>686363804
Basically Spiderman but with guns and grenade launchers. Match made in video gaming heaven
>>
>>686363452
is there any info on it? specifically if it's going to play more like hitman or more like an action shooter?

Pretty sure it's going to be an action shooter with stealth elements from the Hitman games incorporated into it.

>play Goldeneye Reloaded
>bunch of dialogue sections throughout the missions
>bunch of QTE sections
>bunch of "epic action moments" where you are essentially not even in control of your character
When I played the original Goldeneye as a kid, I just started the game and shot a bunch of dudes and explored the levels and listened to the EPIC soundtrack. Why was this so hard to import over to modern day graphics and a smoother fps? Why did they make a worthless clone of COD instead of actually remaking Goldeneye? Such a waste.

Did we play the same game? Every single thing about it was mediocre
>>
>>
>>686365015
It was a battle of wits. Preparation, anticipation, trying to remain two steps ahead of your opponent, a true battle arena, a true contest... peak gaming.

but you bought the game, it's irrelevant what you do with it after, if you really wanted to harm them you'd sell it on ebay so that's one less official purchase from the other guy

This game is honestly probably one of my all time favorites I loved it from beginning to end.

The open world aspect was neat of course, but I only ever played them at friends' houses and was never impressed enough to pick up a copy. Tried GTA Online a while back since it was free to play but didn't click with me either.
>>
>>686369443
Uh, it's Rockstar, chud. They have deep and meaningful stories about trans rights and punching nazis.
>>
EVERYTHING OR NOTHING
>>
>>686360691
Not really no. These sections are pretty short and are basically on rails, before you have time to get tired of them the stage is over.
>>
>>686360691
because by nature of expecting the player not to be familiar with the driving physics, they're considerably easier than games where driving is the main focus.
you're mistaking easy gameplay for fun gameplay.

Somewhat, although they're almost too easy to be a dedicated driving game. They're usually designed so people expecting a specific gameplay style from beginning to end aren't left with a "I didn't sign up for this shit," sense at the end and drop the game so the actual driving is too simplified to fit in a more driving-focused game (where some of the challenge should come from vehicle control).

Dalton is the best. Too bad he negotiated himself out of the job.

Had a similar fascination as a kid, for example there's a singular driving level in Vietcong 2003, which I enjoyed replaying
>>
>>686364226
>>686364889
There's still the chance that they make it more like Hitman with wacky and stupid tools
>>
>>686367276
Majority of THUG 1 was "this one mechanic that actually has nothing to do with the series or even this game's main mechanic that you HAVE to interact with but it's designed horribly and handles like ass"
Being able to get off your board was a mistake
>>
dpends of the game, gta iv driving was one of the best in a videogames. You could tell every car apart just by the suspension and weight
>>
Racing/driving coding is an art. Very hard to do it properly
>>

>well done 007
I'd enjoy that I think, find my way to a roof and assassinate someone with a laser beam fired from my watch and reflected off a mirror or running then over with my remote control aston martin.
>>
>>686376134
that's really impressive
>>
>>686361830
I remember this scene so well, burned into my mind. The old bond games were great. Here's a little bonus for the thread, I emailed the composer of Nightfire and he sent me the uncompressed files for the soundtrack. Also if you haven't watched the TAS of these games yet, I recommend doing so, they're nuts.
