I understand now why they were once the most developed region in the world. Fucking look at these roads. Han dynasty was like 200 BC. Jesus christ.

Don't act like Asians don't shit too.

I'm pretty sure Rome similarly had pretty bigass and grand roads like that. The difference being that Rome's infrastructure was used well-after maintenance had ceased for it and sometimes the stonework got cannibalized by people who immediately needed shelter with quality masonry. I admit, I don't know what China has done to keep their castles so well maintained, especially through so many social upheavals and shifts in power, but the point is: it has benefited from continued maintenance, and possibly never really getting sieged in the first place.

Rome and China were similar in terms of development/technology. Roman empire collapsing literally took Europe 1000 years back.
>>
>>686735243
No it wasn't. The Byzantine Empire (real name: The Roman Empire) was the most advanced civilization until the 15th century and by then western Europe had dramatically surpassed China.

A quick timeline of the most advanced civilizations
>Egypt
>Levant
>Rome
>Eastern Rome
>Western Europe

Going up in the towers at night with nobody else around in your wizard robes is top comfy, but from a sim perspective I'd rather you have to sneak around if you go out at night like you do during missions.

Cross sections are so awesome. Loved these books for History as well as the Star Wars ones.

All of em would've lost if they had to fight an army comprised of 5x their numbers in what would seem like infinite soldiers one after another.

Thankfully for Europe there are multiple geographical barriers that made it nigh impossible for such a battle to happen.

V Rising is the only game with customized castle building that I can think of.

Did anybody else spend hours looking at these cross sections each one individually and just played out the lives of all the no named people depicted? Had whole imagined stories and scenes playing out in the castles or battlements or whatever in my mind.

Best way to pass time at school. Teachers would let you do nothing but daydream too just cause it looked educational.

The Mongols conquered China. Then they tried and failed to conquer Europe, which had nothing to do with geographical barriers.
>>
>>686735553
I mean, kind of sort of? Byzantine kept up a lot of stuff and so did the Arabs which got brought back by the Crusades, didn't they? The thing that set Europe back was a lack of a strong, central governing administration to coordinate things and becoming that central government was kind of the big conflict post-Rome.

>Roman empire collapsing literally took Europe 1000 years back.
Yeah this is the meme historical perspective you get from public schooling. Western Europe were backwater ex-Roman territories up until the Roman Empire collapsed in 1453. Luckily Europeans figured out how to greatly advance gunpowder, farming and seafaring technology which allowed them to take over as the world's dominant power instead of the Muslims.

It's a shame that we don't care more about our castles. But immigrants need to get paid money to do nothing. Here is a cool one near my house.
Made around year 1000.

What should have happened is that Hadrian should have finished the job in 135 A.D.
