WoW used to be one long journey that you shared with everyone else on the server. Some people might be further along in that journey, and when they adventured with you, it was a treat. But you could undeniably catch up to them if you continued to journey. It made your journey worth it. No matter what, time spent on your character's journey was worth it. Because every new item you got moved you further along upon it. It was a finite, definable adventure, at least until the next expansion 2 years later (and particularly during the pre-Burning Crusade years). You could see in one glance where a player was at on their journey... you didn't even need to inspect them. Now WoW is a series of small journeys that become irrelevant the moment the next small journey arrives. Everything that happened in your journey prior the current journey becomes meaningless and irrelevantly shit. There's no sense of world, no sense of presence, no sense of a shared adventure, no sense of a community, no sense of special-ness. You don't belong in the world. You are just a collector of item levels, achievements, graphical appearances, mounts, and titles. Every single thing in the game has become a UI element and takes you out of the game's world and into the fact you're playing a game.

Going to Westfall and spam killing Farmer Saldean would make it so nobody on the entire server can continue to quest in the zone. You'd eventually get an entire army of alliance questers whining and hollering at you. I even had people make Horde characters called "Anonsucks" to yell at me. It was beautiful. Sometimes max level Alliance would show up and I'd just go in stealth and keep killing Saldean while they search for me. But of course now the cucks at Blizzard made quest NPCs respawn immediately and added so many layers that things that like are impossible.
