Favourite ps1 games? I loved this one but got hardstuck at Hangar 18
Mastered 5 magics and still died by the sword. Fuck this game
Metallica was the better studio
>>688720352ah yes Megadeth on ps1. classic title.
ngl i was really enjoying the Holy Wars level but then came The Punishment Due and my ass got kicked.
>>688720534lucretia was a shit final boss. just spamming tornado of souls and running away
my favourite kind of thread on this shithole
>>688720352did anyone else's copy of this game smell like rotten eggs? it really wrestled my nostrils while i played.
I got filtered by tornado of souls, I'm still mad all these years later

>>688722160No but mine smells like blood.

What's the St. Anger of video games?
What did we think of it?for me it was a solid 8/10Celebutante, life in hell, mission to mars, dogs of chernobyl, sacrifice, so many great tracks. megadave still reigns supreme even if he's 63
>>688720352I swear these gotta be ad threads. How does backslash V know that megadeth is my favorite band?
>>688724908Soldier On! is my favorite from that.

>>688724409>Thrash: Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth>Metallica sells out, Megadeth copies them for a while but returns to form, Slayer goes slower for a bit fearing they can't reach Reign in Blood heights again, Anthrax I actually haven't listened to them, that I know of>Melodeath/Gothenberg: At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity>At the Gates calls it quits and kind-of-sort-of reforms as Nightrage for fear of not being able to top Slaughter of the Soul, In Flames sells out hard, Dark Tranquillity actually manages to do the "evolve your sound without selling out or becoming unrecognizable" thing properlyWhat is it with genre-creating bands and having the same tropes? There's always the sellout, there's always the quitter, and there's always the one that stays true to form.

ps1 graphics are soulful
>>688727852The first 5 Metallica albums are a great start.
>>688727852Talking about thrash Avoid megadeth at all cost until you get a ear for technical metal. Start with the first two metallica album kill em all and ride the lightning, move unto other thrash bands like testemant, anthrex, s.o.d. and slayer and... if you like the brutal spectrum of thrash delve into morbid saint, sodom, kreator and...Talking heavy metalIron maiden, judas priest, king crimson is all you need for a newbie
>>688727852listen to testament's the gathering albumhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z18vQrxI0I
>>688726439Anthrax started off as a Thrash band and peaked with Persistence of Time imo, afterward they switched vocalists and sounds. They experimented mainly with Alt Metal and Groove Metal the later of which, still carries on in their sound even to this day.
>>688727852https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVhJy-CR64Q
dreamcast was underrated
>>688729382I mean saturn, but the dreamcast was good too
>>688729196Lame. So it's like Pantera where they started off as an actual metal band with the album Power Metal and quickly sold out.
Marty Friedman played guitar on some Sonic music tracks, didn't he?
>>688729490I love Pantera, but yeah Anthrax bascially tried to modernize their sound in the 90s, hell some of their albums even feature Dimebag Darrell on some tracks. I personally really liked Volume 8: The Threat is Real! from that time period it's my favorite post- POT Anthrax album even if it's generally considered to be their worse one (IDK why)
>>688729490lel didn't pantera start off as some shit like glam rock before phil made them metal
>>688729676im not a sonic autist, if he did someone please post it
Anyone remember when megadeth did a track for gears of war?https://youtu.be/D8YtqzdrSlg
>>688729973They did yeah, i actually like Projects in the Jungle as a hair metal album.
Metallica is great, with two shit albumsMegadeth is great, they only have one shit albumAnthrax is only good up til Persistence, rest is shitSlayer was literally never good
>>688730017The Sonic wiki says it's this one.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9I9qsKJL5s
>>688730070>Slayer was literally never goodcrazy that people that hold opinions like this are allowed to go around breathing oxygen
>>688730254Slayer is honestly the most consistent of the big 4 imo.
>>688724908Mission to mars is most creative and unique piece Mustaine has written in recent ages. A nice showing of his sense of humor too. The album as a whole didn't stay with me as much as a Dystopia did but it has it's moments.
>>688730070>Metallica is great, with two shit albumsThey have three good albums, period. One decent album ruined by shitty production because they were babies and decided to just shit on the guy they willingly hired as a bassist to replace their dead guy. Everything from the black album on is pure, unfiltered sellout garbage.
How megadave wrote this technical masterpiece for a game and how is the rest of the album so shit?https://youtu.be/95UT6EbkHzI

>>688730876FUCKING RICH PEOPLE.
>>688722354it's George for me. I always find the meditation hallucination levels really fun.
>>688727852Your quintissential list is something like Metallica's Master of Puppets. Megadeth's Rust in Peace. Anthrax's Among the Living. Exodus' Bonded by Blood. Slayer's Reign in Blood. Testament's The Gathering. Anything from the foest 4 or 5 Metallica albums are a good starting point, then I would recommend Anthrax's Spreading the Disease. Megadeth's Countdown for Extinction. Slayer's Season in the Abyss. Could also go for Annihilator's Never Neverland. Sodom's Agent Orange. Not so much in the oldschool side I think? Since it's like, 2004? 2006? Kreator's Enemy of God. Or Pleasure to Kill but I never digged the early Kreator albums that much. 220v
>>688730450at first i didn't like tstdtd, because that nigger megadave was teasing the album and posting videos of dirk playing blast beats all over his riffs, and they posted multiple vids like this https://youtu.be/Ni9PuNkn-Kk?t=304Honestly i expected something more extreme and death metal edged with dirk joining the band.i hope dirk and teemu push that ginger fuck to write something extreme for the next record
how the fuck do you beat the doppelganger boss?
>>688729831Volume 8 is such a sick album. My only complain is the song titles are kinda forgettable but the actual music I can listen on repeat over and over and don't get tired. Stomp is the one Bush era album that's on the weaker side. Love Joey and love their last two albums but Sound of White Noise is the perfect record for me.
>>688732467I always liked how musically diverse Volume 8 was, you got your typical raw groove metal but you also got some alt metal, crossover thrash, and even country lol. They even covered a Radiohead song which was a bonus track.
>>688732295he mimics item usage to opposite effect, so poison is the cure, etc.

>>688727852Other anons gave great suggestions, but I would also recommend stuff like Black Sabbath, Pentagram, and Candlemass too. If we're not talking old school/doom/thrash stuff, I personally recommend Bolt Thrower. Their last album "Those Once Loyal" is a great place to start if you want more growling in your vocals.

>>688735046Back when racing games were fun...
>tfw failed the dialog check with Lars
Always wanted to play this one because it got announced with that Megadeth song. Never got the chance tho.
>>688735046>release their greatest album of all time>immediately pivot to generic radio rock with a couple experimental songs>only start getting interesting again with The Stage and Life is but a Dream>basically don't even acknowledge Sounding the Seventh Trumpet's existence even though it could easily be adapted for singing like Waking the Fallen was, since Shadows hasn't wanted to do scream vocals for 20 yearscity of evil is 19 years old already jesus fucking christ I remember when that just came out
>>688735548>we never got the Duke Nukem Forever with Megadeth's cover of Grabbag>even the remake is going to replace the song with another version
>>688735709I love how on the Japanese version of Risk, Duke Nukem Theme was a bonus track, which is funny because it's far and away the only good song to come out of that dogshit album.
>>688735548I tried emulating this on Deck but it had a ton of visual issues even if the framerate was technically fine. I wish Xenia was better on Linux.

>>688720352the 2004 re-release of this is pretty shit, and i can imagine a lot of people are turned off from megadeth because of it. do yourselves a favor, look for and play the original 1990 release instead.on top of mustaine himself being in charge of the 2004 re-mixed albums, quite a few of the original studio tapes had gone missing by that point. he "solved" that problem by using tracks from previously rejected takes and re-recording some parts, which is why he sounds extra whiny in some songs, and why the "demon" voice in five magics just sounds like some guy making a dopey idiot voice.

>>688737652Honestly the only Megadeth album from those 2004 remixes i think the original mix sounds better is Youthanasia, every other album i'm fine with either mix or i think the remix is better in the case of Cryptic Writings.

>>688727852rust in peace (OP's pic) is unironically one of the bestlisten to that
I've always been kind of amazed at how well Dave Mustaine synergizes with guitarists that can run circles around him, I'll never get tired of the hangar 18 guitar duel.

I saw Megadeth live last april, it was actually pretty good. Some guys lighted a flare when they played Mechanix
>>688730063Also for Duke Nukem.
>>68874340515 dollars, 15 american dollars you paid to get into the early beta and the devs are getting paid for this shit. Who's the real asshole here?

I had this in what I later learned was a Famiclone (we just called it Family), good memories.
>>688744845Never got to see them and they never returned to my country, but got to see Ellefson with Overkill around that time.

The damn monkey gets me every time. Yes, I've tried drinking my whisky and taking my pills. >>688727852I'm really more of a stoner rock fan these days, but I'll see what I can come up with. Those Once Loyal is a pretty good place to see if you like Bolt Thrower. Check out Crystal Logic, Open the Gates and The Deluge from Manilla Road for some classic power metal. If you want to try some sludge, check out Houdini from Melvins. Crowbar, Acid Bath, Eyehategod, High on Fire fall here and are worth listening too. Also try Hypertrace from Scanner, that's some fun stuff right there.
>>688749840THUG1 introduced me to that album. And stoner rock in general.
>>688750567Never played it, parents hated videogames, but Clutch is my all time favorite band. That is one hell of a soundtrack.
>>688749840Another Bolt Thrower enjoyer, suggesting the same album as I did no less >>688734932Acid Bath and Crowbar are also pretty good, I enjoy them a lot. Funny story, I ordered a CD copy of When The Kite String Pops, but when I opened the jewel case there was a copy of Paegen Terrorism Tactics inside instead.
