did you even read the novel?
It has the best portrayal of Mukuro(unlike how the retarded DR3 anime did) and it revealed how Junko made everyone lose their memories.
And because it isn't a game, Ryoko being the protagonist means she didn't need to be written as a self insert half of the time (and ended being the most interesting one of them all), and how the story didn't need to follow a formula and was its own thing
