It breezes quickly through the story with slideshows so it's mostly just big fights so unless you really like fighting against AI it won't be worth it. The AI actually puts up a nice challenge when you are learning the game and is still fun to fight once you are comfortable and don't cheese it. I liked the story mode, and there are some alternate paths that deviate from the main story but most of them aren't super long. Plenty of characters don't even show up in the story so the multiplayer is really where it's at. There are also custom battles on top of it for a bonus mode some made by the devs, people can make their own so if you want to try that as well it could be just worth waiting until people make some good ones.If you are a big dragonball fan it's certainly worth it on sale imo

Are there any truly bad/ unplayable characters in this game? Like somebody who is just awful value for their DP cost. Since everyone has a reasonable amount of health and all virtually the same defensive abilities and attack options most characters seem usable. The in-game timer ticks up an hour every time you open a menu that requires loading, so you can open a menu and immediately back out and then check which tournament is open. If you want to play fast and loose, you can save when the timer switches over to cut out the 'open menu' step but you have to get lucky on which difficulty is lucky. If you get the right difficulty you just reset and go straight into the tournaments. The worst one for me was Yamcha Games (I wanted my girl Fasha, god damn it) it took me like three hours of rerolling and retrying to finally get a decent character and not getting bad AI matchups.

If not start there, learn to defend and learn how to use the combos so you can capitalise and actually deal damage when you hit and set up to land your abilities and ult instead of just launching them and wasting your ki. Most characters play pretty much the same so there isn't really an easy mode although some abilities like Afterimage Strike are really good and cheesy especially against players who don't know what it is (so in single battles you could use Super Vegito not sure who else is powerful and has it), characters who can go sparking mode with a single ability are also very good I guess they are both kinda like training wheels as they give you a really good easy trick to use. They also help you learn to actually use your skill points when you have them. I would just use who you like as you will have more fun desu. In bottom rank just learning to use perception and not just mashing rush attack will do wonders start with this and all else will follow.Without knowing where you are struggling it's hard to help.

So you are sacrificing the damage you could deal with instant sparking to burn your points to escape the combo or sacrificing your hp by tanking the combo and not using it to save you points for Sparking so you can deal big damage afterwards. Maybe there is some other tech for it but I haven't seen it for anything other than defence. Idk much about Psychokinesis as I only see Freiza's miss it and leave themselves stuck in the animation so can't help you there but even if it's useless you have to try land it for style points.
